THURSDAY 13 – Only 37 days…

Good Morning! Happy Thursday! It’s time again for Thursday 13. Just a list of 13 things. It’s my new go-to post for all Thursdays and again, a big thank you to Liz over at Laws of Gravity.

1 – Only 37 days until…

2 – If Idaho had a theme song right now it would be…

3 –
4 – I’m thankful our power stayed on yesterday. Idaho Power was cutting power off in some areas as a safety precaution.

5 – (Not my photo) This is Boise yesterday. Our air quality sucks right now.

6 – I am so thankful that Idaho does not have as many fires as Oregon!

7 – It’s supposed to be in the 90s this weekend and I feel like I should pull out my winter gear! Holy shit, no triple digits?? Maybe it’ll snow! My little pals doing a snow dance for me.

8 – Yesterday we had a chance of thunderstorms. We got some wind and my plants got blown over. That’s it, that’s all.

9 – Tonight is movie night. Deadpool & Wolverine. Hoping to get the super cool popcorn bucket because well, it’s cool. Also. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are hot.

10 – I got this needle minder for my cross stitch. No more lost needles! Go me!
I got it on Etsy from Beckadoodles.

This is her Halloween set and I think I need to get that too.

11 – Counting down the days until our favorite pumpkin patch opens…

12 – Thursday is also Thirsty Thursday and Thankful Thursday.

I’m thankful for water, AC, and firemen!

13 – Today is the last Thursday of July. And just like that more than half of the year is over.

I hope you all have many, many things to be thankful for and that none of you are thirsty! It’s almost the weekend again and I just feel like such a slug for staying in out of the heat but between the heat and smoke. It really is killer out there! What are you guys up to this weekend? Anything thrilling and spine-chilling to report?

Oh. I need reading recommendations. What’s a good book???

SUPERSTITIOUS SATURDAY

– Purse on the floor, forever poor. –

Happy Saturday!
I know I’m not the only superstitious person here so please share.
OR if you aren’t really, really superstitious, what’s a superstition you’ve heard of that you kinda’ do every once in a while? Like salt over your left shoulder right in the devil’s eye! Ha!

I’m trying to combat the heat with thoughts of spooky season. I’m watching Paranormal Survivor on Haunt TV on YouTube (it’s free) and gathering some fall crafting projects.

I made this lit’l ghostie a while back and I’m thinking about making some more for a Halloween bunting but I don’t know. I’ve seen people make keychains with them.
PROS – They work up quick and they’re cute.
CONS – They’re boring to make, at least for me.

I hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday. It looks like Monday we’ll have a break in our triple-digit heat. It’ll only be 99 degrees. Holy hell, bring out the hat and mittens!! That’s frostbite weather!!

MIMI’S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY –
Also, never sleep with your feet pointing towards the door. That’s the way they carry you out when you die.

THURSDAY 13 – Red/White/Blue

Hello, hello. Happy Thursday! Once again I am posting my Thursday 13. Just a list of 13 things. It’s my new go-to post for all Thursdays and again, a big thank you to Liz over at Laws of Gravity.

My Thursday 13 today are from the year I turned 13.

It was 1976 and the U.S.A. was poppin’!
1 – It was America’s Bicentennial! The 200th anniversary of the adoption and signing of our Declaration of Independence.

2 – I remember all of the fire hydrants in our town being painted red, white, and blue. (Like this but not my pic.)

All of the rest of these 13 things also happened in 1976.

3 – The #1 pop song –
Loved it.

4 – The #1 country song –
Never heard of it.

5 – The #1 t.v. show –
Whatever happened to the oldest brother?

6 – And the Oscar goes to…
Such a good movie, even today. I watch it every time it comes on. Nurse Ratched was such a bitch.

7 – The #1 fast food restaurant –
I don’t remember it being that popular but we were kids. McDonalds was our #1.

8 – The #1 pop – Bicentennial Pepsi! What else?
I miss pop in glass bottles. It just tasted so much better and I feel like it stayed cold longer.

