2020 ADJUSTING

❤ I suspect we’ve all been doing this during this peculiar moment in time.
Adjusting our focus, our work schedules, sleep/wake schedules…
OUR MASKS!
Feel free to insert anything you’ve been adjusting. For me, it seems to be everything!

❤ So. I’ve been away again and I have to say, I never know how long my “comeback” post should be. Should it be a hi there and hello or should I share what’s been happening over the last month?

I usually start out with a super long one and then I ditch it for something short n’ sweet. I sorta’ do the same thing in stores. I’ll load up my cart with a bunch of shit and the more I roam around the stores the more I realize I don’t need half of the shit in the cart so I’m that crazy person you’ve seen in the stores putting shit back on shelves and not necessarily where it goes.

❤ What’s been happening??? I feel like we’re living in the Twilight Zone!

❤ I’ve been trying to follow the White House bouncing ball but who can keep up with the ever-changing campaign speeches/temper tantrum/briefings coming forth from 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. I don’t think we need those briefings every day and if we do for God’s sake let someone else do the talking!

I wish Sgt. Joe Friday from Dragnet was one of the so-called “3rd rate reporters” at those “briefings.”
Seriously…

❤ I’ve been making masks. Here’s a pile of ’em already shipped out. I think this batch was 50+.
I imagine everyone with a sewing machine is making them. I know I’m making more because I don’t think this is going away anytime soon. So, if you or someone you know is in need hit me up.

❤ Today our state is doing a Phase 1 open, whatever the hell that is. I’m tired of listening to it all. Anymore these political briefings are much like the weather. Wait 5 minutes and all the rules will change. I hope everyone doesn’t run around like they’ve just made a prison break altho I suppose I couldn’t blame them. Being cooped up totally blows.

I don’t know about any of you but I’ve had one car ride out n’ about since quarantining became a way of life and I felt like I just landed on the planet. There have been buildings built and buildings torn down, all of the flowers and trees are in bloom. The gas prices have dropped below two dollars, all of the stores have caution tape and one-way signs. I feel like I’ve literally spent the entire spring season indoors and again, it totally blows.

❤ I haven’t been blogging because I just wasn’t feeling it. We’re all doing the same lockdown life. On the plus side, I haven’t tried to cut my own hair. On the not even close to positive side, I started watching The Real Housewives of New York. I know. What the hell, right? This is how I know my brain is turning to mush.

Fortunately, I didn’t even make it thru one show because I couldn’t deal with all that nitpicky, high school bullshit from grown-ass women. I don’t even know who those housewives are but they really need to back away from the plastic surgery. Holy hell… They look like skeletons with fruit roll-ups for flesh!

❤ How have all of you been? Everybody still healthy? We’re all holding up here but my cousin in Chicago has the virus and that’s very scary. Prayers and positive vibes for her would be much appreciated.

❤ So, I discovered this about myself via quarantine. Apparently, I’m addicted to Amazon now. Actually just online shopping in general. Granted, the things I’m ordering are things I need but still, it’s like an every week thing. I’d go to overspenders anonymous but I’m pretty sure they’re not an “essential” business,  like gyms and tattoo shops… Insert eye roll here.

❤ Today is my very best day of quarantine because it’s my son’s 29th birthday!! So a great big Happy Birthday to him!

Thank goodness he’s in Michigan. They’re not opening until the 15th so I don’t have to worry about a bar scene with a bunch of “maybe they’re infected maybe they’re not” non-mask wearing partiers.

Happy, Happy Birthday to my son who has taught me so much about acceptance, thinking outside the box, and most of all unconditional love.
College grad. 2019 with his beautiful sister.

❤ Wow. So apparently I opted for the long-ass blog post. Sorry ’bout that. I’ll be writing my post for tomorrow later this morning and I promise it won’t be that long.

❤ As always, I’ll be visiting all of you and catching up. Please stay safe. Keep your distance and as goofy as they look, wear a mask. I’ve got you all in my prayers. ❤

  1. With all this stay at home stuff, I’ll miss your weekly post about serial killing stalkers on Craig’s List t

    • I wish I had looked on Craig’s List. Silly me I thought people would actually do that whole social distancing thing. Apparently not. Next Monday I’ll return to those serial killers stalking grounds. 🙂

  2. Hi there Karen – A great read, just the right length! The part about Real Housewives really made me laugh because that’s just how I am with the Real Housewives of Cheshire here in the UK. A new season just began and I thought I’d give it a go, despite ditching it a couple of episodes into last season. And it’s the same old s**t!!! Yes, how can grown women with ALL THAT MONEY be SO stupid, immature and NASTY! And why do all the housewives shows all over the world feature the same kinds of nasty people? I guess it must get ratings. Happy birthday to your son! Love your masks – very pretty.

