THURSDAY 13 – RANDOM

If it’s Thursday, then it’s got to be time for my Thursday 13!
Thursday 13 is just a list of 13 things you choose to post, and it’s my go-to post for all Thursdays that I first learned of from Liz over at Laws of Gravity. If you want to join in, go over to New Thursday 13 and sign up with Mr. Linky. FYI, it’s not as easy as you might think.

1 – My morning Angel card. – The Chariot, I’m on my way with Archangel Metatron by my side!
*** Metatron, his name means the angel of presence.

2 – We’re having a super windy day today!
My favorite weatherman, Kody, posted this. His forecasts are 110% accurate, and he’s funny!

3 – A quote I read online today. Perfect for the times we’re living in.
“It’s easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled.” ~ Mark Twain

4 – I love that it’s warm enough to have the windows open. I don’t love that my dog almost broke thru the screen to get to a squirrel. And this is why we have sticks in the windows and sliding glass door.

5 – This was such a good book. I highly recommend it.
The Story Collector by Evie Woods

6 – Easter is coming up and there was a conversation about using paper plates. That was a big no for me. What about you? Is it okay to use paper plates at the holidays?

7 – I made this crazy bookmark when I was sick in bed.

8 – Please retire this phrase, “Do better.”

9 – The #1 best seller on the New York Times best seller list is…
Say You’ll Remember Me by Abby Jimenez
Have any of you read it?

10 – The #1 trending song in the U.S. is “Lachryma” by Ghost.
I like the band Ghost. They have an old rock vibe. Lots of guitars.

11 – My windows are open, and I’m listening to a “garage band” the next street over practice all of their music. They sound pretty good.

12 – My son’s fridge notes.

13 – The day I’m looking forward to and yet not.. My second oldest grandson’s high school graduation. I’ll be heading back east at the end of May, same as I did last year for my oldest grandson’s graduation. Man, where did the time go?
I’m already crying and I know my daughter will be a wreck… They all just grow up so fast!
This is the countdown on my phone.

MIMI’S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY –

  1. I think paper plates are fine for holidays, after all the feasting and catching up, no one wants to spend hours washing up when everyone else has gone home. It might be different for those with dishwashers.

  2. Is that an octopus mug?? Love it! Also love the owl bookmark. My childhood friend’s grandma made me a bookworm bookmark when I was a child. It looked like a worm. I gave it back to my friend a few years ago and told her to give it to one of her grands.

I just borrowed the Jimenez book from the library. I’ve read some of her books and liked them. There is a funny TikTok of her at a book signing or something and the fire alarms went off and these really hot firefighters show up! Too funny, considering she’s a romance writer.

    1. It is an octopus mug! I have 4 of them, all different. I love octopi because they’ve got 8 arms and I have 4 kids and 4 grandkids, so, that big blobby head is me. Lol. I’ll post pics of the other mugs on another Thursday 13.

That is so cool that you held onto that bookmark for all that time and then gave it to your friend for her grandkids. So cool. I did that one just because I needed to do something. My energy was just coming in zips and zaps when I was sick. I want to crochet some more tho. Maybe I’ll crochet 13 for another Thursday 13. :)

From the cover of the book it looked like a book I would categorize as my summer reads. Nothing too in-depth, something that flows, easy to read. I’ll have to check her out and that TikTok. I’m always up for some smokin hot fireman!

  3. Put rocks in the kids pockets — heeheehee! I wish we had a weather person with this kind of personality around here.

Grandpa insists on paper plates at holidays, unless Grandma overrules him, which she seldom does these days.

Your bookmark is precious, I really like owls.

The thought for the day can be summed up, I think, as don’t bury your inner child.

    1. I love this particular weatherman because he is soooo accurate and what’s crazy is that he’s not on t.v. and he gets voted the Best Meteorologist in our community.

No paper plates at the holidays is just a family thing I guess. Lol. Paper plates for holidays is apparently the norm so I’m the odd man out. Lol.

Thank you for the compliment on my bookmark. My daughter loves owls and it was just something I could whip up during flash moments I had of feeling better before I would crash again.

Yes. That is the thought for the day, don’t bury your inner child and I never will. The world, despite what’s happening now, is pretty amazing.

  4. I can’t take credit for Thursday 13. I found it through another blogger, but I’m happy to pass it on to others. (https://newthursday13.blogspot.com/)

My window is open, too. Chilly day, but not winter cold. I’m all for paper plates at holidays, depending. Large crowd? Need easy cleanup? But I’ve never been one to stand on ceremony. I know some families need the formality. If that’s you, then, by all means, no paper plates.

    1. Growing up we always had special place settings for Christmas and Easter and when I got a home of my own I too got special place settings. Now my kids have their own special plate settings. I don’t know where it all began but all I can remember is that my Grandma had special place settings too. Lol. Tablecloth, napkins, the whole dressed up experience. I remember being younger and complaining about helping with all of the dishes and glasses and silverware and my Mom would always say, “It’s once a year, you can manage.” Pretty long answer for why no paper plates for me at the holidays. Lol. We have paper plates on hand and we use them from time to time so it’s not like I’m totally against them. Just not at the holidays. Lol.

  5. #13: I hear you! Next week, when I’m on vacation, I’ll have dinner with my oldest friend’s daughter. Her “little girl” is now 27! I remember when she was so small I could carry her carrier in the crook of my arm like a handbag. (The Gal Herself from One Gal’s Musings)

    1. And she’ll always be that little girl, right? Even though you’ll be looking into the eyes of a grown women you’ll still see those chubby cheeks of a child…

I wish we could just roll the years back and get a do over.