9 – 1976 Superbowl –
Pittsburgh Steelers 21/Dallas Plowboys 17

10 – The 1976 Kentucky Derby winner.

11 – 1976 baseball World Series – Cincinnati Reds 7/New York Yankees 2
I remember this whole play-off and the World Series. I had such a crush on Johnny Bench and he won the MVP that year.

12 – Annnnnd, even tho I was crushing on Johnny Bench, I was absolutely certain that I was going to marry Starsky (Paul Michael Glaser, the dark-haired one) from Starsky and Hutch.

I remember – because it’s written in my journal – that I had 2,916 pictures of Starsky and 1,671 and a half pictures of Hutch. (My brother ripped it.)

13 – When I was 13 I told my dad that I wanted to be a social worker. My dad who grew up on the streets of Chicago said, that’s a good way to get your throat slit when you go messing around with people’s families. Not sure what experience taught him that but it pretty much put the kibosh on that career choice for me.

My little sister, however, did go on to be a social worker. She didn’t get the same warning that I got. I just tell her, I guess daddy loved me more than you.

So, another Thursday 13 in the books. It’s a little bit challenging. You think you can just rattle off 13 things but it’s not that easy!

I hope you’ve all had a great Thursday. My computer has been lagging today and I have no idea why but it has been frustrating. It’s 8pm and 102 degrees. I seriously thank God every day for blessing us with air conditioning. A lot of people don’t have it and I have no idea how they’re getting thru this heat. There are cooling stations but they close early.

Anyway, so the weekend is coming up, do any of you have plans? My plans until the temps drop back into the low 80s is to stay inside with the AC, my books, and my crafts. It’s okay. I’m not isolated. I have my people. Lol.

TTT – GoFund me Idaho

Good morning all you cool cats! Happy Tuesday and sorry I missed posting on Monday. I have no idea where the time went but I do know I fell asleep reading so yay me!

I hope everyone had a great weekend and to those celebrating the 4th of July, I hope you did so safely and still have your sight and all of your fingers because you all know how to light fireworks, right?? You didn’t burn anybody’s house down??? We had soooo many fires started by fireworks it was ridiculous. If you don’t know what you’re doing don’t buy fireworks. It seems so simple…

Okay, so I used to do a Tuesday post called, Tough Titty Tuesday and basically, it was just me calling out whiners and giving them the Tough Titty Tuesday award.

Today’s TTT award goes to a nameless, faceless couple who just recently moved to Idaho.

I might be wrong but I thought the idea behind a GoFundMe account was to help people with serious, life-threatening/altering situations.
And then I came across this GoFundMe…

“My husband and I just moved to Idaho and just started working. A little push to help relieve the stress of a new place is what we are looking for.”

Then… A little while later she posts this –

“Well, Idaho might not be the place. Some of these people are a true trip and these white folks up here are a different breed. Time to go.”
I have no idea what kind of “breed” this woman is referring to but I’m pretty sure that statement isn’t helping her GoFundMe account.

Idaho people, whatever their color and/or breed, are mostly hard-working rancher/farmer/handshake contract types. They’ll give you a hand up but if you’re two able-bodied individuals who can work you’re not getting a hand out. If they can bust their asses working, literally making hay while the sun shines, so can you. I think that’s pretty much the same all over the world.

– Oh, and btw, this is a white woman posting, unfortunately, I don’t know which breed. She’s in an interracial relationship. I don’t care. Idaho doesn’t care but why would you move somewhere without the finances to back up the move and then trash on the people that you’re asking for help from???  I don’t get it. –

And this is why this GoFundMe couple get the TTT award.

Well, it’s time for this breed of woman to get a move on and get some things done. I’m hoping to have projects to post or at least WIPs, works in progress to share soon.
Enjoy your day and if you’re in the heat zone, turn your AC to the “my eyelashes are frozen to my eyelids” mode and think cool thoughts. Ours is at 62. I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

WELCOME JULY!

Happy Monday, and Happy July!
Oh, and to all of my Canadian friends.