    • Thank you Gilly. 🙂 Omgosh. I was wondering if there was a Real Housewives over there! I have AcornTV. I’ll have to see if it’s on there. 🙂 – This stay at home stuff sucks. I know it’s keeping us safe but holy smokes. I think I’m heading to the mountains this weekend. I’ll sleep in my vehicle. I don’t even care. I am to that I have to get out NOW stage. – Thank you for the birthday wishes for my son. I’ll pass them along. And thank you for your kind words about my masks. There’s definitely a learning curve there.

  3. I’m so glad to hear from you! I’m also being driven insane by the constantly changing ‘rules’ going on. Our stay at home was extended, at midnight no less, to the end of May now. And they keep flip flopping on retail opening and whether we are being forced to wear masks. Well, guess what? I went to see my mom yesterday! I hadn’t seen her since mid-February. She’s 81, lives alone, and has had a toilet running for a month, along with some things that needed checked on in her basement. Plus, she couldn’t find a mask anywhere and doesn’t use her computer. So, I brought her some masks and fixed a few things that I was able. Arrest me!

Seriously, I’ve had it! And yes, I watch RHONY and other crap because I’ve caught up on all my usual nonsense shows! I was so bored I watched 90 Day Fiance Quarantined and actually enjoyed it. LOL.

Happy birthday to your son and all the best to your cousin.❤️

    • Thank you. It’s good to be missed. 🙂 Oh my gosh… This lockdown is going to do me in Good for you for going to visit your mom and fix things for her. I don’t know what this government expects but we’re not zoo animals. Holy hell… Those housewives!!! Omg. They’re so petty. I haven’t watched the 90 Day Fiance Quarantined. I’ll have to check it out. Is it one of those shows where the women are competing to be with one guy? Those shows are the worst. Lining up for some guy. Not happening. – Thank you, I will pass your birthday wishes onto my son and thank you for thinking of my cousin. She’s a pretty tough Italian girl. I’m praying she pulls thru.

      • No , 90 Day Fiance is a whole ‘nother level . . . It’s usually a couple that meets online (though some have met on trips) where one lives in a foreign country and has to apply for a K-1 Visa to come to the USA to be together. It’s a whole franchise on TLC.

      • Okay. I’m going to watch. Hopefully I won’t get hooked because I am the worst at waiting for the next episode.

  4. Welcome back to the Blogosphere, Karen. You were missed! I was away for over a month too, as I also wasn’t “feeling” it. 😛 Laughing my ass off at your description of the Real Housewives! 😀 I don’t understand how these insipid reality shows are so popular. We’ve been hooked on Netflix, these days, mostly European crime series. Best wishes to your cousin for a speedy recovery and Happy Birthday to your handsome son! Your masks look fabulous! I don’t suppose you ship to Canada? Nothing is opening in Ontario yet, but they are hopeful something will happen, soon. In the meantime, one day at a time…

    • Thank you. In truth I’m still not feeling it but I’ve missed you guys too so here I am. I’m a Netflix junkie and Hulu and Amazon and HBO… I used to hardly ever watch t.v. but now it seems I can’t stop watching it. I like all of the British crime shows. They’ve got the politest way of telling some criminal, “you’re fucked.” 🙂 Thank you for your well wishes for my cousin and birthday wishes for my son. As for shipping to Canada, I never have before but I’ll definitely be checking into it!

  5. Yes, I know about phase 1. I didn’t go into any store here in Bonners Ferry but main street had cars and notice people going in and out. As far as I know there HAVEN’T been any positive results for covid 19. But last heard just under 60 people been tested.
    I am slowly making mask…

    Like

    • Right it’s all about the testing and until I, personally see some solid reports about the curve heading down I’ll still be at home and if I must go out I’ll wear a mask. I would encourage you to continue to make masks because we’re going to need them.

  6. So you’re the reason I had to leave my checkout once a day and roam the store with an empty trolley gathering up all the stuff that was put back just wherever you happened to be at the time? and then of course I had to do the rounds again to put everything in is proper place. I hope at least you didn’t put deli meats or frozen goods just willy-nilly on the shelves to melt or go bad.

