FINALLY – The “ber” months

Hi everybody! Happy Friday and Happy September!!
Holy shit I thought it would never get here!

Also. It’s a long weekend here in the U.S. due to the hardworking people of the past, present, and future.
A big thank you to all of them and I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

(Working with The Simple Woman’s Day Book prompts today.)
MY DAY BOOK – SEPTEMBER 1, 2023 – FRIDAY

Outside my window… It’s dark because it’s almost 4:30 a.m.

I am thinking…
That Christmas is right around the corner!
And don’t forget…

I am happy that…
Rain is in the forecast.

From the kitchen…
We’ll go with last night and homemade egg rolls. SO yummy.

I am wearing…
A paisley print shirt with black leggings and my slippers.

I am creating…
Currently, I’m trying to get a Halloween crazy quilt actually done by Halloween.

I am going…

I am reading…

I am hoping… That everyone is doing well.

I am hearing…

And it’s wonderful.

I am thankful…
That my nephew’s open heart surgery went well and that literally, 2 days later my other nephew (brothers) did not get hit by Hurricane Idalia. – Seriously – Needless to say, this Auntie may have been a little stressed but ya’ know what? I stayed up with them when they were babies so it’s kinda’ the same. Not even close to the same.

Around the house…
Getting a head start for the holidays. So, cleaning and sorting, tossing, and a trip to Goodwill. I know. Could my life be any more exciting? But, that’s life, right? We all clean. We all have boring days. The highs and lows. The ebb and flow. We’re all just living our crazy lives.

One of my favorite things…

Weekend plans…
It depends on the weather. We’re supposed to get rain this weekend. So, after some cleaning and crap, who knows.
I might just sit on the patio reading and enjoying the rain. Oh, and drinking some coffee of course…
I got out the Halloween mugs this morning and yes, it’s pumpkin spice coffee because ya’ know what? I’m an adult and I can do these things and, it’s delicious.
PS – I know this looks like the pic from last year’s post but it’s not I promise.

What are your weekend plans? Is it a day of labor or leisure?
This is the part where you get to fill in the blanks. In fact, fill in as many blanks as you want. You all know I’m a nosey bitch.
As always, whatever you’re doing I hope it’s something that brings you joy.

Enjoy the beginning of the “ber” months!

  1. I was thinking about you the other day and knew that sooner or later you’d post something and here you are.

I’m ready for cooler weather too. It’s been a long and hot summer.

I linked this post to Wordless Wednesday.

Have a fabulous day and weekend, Karen. Love you. ♥

    1. Well, you can take the girl outta’ the blog but you can’t take the blog outta’ the girl. Lol. – Man, I think about you all the time with that crazy weather! Holy smokes and then a hurricane and an earthquake all on the same day?? It’s scary to watch it. I can’t even imagine being in it! Idaho had a small earthquake a few years back and I never felt anything like it and it was scary. Hopefully, the weather is going to take a turn and cool everybody off, without the need for natural disasters. – Love you, Sandee and I miss you. <3

  2. The “ber” months means summer is going away, which for me, is a sad thing. 🥹 Sounds like it’s rejuvenating for you, though. Enjoy! 🎃 Glad to know your nephews are doing well.

    1. It does rejuvenate me but I have so many friends like you that are soooo sad for summer to end. No worries tho, it will be here in a flash just like my “ber” months. Everything seems to come a little faster these days. – And thank you. My nephew that had surgery is in the healing process and my nephew in Florida is fine as wine. Thank God.

  3. Challenge accepted!
I am thinking….your border is lovely and I am so happy to see a new post from you.

I am happy that….it is September and autumn is just around the corner. Plus, Art in the Park is one week away and we will have a good time catching up, looking and touching all the pretties there.

From the kitchen….boneless, skinless chicken thighs in the crock pot. My go-to for now. Plus, lemon bars for my great-nephew’s girlfriend.

I am wearing…. denim cropped jeggings and goldish-yellow floral print tunic.

I am creating….embroidered quilt squares although I do not quilt.

    I am reading….Go Ask Alice.

I am hoping….you all are well and finding your place in this world.

I am hearing…. my 13 yr old lab, Bella, snoring and 10 month olf mini AussieDoodle, Holly, playing with a squeeky toy

    I am thankful….because I am blessed.

Around the house….there are plenty of things that need my attention, but I am ignoring them and playing online instead.

One of my favorite things…. oh, so so many things, but right now it’s pumpkin spice everything!

Weekend plans…. Trader Joe’s and World Market/Cost Plus Saturday with my nephew. Then nothing else planned but definitely open to suggestions and/or invitations.

    1. Yay! – Well, the border is new and felt very fall-ish to me. – Art in the Park, yesssss. – Chicken thighs are my favorite part of the chicken and those lemon bars sound so good. I haven’t made them nor had them in years. – Your quilt squares so interesting. I can’t wait to see them. – Omgosh. Go Ask Alice and Valley of the Dolls are two of my favorite books. – We are well but I don’t belong in this world so that’s never going to happen. Lol. – Your fur babies make me miss my fur baby so much. – You are blessed and I am to even tho I don’t deserve it. – Pumpkin spice everything here too! Our coffee dates will be wonderful. :) – And I need to get over to the market! I haven’t been there in forever and I love that place. So much fun stuff.

  4. It’s been a rough summer for me, but I’m hopeful for 2024. My son and his very pregnant wife are here now for dinner. Tomorrow, my husband and I are doing a little road trip to visit President Garfield’s home and gardens. Glad your nephews are all ok now. That’s stressful!

  5. I’m glad you’re having a restful time of it. I’m the opposite. I will be working on Labor Day so that I can get caught up on the work I’ve been behind on for two weeks. If I can get caught up, my stress will be way lessened. So, goals :)

  6. That’s good news about your nephew’s open heart surgery, and that your other nephew did not get hit by the hurricane. You are quite the busy beaver getting ready for the holidays. I can’t even think about the holidays yet let alone Christmas LOL!
We’re having a heat wave here in the Northeast, hotter even than we had this summer, so any pumpkin spice would have to be iced. :) No special weekend plans just relaxing. Love the Mark Twain quote, one of my fav American authors. Have a great Labor Day weekend!

    1. It’s wonderful news!! They are both doing well. – I try to be busy. Sometimes life doesn’t co-operate but I keep trying. – Omgosh. Hasn’t the weather been crazy?? My family in northern Michigan are getting heat waves too which is not the norm up there. And then California with the hurricane and earthquake all at the same time. I hope the weather settles down. I know you guys back east get hit with all that snow. Maybe your heat will extend into those snowy months. :) You know, I don’t know that I’ve ever read anything by Mark Twain and if I did it was sooooo long ago. Like in school days. I’ll have t check out some of his books. I like his quotes maybe I’ll like his books.
