THANKFUL THURSDAY – Bring on the rain!

Happy Thankful Thursday!
Today I am thankful for…

I am thankful for birthday celebrations! My youngest turned 29 this week!

I am thankful for cooler temps and sleeping with the window open!

I am thankful for thunderstorms that are rolling thru the sky as I type this.

It’s been a busy past couple of days. The house is almost completely decked out for Halloween. We start in Sept. because it’s my youngest’s birthday month and he LOVES all things Halloween.

Including this…
But this won’t be opened until the September 30th Hocus Pocus 2 premiere on DisneyPlus. Did I happen to mention he loves all things Halloween??

Our temps will be in the 70’s this weekend with some rain, maybe even a thunderstorm or two but rain or shine, it’s definitely time to get out local! I’ve already loaded my calendar with fall and winter “to-do” lists and this weekend it’s all about the Hyde Park Street Fair. I really love that side of town. They have beautiful historic homes, cool little shops, and places to grab a “mega pint.”

I’ll be around in the morning to visit all of you, read your amazing posts, comment and answer comments – so sorry for the delays – and hopefully get a post out too!

You know I have to ask… Who’s got weekend plans???  Oh, and FYI, choosing to do nothing on the weekend also counts as a plan.
Who’s got GREAT weather??? I hope you all do. Fingers, eyes, and toes all crossed that a ton of rain will fall on the wildfires and weeks of sunshine will dry up the flooding areas.

Okay. Time to snuggle in with a good book and listen to the rain and thunder!

  1. Sounds like you’re ready for Halloween. 🙂 Happy Birthday to your youngest and enjoy the movie. We’re going to see “See How They Run” tomorrow afternoon. Had a couple of cooler days, but the weekend should be back to hot and humid. I don’t mind and am sad to see it go! Great weather for a BBQ. We do nothing a lot and are unapologetic about it. Joys of retirement. 😀 Have a great weekend!

    1. I am soooo ready for Halloween! And thank you for the birthday wishes. I will pass them on. He is really ready for Halloween. He and his wife are both horror fans. I can’t do those but we do all love Hocus Pocus. 🙂 – I can’t even think about hot and humid. We don’t have the humidity here but we had that heat. Blah. And I remember that heat and humidity from growing up in Michigan. It’s like you had to cut a hole in the atmosphere to breathe. I don’t miss that so much but you’re right, it is great weather for a BBQ. – Yay for you guys! It is more than alright to do absolutely nothing. Those seem to be the most peaceful days and who doesn’t love those?

  2. Oh, how I love Johnny Depp! Can I have my mega pint with him???

Yes, we’ve had some great weather this week. Later today, we are headed to an outdoor brewery that we like. It was formerly a tire store, with multiple garage bays. It’s pretty cool!

My oldest turns 33 next week. Boy, does time fly.

    1. Omgosh. That train wreck of a court hearing but I’m so glad he won. I’ve always liked him, and I always will. – Hey, that brewery does sound cool! – My oldest turns 39 this year… Time flies is an understatement.

  3. Love your list of thankful things. We are out of that awful heatwave here too. It’s chilly in the morning and we’re liking that. Rain would be nice too. It won’t happen for a bit, but I’m ready.

Have a fabulous day and weekend, Karen. Love you bunches. ♥

  4. Oh yes, I’m all for doing nothing right now. I envy your rain. We had one day of rain last week, and I’d like some more now. But at least things have cooled off.
    Happy birthday to your offspring.

  5. Many happy returns of the day to your son!

We had an exceptionally wet summer, even for the swamp, so we’re enjoying a break from the rain now.

Weekend work keeps me hopping, i hope for some down time soon.

Please know i always understand my blog friends have real lives that can keep them away. No requirements in my feiendship, you always have amnesty from “having” to read or reply on my blog, although i do love when friends have time to do both.

I learn so much and I feel such a connection. No. I don’t “have” to read your blog. I CHOOSE TO!! Big hugs to you in your soggy swamp. ❤

  6. My youngest is 41 already!
In my hot dry country, I often wished for rain too, but we’ve had plenty this year and I am so sick of being cold. I wish I could send our rain your way to drown out those fires.

    1. My oldest turns 40 next year! It’s so strange having grown children, isn’t it? Especially when they get gray hair because in their faces I still see them as my babies. It’s so weird. I wonder if they remember the young mom when they look at me and my gray hair AND wrinkles. 🙂 – I hope you get to warming up sooner than later. Why doesn’t the extreme weather ever go where it’s needed most??