    • Nooooo. No grocery stores just stores like Target and Kohl’s and when I say I put some things back not necessarily where they go I mean I’ll put a shirt back on the rack but not in the right section or I’ll just put shoes back in the box on the top shelf. That kinda’ thing. Still not right but no way would I do groceries that way. I couldn’t imagine not putting cold or frozen stuff back!

  7. Adjusting to everything! That’s it for me too. We ARE living in the Twilight Zone! I keep waiting for Rod Serling to show up. In fact, he’d be a more reliable voice talking straight to the American people than what we hear coming from the White House these days. We do not need those briefings, totally agree. I got tired of watching when it turned into mainly an outlet for grievances and political rhetoric. And OMG, the stunning bleach comment! After that, only the medical professionals should be up there talking, ever! I remember Dragnet and we could sure use Sgt. Joe Friday…”just the facts, ma’am!” If only …

Love your colorful masks, Karen! I don’t sew so I haven’t made any masks. I sent for some on Amazon and I’m still waiting. I’ve just been using a scarf or paper masks. I’d love to take you up on your offer for masks. Just let me know how we go about doing that, thank you so much, my friend! ❤

Good luck with your state opening. I have no idea when we’re opening up in Maryland but I am hoping by the end of May. Right now, we still have too many virus cases each day. The county where I live has the second most cases and deaths in the entire state. Most of that has been in nursing homes but I am nervous every time I go to the grocery store. I want to be cautious but I cannot wait until things change, and change safely. Plus, I am in dire need of a haircut and color. I didn’t even know I had this many gray roots, yikes!

LOL about Real Housewives, I agree. I’ve been doing more online shopping too. Just bought myself some PJs. Wasn’t like I didn’t have any but one can always use more.

I’m so sorry to hear about your cousin in Chicago. Sending prayers and positive vibes for her full recovery. I’m glad everyone is holding up where you are. So far, we’ve been OK here in Maryland, and my family in New Jersey has been OK but I worry about them since NJ has a high number of cases. My husband’s mother is in assisted living in Northern CA and doing alright but that is a worry too given her age, she’s in her 90s. His sisters out there check on her. Nothing feels right anymore.

Happy 29th Birthday to your son!! I love that photo of your son and daughter, such great smiles, beautiful children.

I really enjoyed your post and I didn't mind the length at all. It was fun reading and catching up. I’ve been meaning to get my blog rolling again then everything changed with the virus. When hubby is home, it really cramps my style! This hasn’t been a very happy marriage for me anyway. (He’s not abusive, just non-supportive about anything I want to do and was never there for me when I wanted to have a family, and he’s grumpy at the drop of a hat. But he makes a good salary and I’m too old to change horses in midstream, plus the dogs like him…and I prefer him when he's out walking the dogs LOL!). If I can get myself motivated, I’ll get a blog going again. Every day is Blursday these days! Great post. 🙂

    • Omgosh. Your comments about your husband are hilarious. Ya’ know… You could just send him to the store every day. Maybe twice a day? I wonder if you could be charged with murder tho if he comes down with the “rona.” Hahahahaha. Also. His own mother lives more than 2000 miles away from him. That speaks volumes. On the plus side, however, she’s not living with you. 😀 I’m such a bitch. – I am very happy that you are staying healthy but I’m bummed that of all people to be quarantined with you have to be quarantined with your husband! Oh well. He’s good with the dogs and he keeps the cash flowing so there’s the silver lining I guess. Thank you for all of your kind words and I can’t wait until you start blogging again. I’m happy to be missed because I was missing you too. 🙂

  8. So you’re the one! When I worked retail, we’d have to go around and put things back where they were supposed to be from shoppers who just left stuff everywhere. We’d have carts and carts of “reshop”. Tedious task.

We’re having push back against the governor today. Certain shall we say “entitled” individuals aren’t pleased about their beaches being closed. Even though they’re crowding them… Deep sigh.

    • But I did put it back on the same rack or like one shelf above the original one. My selective shopping doesn’t require that anyone go “in search of” everything is pretty much right there just not exactly. – Omgosh… I totally get that people need to work. I do. My kids are all working from home or have been temporarily laid off and applying for and actually getting unemployment are two totally different things. It’s hard and I get it but I think that dying would be much harder. And as for those beach people they are a people unlike any other. I’ve seen so many people on tv with skin that looks like leather from all of that beach life and apparently zero sunscreen and/or moisturizer. Just listening to them made me think about people who suffer from that seasonal disorder only for these people it’s the beach. I don’t get it.
