MONDAY MOOD – 1/5

And I did just that! Stayed home, nice n’ cosy!
I hope you’ve had a good start to this brand-new week. I got Christmas mostly taken down over the weekend. There’s still a few bits n’ bobs to store away, but Christmas 2025 is definitely over. Or is it???

I belong to several recipes and crafting groups online, and the moderator of one of these groups had posted pics of her taking down her Christmas stuff on December 26th. Apparently, she’d had it up since right after Halloween and for her, it was time to come down. And that’s when all hell broke loose in the comment section. I couldn’t believe it.

People were irate. They told her she was wrong to be doing that, it was only the 2nd day of Christmas, she didn’t know the meaning of Christmas and how could she do this to Jesus, yadda, yadda, yadda. Seriously, the woman got reamed and all I could think was, who cares? Who cares when this woman takes her Christmas stuff down? And I didn’t see one comment in defense of the woman, like, it’s her stuff she can do what she wants, or not everyone shares the same traditions, or maybe she isn’t Christian. Nope, people were just being jerks and all because a woman showed pictures of herself taking down her Christmas stuff. – Just ridiculous.

Today, I feel like I spent the whole day reading and snuggling my pup. He’s been a little out of sorts lately so he’s needing some extra attention and that’s okay by me. Time is never wasted when you have a furry luv in your lap.

I did find something I thought I would share just in case nobody knew this like I didn’t know. Ever since the death of Rob Reiner – so incredibly sad and still unbelievable to me – I’ve been watching clips of All In The Family just for nostalgia’s sake and still trying to really believe that “Meathead” is no longer with us. Well, I checked to see if All In The Family was streaming anywhere, it’s not. So, I got on YouTube because they usually have full seasons of everything, but nope, they didn’t have it either. What they did have though were the original pilot shows for what became All In The Family.

There were 3 pilots total. The first pilot in 1968 was called, Justice For All. The second pilot in 1969 was called, Those Were The Days, and the third pilot, which is the one most of us know, was called, All In The Family, and it aired in 1971.

After watching these videos, I am so happy that we finally got All In The Family. Check them out and let me know what you think. – 1968, 1969, 1971

Man, I couldn’t imagine the 1968 or 69 versions at all. Could you?

Well, we got our first Monday of the new year in the books. Did everyone survive? What’s on tap for Tuesday? I’m heading to Goodwill, the women’s shelter, and Half Priced Books to drop off a bunch of gently used items. Then, I’m off to the spine doctor – sounds freaky – to set up a physical therapy schedule. I’m so happy this is finally happening. Arthritis is no joke! So, a busy day of errands for me in our spring like winter weather. No snow but also no complaints because at least it’s not temps in the 90s. Lol. Forever a summer hater am I.

Have a great Tuesday everyone and let me know what happening down in the comments.
Good night.

  1. Shocking to read about the murders of Rob Reiner and his wife! Even moreso to find out their son did it. 🥺 Those two early All In The Family pilots didn’t work for me either, especially the first one. What’s up with Archie Bunker’s hair? 🙄

We took down the Christmas stuff today, but to each their own. Ridiculous that anybody would comment on somone else’s traditions!

Hope all goes well with your physical therapy! I know all about arthritis too, but it’s more or less still bearable.

Mild spell coming up here this week, so we’ll probably lose the snow. Okay by me, but I dread the freezing rain they’re prediciting!

    Happy Tuesday, Karen!

    1. Omgosh. I knooooowwww. Rob Reiner was such a good guy and him and his wife did so many good things. Why are they dead and P. Diddy is alive and well?? Makes no sense. And it is horrible that their son did it. I never followed up to see if the son was on drugs or having a psychotic episode. I read he had issues in the past and was schizophrenic. I don’t know. It’s just sad. – Aren’t those first two pilots of All In The Family just so bizarre? I mean, I don’t think those two shows would’ve been family friendly at all. And yes, Archie Bunkers hair looked fake. So weird. Glad we got the one we got. – I’m hoping the physical therapy will at least make it bearable too! – We’ve had a mild spell all winter. Not one flake of snow has fallen in the valley and our temps are mostly spring like. It’s crazy. I hope our summer is just as mild. I could do 2 springs, a fall and a winter. If I controlled the weather. Lol. And freezing rain is so damaging. Every year in Michigan we would watch to see which trees were going to split and break from the ice. It looks pretty but when it coats your cars with 2 inches ice that is no fun at all. – Be safe over there!

