THURSDAY 13 – Only 37 days…

Good Morning! Happy Thursday! It’s time again for Thursday 13. Just a list of 13 things. It’s my new go-to post for all Thursdays and again, a big thank you to Liz over at Laws of Gravity.

1 – Only 37 days until…

2 – If Idaho had a theme song right now it would be…

3 –
4 – I’m thankful our power stayed on yesterday. Idaho Power was cutting power off in some areas as a safety precaution.

5 – (Not my photo) This is Boise yesterday. Our air quality sucks right now.

6 – I am so thankful that Idaho does not have as many fires as Oregon!

7 – It’s supposed to be in the 90s this weekend and I feel like I should pull out my winter gear! Holy shit, no triple digits?? Maybe it’ll snow! My little pals doing a snow dance for me.

8 – Yesterday we had a chance of thunderstorms. We got some wind and my plants got blown over. That’s it, that’s all.

9 – Tonight is movie night. Deadpool & Wolverine. Hoping to get the super cool popcorn bucket because well, it’s cool. Also. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are hot.

10 – I got this needle minder for my cross stitch. No more lost needles! Go me!
I got it on Etsy from Beckadoodles.

This is her Halloween set and I think I need to get that too.

11 – Counting down the days until our favorite pumpkin patch opens…

12 – Thursday is also Thirsty Thursday and Thankful Thursday.

I’m thankful for water, AC, and firemen!

13 – Today is the last Thursday of July. And just like that more than half of the year is over.

I hope you all have many, many things to be thankful for and that none of you are thirsty! It’s almost the weekend again and I just feel like such a slug for staying in out of the heat but between the heat and smoke. It really is killer out there! What are you guys up to this weekend? Anything thrilling and spine-chilling to report?

Oh. I need reading recommendations. What’s a good book???

  1. Tomorrow it will be in the 90s and the weekend it will be in the 80s. We’re so ready for that.

Love all your thirteen things. Now to answer your questions.

    1. I’m thankful for my hubby and family.
    2. I’m thankful I found you.
    3. I’m thankful that I’m healthy.

Have a fabulous day and rest of the week, my friend. Love you, Karen. ♥

    1. We had the 90s this weekend and currently at 9:30pm it’s 83. I’ll take it. I’d open the windows in my room tonight but it’s too smoky. Next week we get triple-digits again. Ugh. – I’m happy you liked my 13. :) – Aw, and thank you for being thankful for me. Sandee, that is so sweet. I feel the same about you! And I am so happy that you are healthy and that you have a wonderful husband and family. xoxo Big hugs to you and lotsa’ love, always.

  2. Sorry about the fires. That’s terrible. It wasn’t so long ago that this was California fire season, and while we’re having fires, it doesn’t seem as bad as in past years. I guess they just moved up the coast. Not a good thing.

    1. I read about your fires all the time and I think what a whiner I am because it feels like your entire state is engulfed in wildfires and I feel bad complaining but fire is fire and heat is heat and it all sucks.

      1. I just heard about a terrible fire here in California, but this season it seems like the PNW is getting hammered. Bad. You’re not whining. It’s just icky when it’s nearby enough that the air quality suffers. (And I’m not even mentioning being in the path of one of those things. Fingers crossed that we all miss that terrible happening.)

        1. I hope the fires are nowhere near you or my other blog friend, Sandee. The California fires just seem to rage on and on. I haven’t checked on containment of the fires here but it’s smoky and the air just stinks, oh, and we’re supposed to have 11 straight days of triple-digit temps. I can’t wait for fall.

          1. No fires are near me (at the moment; *knocks on the nearest piece of wood furniture*). That can change, though. (I worry more about fires in October. That seems to be the worst for my immediate area.)

  3. Is it usually that hot in Idaho? And do the potatoes cook out in the fields? 🤣 We FINALLY got some rain yesterday. We are at a big deficit this year.

I like Elin Hilderbrand books, but I like beach reads!

    1. I don’t remember it being this hot all the time but apparently it’s the new norm and it’s horrible. Aside from the fires the smoky air is hideous. And you can see the smoke just hanging… It smells like a campfire all day every day. – I haven’t read her books but I just looked them up and yes. Those are my kinda’ books. I call them summer reads! Lol. – Oh, and no, the potatoes don’t cook in the field but it would be hilarious if they did, and if the corn popped!

  4. A good book? It depends on what you like to read. Murder mysteries? Romance? Police procedurals?

I like the dancing snowmen. The “ber” months in Australia are the spring pollen months followed by the “ar” summer heat months. JanuARy, FebruARy, MARch. “aARrgh! turn on the cooling!”

