SUPERSTITIOUS SATURDAY

– Purse on the floor, forever poor. –

Happy Saturday!
I know I’m not the only superstitious person here so please share.
OR if you aren’t really, really superstitious, what’s a superstition you’ve heard of that you kinda’ do every once in a while? Like salt over your left shoulder right in the devil’s eye! Ha!

I’m trying to combat the heat with thoughts of spooky season. I’m watching Paranormal Survivor on Haunt TV on YouTube (it’s free) and gathering some fall crafting projects.

I made this lit’l ghostie a while back and I’m thinking about making some more for a Halloween bunting but I don’t know. I’ve seen people make keychains with them.
PROS – They work up quick and they’re cute.
CONS – They’re boring to make, at least for me.

I hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday. It looks like Monday we’ll have a break in our triple-digit heat. It’ll only be 99 degrees. Holy hell, bring out the hat and mittens!! That’s frostbite weather!!

MIMI’S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY –
Also, never sleep with your feet pointing towards the door. That’s the way they carry you out when you die.

  1. Knock on wood. I do that a lot.

Black cats are lucky not unlucky. I have a black cat.

It’s 98.5 degrees right now. It’s been very hot for day. I’m ready for some cool weather.

Have a fabulous weekend, Karen. Love you. ♥

    1. I do too!! Lol. And yeah, no, black cats are not bad luck. I think they’re the coolest of all cats except maybe the Maine Coon cats. Aren’t they so majestic and big?! I had a black cat once and that’s how I found out I was allergic. I ended up in the hospital twice. His name was Capone and he was wonderful but I had to give him to friends who were kitty lovers. :) I hope you’ve had an enjoyable weekend, Sandee. Big hugs and bunches of love. xoxo

  2. My bedroom has three doorways, so there is only one way to sleep, with my feet pointing at the bathroom door, but I’ve put a large chest of drawers at the end of the bed, though I’m not at all superstitious. I just needed one to store my sheets and towels (no linen closet here) and that was the only place left.

My mum was superstitious, no shoes on the table, no giving of knives as gifts because you would “cut” the friendship, the recipient would have to “buy” the knife with a coin, even a penny was enough. Also never give an empty purse as a gift, always put a small amount of money in it. A dollar or a few cents would suffice.

    1. Omgosh Elsie. I am such a nut job about feng shui in my bedroom. Lol. Your dresser is a perfect buffer. You can deflect in feng shui. I still don’t let my feet face the door and, my bed has to be pointing the right way so my head will be in the right zone. Seriously. I’ve spent the night at friends/family homes and I couldn’t sleep because their bedroom was all wrong. – I never heard the one about the knife. One of my grandson’s collects knives and I’ve given him quite a few over the years. We’re still chatting. Knock wood. :) I didn’t know about the purse either even tho my sister just gave me 3 empty ones! Lol. I knew about the shoes on the table because my mom would always say, no shoes on the table or hats on the bed. Bad luck!

  3. I don’t like cats and I really don’t like black cats walking in front of me! That’s about the only superstition I can think of. Isn’t there also one about not walking under ladders? I mean, who’s that short?🤣

    1. I had a black cat once. That’s how I found out I was deathly allergic. Totally hospitalized not once but twice. If I could I would have another in a heartbeat. – Yesssss. The whole ladder thing. I think that superstition was made up by a clan of midgets. Lol.

  4. I’d say planning spooky season is a great way to think cool, but I’ve had some rather scorching Halloweens (and Octobers), so that doesn’t quite work in my neighborhood. I’d say look on Pinterest for some good Halloween ideas. There’s a great witch hat that I have my eye on…

    1. Thanks, Liz! And always feel bad for complaining about our heat when I know you and Sandee for sure are in the heat zone. I’ve thought about a witch hat but I’m on the fence. I find a lot of patterns on Ravelry too.

      1. I meant my Halloweens can be hot days. I am deliberately not talking of the weather now (because we’ve had pretty nice days while everyone else is sweltering). We’ve been incredibly lucky so far. I know it won’t last.

  5. Your lit’l ghostie is cute! To some extent, I am superstitious. I always do the “knock on wood” one, I try to avoid walking under ladders, I keep hats off the bed, and I don’t whistle in graveyards. If I find a shiny penny or a 4-leaf clover, I consider that good luck. Hope you get a break from that stifling heat!

    1. Thank you. :) – I never heard the one about whistling in graveyards. I don’t know the backstory on that but I wouldn’t do it just because I don’t want to call some bad spirits to me! Lol. Now that’s going to be my warning to everyone I know! No whistling in the graveyards!

      1. It’s an Old World superstition that whistling in a graveyard disturbs the dead and can summon evil spirits, so I don’t take any chances! And luckily for me, I’m a poor whistler anyway lol! :-)
