“I’M TRYING” – THE UN-NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION

No resolutions for me. I’m just trying.

“I’m trying…” To get a post written and posted every day this year, EXCEPT on the weekends when I will be visiting all of you, reading and commenting on your posts.
“I’m trying…” To eat healthier.
“I’m trying…” To figure out some kind of workable sleep pattern.
And, as always, “I’m trying not to swear so much this year.” Unfortunately, Joanne’s online is making this fucking impossible!

Every time I make an online order with Joanne’s I regret it, and every time I vow never to order from their online store again. Apparently, I just enjoy being irritated as shit so I continue to try, thinking and hoping that one day they take a page out of Amazon and at least attempt to make the online ordering process semi-successful. I don’t know if any of you have ordered from Joanne’s online but my first bit of advice would be, just say fucking no, and my second piece of advice would be DO NOT track your packages. I don’t know why Joanne’s online can’t send all of your shit on the same day or close to the same day by the same fucking delivery company.

Tracking my packages was like playing Where’s Waldo or following Dora the Explorer all around the fucking globe! My orders came from Ohio, Washington, and California. Then, just for fun, everything sat in St. Lake City, Utah for days! My first package was missing over half of my order. The second package was missing 3 items. The third package had 2 of the 3 missing items and I’m still waiting on my mother f-ing silver metallic acrylic paint!
Joanne is not good for my “I’m trying not to swear so much this year.” Nor is she good for my mood blanket!
Dear Joanne, you suck.

WRITING PROMPT – My one-word writing prompt for the day is… –
**** SURPRISED
**** I’m surprised at our weather ahead. I’m in the valley, 1″- 2″ inches. I’d rather have the mountain snow but I’m thankful for ANY snow in the valley.

AT THE CREATION STATION – I’m still working with watercolor and getting my crochet time in.

MY NEWS CHATTER
I can’t believe he died. I have a Christmas story about David Soul but that’s for another post. Today I’m just sad. It feels like a tiny piece of my heart broke.
Rest in peace… <3

This weekend do something that is good for your “Soul” and don’t forget to share it with me in the comments. <3

  1. A post a day is a daunting goal and seems like way too much pressure! I did the April A to Z challenge four years in a row and never recovered from the blogger burnout. Now I just post whenever the muse strikes and most followers seem okay with that. Your fans will be around for whatever you decide to do. 🙂
January sure is the time to think about eating healthier and losing some weight! At least around our house it is, as we always pig out over the holidays! 🐷
Joanne’s sounds like a terrible online store! Don’t blame you for swearing and what’s wrong with that, anyway? It’s just words and also excellent therapy. 😃
Let me know if you find a successful sleep pattern, since I don’t have one either.
Yes, very sad about David Soul. All of our favourite celebrities are dying off at a fast clip, it seems! 🥹
We went out for dinner with friends tonight and had a blast! The grey, wintry days always give me the blues, so that was good for the soul. 🥂
They say snow is coming here this weekend too, but only about 2 inches. Better than mud, at least! (That’s a dog person’s sentiment. 🐾)
    Have a good weekend!

    1. Yay for dinner with friends and having a blast! I know you get the blues and if there was someway to take all of that snow and grey winter days and bring them here, I would. I’m not a fan of the grey days when they’re never ending but a few are good for tea and reading. :) – Man, I remember those A to Z Challenges. I think I may have only gotten thru one or two but I definitely attempted them all! – Omg. The holidays do us in every year and every year we’re all eating healthier and then all of that Valentine’s candy goes on sale and then it’s Easter… It’s challenging but we try. – I don’t know if I will ever find a “normal” sleep pattern. I was so sleepy yesterday, I ate dinner and went to bed. I woke up at midnight and here I am. Doing the things I guess “normal” people do during the daylight hours but I prefer the night. I’ve always been a night owl. Maybe I should stop trying to go against my own self! :) – It is so sad about David Soul. It’s like watching your youth crumble down. Idk. Back then I guess we thought everyone would live forever. – Hey! We got snow and I FUCKING love it! :)

  2. Deliveries from so many sources has been a nightmare since Covid. I had pistachios I ordered from Amazon sit in Michigan (after traveling from California) for 3 f***ing weeks, only to be returned to California. Irritated the crap out of me. I feel your pain!

  3. I’m not crafty so Joanne’s isn’t some place I would order from. Sorry they suck. I like it when you cuss. It’s so you. Just saying.

This weekend we’re staying home and doing a bit of cleaning. It’s a good thing. We do it together and it’s enjoyable.

Have a fabulous day and weekend, Karen. Sending you tons of hugs and love. ♥

  4. I’ve never ordered online from Joann’s. (I’m assuming we’re talking about the same craft/fabric store.) But, I have one a couple miles from my house, so I’ve been in the store many times. In fact, the buttons I used (in Monday’s post) on my pillow came from them.

    1. Yes, the very same Joanne’s I only order online when there’s something online that supposedly isn’t sold in stores and every time it’s a nightmare. I’m actually pretty lucky. I’ve got a Joanne’s and a Hobby Lobby about 5 minutes away. I can’t wait to see your pillow! And hear about your classroom shenanigans. And take your quizzes.

  5. I couldn’t do a post a day if I got paid! my brain is empty more days than not.
I suggest finding an alternative to Joanne’s since they clearly don’t care about you.

  6. Happy New Year, Karen! I finally had a chance to catch up on your blog. No snow yet for us this year but we may have some coming soon. I’m glad you got some snow there, I know how much you love snow!
Been rather a tough year so far for me with stuff going on at home but I’m trying to look forward and stay positive.
So sad about David Soul, I adored him too.
Hope you have a great weekend! :)

  7. Embracing the concept of “trying” acknowledges the inherent challenges and setbacks we encounter along the way, while also celebrating the courage and determination to keep moving forward.