I hope you all had a good weekend. My allergies tried to take over but I had my self-imposed “to-do” list and I was sticking to it! Almost… I got 6 of the 10 things on my list done and I count that as a win.

Before my eyes got too itchy and watery from my allergies I went thru my bazillion emails and attempted to unsubscribe from at least half of them. I’m still on the fence about deleting the Nextdoor app. It can be helpful sometimes. Sometimes it’s just a time waster.

A quick breakdown of the Nextdoor app. –
It’s basically a nosey neighbor site specific to your neighborhood. People ask for recommendations, report “crime” in the neighborhood, ask for and give advice, blah, blah, blah.

For example, this “neighbor” is looking for a little help…

QUESTION“I have a leak under my house in a 3-foot-high crawl space, but at 75 I am unwilling to go down there, Looking for someone (possibly a teen) to go down and see if it is a sprinkler line (which we believe it is) or something else, You don’t have to fix it, just take a picture. $20. for 10 minutes and getting a little dirty.”

My first thought was this guy.

And my answer would’ve been this –
***
Dear teens that may find that $20 bucks tempting. Don’t do it. Talk to your moms. They watch the crime docs. They’ll give you $20 bucks just to pick up the dog poop in the yard. Your own yard where it’s safe with no crawl spaces or creepy old men.

I’m curious about your thoughts. Do any of you have the Nextdoor app?

Have a great week ahead and to all of my sun-worshiping, heat-loving pals out there, enjoy. July is just one step closer to those “ber” months that I love so much.

My project for the weekend is rearranging my bedroom and making room for some new things to come in.

THE THURSDAY 13 – Brain, mouth and out – No filter

Hi everybody! I hope you’re all having a great day/evening. I hope you’re all staying cool or warm, dry or wet. Whatever you need from this day, I wish you all of that.

So, today, I’ll be doing a Thursday 13 post. I don’t think I’ve done one before but this may be my new go-to post for all Thursdays.
Thank you, Liz, over at Laws of Gravity.

The idea is just to make a list of 13 things. Easy peasy. Today mine will be 13 random thoughts. Whatever tumbles out tumbles out. So, here we go. I’ll try to keep them short.

1 – I listened to whining/barking dogs all day and I know it’s not their fault. It’s their owners. They go to work and the dogs go into the backyard. Hopefully, there’s water, shade, and food for them.

2 – I hate the heat. I know you know. I heard something the other day that this outrageous heat will be the norm in years to come. If that’s true the new summer drink at my house will be Mimi over ice… In my bathtub… Not shaken, not stirred, and hopefully undisturbed!

3 – I tried to watch the Presidential debate tonight but it was just too painful. Basically, we’re all fucked.

4 – I find myself addicted to unsweetened iced tea with lemon.

5 – I also find myself addicted to Britbox and Acorn.

6 – Tonight, for dinner, we had pork loin, mashed potatoes, gravy, and green beans.

7 – I don’t like the news reporter Jake Tapper on CNN.

8 – I have 2 projects going right now. 1 for Halloween and 1 for Christmas.

9 – My granddaughter’s first concert last week was New Kids On The Block and Paula Abdul. She loved it and knew all of the songs. That’s because her mom (my daughter) knew all of the songs, because why? That’s right because this mom jammed out in the car during the 80s and 90s.

Annnnd, one of the band members is on one of my favorite shows, Blue Bloods as Danny Reagan.

And, in the way back when machine, he’s the one with the bandana. It’s so funny to see these pics now. To Mark Wahlberg’s credit, he has now been a multi-generational hottie in my family.

10 – My favorite New Kids On The Block song is You Got It (The Right Stuff)

11 – It sucks that Blue Bloods is doing their last season. It’s a great show.

12 – My allergies are acting up and that sucks too.

13 – It’s 11pm and I’m tired so I’m heading to bed. It’s been a long day for me!

Okay, well, there’s my Thursday 13. Not too bad. I was still trying to make them shorter. – Next time… Maybe… Good night!
