I feel like such a loser American. I didn’t even know there was a National Anthem Day, did you guys??
It’s also National Cold Cuts Day. Who knew?
And since we’re talking about meat…
It’s also World Wildlife Day.
George of the Jungle – hands down my favorite form of wildlife.
It’s also the Global Day of Unplugging, which is what I’m about to do right now but not without sharing one more special day…
Happy International Irish Whiskey Day!
Cheers!
MIMI’S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY –

I’m getting tired of these whatever the hell days. Today is National Grammar Day and Hug A G.I. Day. When will it be Kiss My Lily White Ass Day? That’s what I’m waiting for.

I found a website that lists all of these days. And weeks. I’ll choose a couple and put them up when I’m doing a regular thing in a classroom. I don’t know if the kiddos like it, but I get a kick out of it.

Some of them are fun but I’m still wondering who comes up with these. Any ideas?

Some are acts of Congress. Some are promotional for the industries they represent. Some are Presidential proclamations. The website I use: http://www.holidays-and-observances.com/
That explains some of it. And sometimes it explains why a specific date. I mean, it’s all crazy, really. And silly. But, why not?

Lots of places, people and organizations come up with them. Some celebrated in the USA have Congressional or Presidential proclamations. Some are just fun, or gimmicks by organizations to promote their products. I list a lot of them each day because i think they’re a hoot and to prove there’s something to celebrate every day so pick what you like and enjoy it.
By the way, US National Anthem Day is on the date of our current anthem’s official adoption by Congress, so it truly is a national day.

There are special days for everything, it seems. 🙄 Mostly, I ignore them, except for Spunky Old Broad’s Day (and Month), which was in February. 😉