  2. People have truly lost their minds in the comment section!!!! Like, who the fu*k cares when someone else takes down their decorations?? Do you happen to know if the nasty commenters were Americans or not? Because some of the worst people I’ve had run ins with online were actually not from America. I won’t mention the country, just in case you have commenters from there – LOL! Maybe it’s a cultural difference?

My dad loved All in the Family. I actually didn’t like it, but I know I’m in the minority. It was too much yelling for me. Also why I didn’t like Roseanne. I’m taking my car in for an oil change/tire rotation this morning. Such excitement in my life!

    1. Omg. They are totally off their nut! And most of these were Americans, and when I checked their profile to see if maybe it was a bot. Nope. Southern and their tag line is, I love Jesus. I do check for bots though because they’re just there to stir the pot. – My dad did not like All In The Family, especially Archie Bunker, which was funny to us because we thought he acted so much like him. Lol. Minus the mispronunciation of words and the yelling. I couldn’t stand Roseann’s voice so she was a no go for me. – Car maintenance is so boring. I hate waiting in those fumey (I made that word up) smelling little spaces. I think dr appts are boring too. Except that time I was diagnosed with cancer. All visits after that one are listed in the boring dept of life. Lol.

  3. What a shame on all those folks that unloaded on that woman that took down her Christmas decorations. They sure didn’t have the Christmas spirit. People need to tend to their own business and stay out of others business.

Have a fabulous day and week, Karen. Love you. ♥

    1. Right??? People are so mean online, and they say things they’d never say to someone face to face, or who knows, maybe they would. They definitely would not like my face to face comment. Lol. – So far I am having a great week. No complaints. I hope your week is going well too. Love you right back! xoxo

  4. Good morning, it’s Tuesday. Monday was work for me, as always, and Tuesday is a ladies’ circle meeting, followed by taking care of our little Annie.

My schedule almost never varies, work or babysit, pretty much every day. Retiring someday is my dream.

I pray you have a blessed and beautiful 2026, with excellent results from the physical therapy.

    1. What will you do when you retire? I want to travel to the countries of my ancestors on my mom and dad’s side, more so my mom’s because her ancestors all spoke English, although there is some Scottish in there so I may need an interpreter there. Lol. All of my dad’s side would require an interpreter. : ) – And thank you, Mimi. I pray you have a blessed and beautiful 2026 too! So far, it looks to be a lot of stretches but, I told the dr I’ll be going to the aquatic center as much as possible too. I’ve always gotten such a great work out in the water.

  5. I think too many people were feeling like that woman was showing them up, getting her Christmas stuff taken down so quickly. That’s why they attacked.

I had a quiet Monday in anticipation of school starting back up today. (The teachers had to go back yesterday, but the students didn’t start until today, so no subs needed until today.) Today I’m in a special ed class.

    1. You know I never thought about that Liz, but then who would think it’s a contest? Geesh. – Quiet Mondays are a good thing. I remember it was always a bummer to go back to school after Christmas breaks, and I think we had longer breaks way back then.

  6. I agree with you on the woman and her decorations. I think all the naysayers were quite rude! A real “Holier Than Thou” bunch and how dare they?

I remember All in the Family only vaguely so I will watch the videos, but one says unavailable in my country, but that’s okay.

    1. Right? I can’t remember a time when I’ve ever cared about when someone put up or took down their Christmas decorations, or if they didn’t decorate at all, which a lot of people don’t. – Ooops. I never think about whether the videos can be played out of the states.