    1. Elsie, I know that our seasons are opposite and still, I forget. I wonder how the Americans that have moved there have adjusted to the opposite seasons. It’s got to be so weird for them.

Currently, I am reading British Detective books but sometimes I need to switch it up and read some Debbie Macomber books. I’m always in search of writers like her. I call them summer reads. Just something light, not too much to focus on. A good story that won’t give me nightmares. Lol.

  5. The wildfire situation is so tragic! 😢 I just heard the entire town of Jasper, Alberta (a well-known tourist area) is being engulfed in flames.

September and October are fine, but November truly sucks around here. Cold, grey and rainy, mostly. December is festive, at least! The light displays make it bearable.

Enjoy the movie! The Canadian premiere was here in Toronto the other day, with personal appearances by the stars and director. Cool to have two Canadian superheroes in one movie (even though Jackman is Australian)!

Trying to lose weight (as usual! 😝), so I drink lots of water and make many runs to the bathroom. Helps with the step count! 😉

Definitely thankful for A/C – we’ve had some hot sticky days as well – but also thankful for summer, because the heat and humidity helps my arthritis. And, I’m thankful we have a lovely backyard to while away those lazy, hazy days. 🌞

    1. You know. I really shouldn’t complain so much about our wildfires because California is like one massive wildfire. I read about the fire up there in Alberta. That was a surprise to me. We’ve lost some pilots here and I believe Oregon has too. It’s just heartbreaking and smoky and hot. – Your November sounds heavenly. I love the cold, rainy days. I’m always so tempted to move to the Seattle area just for their gray weather. Lol. – There are so many great actors who came from Canada. I always wonder why they don’t live there. I know it’s cold in the winter but I’m pretty sure it beats Los Angeles hands down. – I’m following Code Red. You can Google it. It really works once you change your thinking about food. The woman who runs it, Christy is a bit much but I just got the diet info and unfollowed her. She has YouTube videos. She’s so in your face. She lives here in Boise too, drives around in a Tesla, blah, blah, blah. – Omgosh Debbie, I don’t know what I would’ve done without our AC. Holy crap. The triple-digit heat waves just kill me and we have them for weeks on end. I can’t believe this weekend was in the 90s and we thought it was cool. Ugh. I am definitely a fall and winter girl.

      1. You like cold, rainy and grey? I find that horribly depressing! We truly are opposites when it comes to weather. The Code Red diet was new to me. I looked at some of the rules… No food after 6:30? No alcohol? Get 7-8 hours sleep? (That hasn’t happened since I was a teenager!). No fruit? No bread? I don’t think I could handle that. 😆 I use the Noom app, with varying degrees of success. (Not so much at the moment. Lacking motivation. :P ) Most Canadian stars move south because that’s where the work is, along with the casting agents, etc., but many also keep residences in Canada.

        1. I do love the dreary weather! Lol. A little sun once in a while but not too much. I hate the heat. – Yes. Code Red is very challenging but it works. You’re supposed to drink a gallon of water every day too and I think I’ve only ever reached that goal once or twice. My friend drinks it every day, with electrolytes. The things about Code Red that I like have been, of course the weight loss but also the sleep. If you stick to it. You’ll get your sleep in and feel amazing in the morning. – I thought Canada was a big movie making place too. Aren’t there a lot of shows filmed there??

          1. IA gallon of water? Yikes! I thought I was doing well with half that amount and am still running to the bathroom a lot. How do you find the time to drink that much? Anyway, congrats on your success with Code Red, especially the sleeping part. I’m a chronic insomniac and can’t imagine getting a full night’s sleep.

There are a lot of movies and shows being made in Canada, but most of them are American productions. Still, there have been some excellent Canadian ones which received international recognition in recent years. Canada has one tenth the population of the U.S., so opportunities are much fewer for local artists to become big stars here. Plus, the paycheques are smaller. :)

          2. A gallon is hard! That’s why I never make it anymore. Apparently, twice was my limit. Lol. My friend does it tho and I’m amazed. You literally have to have water with you everywhere you go all day long. Drinking with a straw helps. Start with 13 sips and go from there. I know it sounds silly but it is easier. I will say that I don’t know that a gallon of water is good for everybody. Gilly pointed out to me that people have died from too much water so my goal is just to be hydrated. I feel the same way about a lot of the rules for Code Red. First of all, they’re rules and I don’t do those very well. Lol. But if I’m craving fruit I eat it. If I’m hungry after 6:30 I get something to munch on. I don’t do chips, sweets or pop tho but celebrations happen and I celebrate. – That’s too bad that you have to leave Canada to be a big star. Canada is so beautiful you’d think one of the big studios would’ve come in there by now. Ryan Reynolds bought a soccer team. I’m surprised he hasn’t brought in his own studio.
