THURSDAY 13 – Happy, Happy, Happy, Happy

Good Morning!

AND… ♥♥♥♥

To this handsome guy right here!
My 2nd son and my number three in the birth order.
How did 34 years just whip through our lives?
This young man is hilarious, super smart, a college grad, a hard worker, an amazing singer – think Michael Buble’ – and honestly, everybody loves him! Omgosh. I just love him to pieces and you guys, he would make you laugh so much.
He’s been nothing but a joy, seriously, and I am so lucky.

Okay! Well, it’s Thursday, so it’s time for my Thursday 13!
Thursday 13 is just a list of 13 things you choose to post on, you guessed it, Thursdays!
What would your Thursday 13 look like?
If you want to join in, go on over to New Thursday 13 and sign up with Mr. Linky.

1.) I still can’t hear out of my right ear. They gave me steroids in case I had an inflamed nerve in my ear. Apparently I don’t otherwise the steroids would’ve worked and I’d be able to hear out of that ear. Next stop, the ears, eyes, nose and throat Dr. but not until after my trip back east for my grandson’s graduation. Thankfully my eyes still work because the most important thing to me right now is seeing my grandson graduate!

2.) If the Drs. can’t figure out what’s going on with my hearing I may have to get a hearing aid and holy hell those things are expensive even with insurance!

3.) My daughter, who’s son is graduating, keeps backyard chickens and her favorite chicken is Betty.
This is my daughter and Betty.

4.) I decided to make Betty a friend. Her name is Hazel and she has her very own AI chicken coop.

5.) I was sad to hear that Pope Francis had died and I’m curious to see who our next Pope will be. I hope it’s someone with a progressive mindset like Pope Francis had.

6.) I accidently ended up watching a movie on Paramount+ that I thought was going to be a series.

It was different… It’s supposedly about the voting in of the next Pope when the current Pope dies. It could’ve been a good movie if not for the ridiculous ending. So there’s 120 minutes of my life I’ll never get back.

7.) I’m working on another crocheted chicken. Apparently my daughter and I are both obsessed with chickens now. She can’t stop buying them and I can’t stop making them. In her defense tho, we did have chickens when the kids were growing up so it’s a nice memory for her and now for her kids too.

8.) I totally spaced that we’ve had Easter since I last posted. Geesh. I hope everyone had a good holiday. It’s amazing how the Easter bunny just keeps bringing you a basket no matter how old you get.

9.) My favorite Easter candy is the Brach’s black jelly beans.

10.) I need to get my hair cut before my trip. I’m thinking a bob of some sort, longish or shaggy, or a shaggy pixie. I haven’t decided yet but I’m leaning towards the shaggy pixie.

11.) I drank my coffee with milk this morning rather than Half and Half. The difference is like making cream of tomato soup with milk or making it with water which some people do. Not me. I need that extra creaminess!

12.) I think we need to take our dog to doggie school to learn how to get along with other dogs. He is so aggressive when he sees another dog and it doesn’t matter how big or how small the other dogs are. When we’re outside he’ll almost jerk your arm off with all of his charging and snarling and growling. Inside he goes nuts back and forth at the patio door. I know one day the blinds are going to come tumbling down.

13.) One of the side effects of the steroids they gave me for my ear is that they keep me awake. They also put me in a downer mood. So, basically I’ve been up all night with a shitty mood. Lol. Hopefully, I’ll wind down enough to get a nap in. If I’m that lucky I’ll be back around to visit and comment on your posts when I wake up.

Well, here we are in May… Holy smokes. Next month we’ll be half way to Christmas! Lol. I can’t wait! Aside from heading out to my grandson’s graduation I have zero plans for the month of May. I’ll be back east until the first week of June and I have a feeling June will be a busy month for me.

What are your plans for May? June?? Anything thrilling and spine chilling you’d like to share?? I’d love to read about them so drop me some comment love so I can be the nosey bitch that you all know me to be!

    1. Lol. My daughter’s neighbors complain about their roosters. When we facetime I can hear the roosters in the background and they’re so loud! I told my daughter she needs to get a peacock. Her neighbors would really love her then. – There are a ton of chicken patterns on YouTube and I think I’m just going to make them all! Lol. – Why don’t I know what a bookghan is?? Do you have pics in a post? I need to see and maybe make one of those too! I hope you’ll post your gnomes. – Oh, and super jealous of where you live. I was just looking at the safest place to live over there as far as volcano eruptions, tsunamis, hurricanes, fires… The weather just seems so perfect. I guess the trade off is natural disasters?

      1. Think of squares in an afghan… each square using yarn colors to reflect the cover of a finished book. My gnomes are all from PamPino Crochet on Etsy… they’re adorable.

Weirdly, we have random peacocks, too. I hear them sometimes, although I rarely see them. I live on O’ahu. We get monsoon season, and the occasional vog from the constantly erupting volcanos on the Big Island, but not too bad. I live on the North Shore, so it’s a bit cooler than the south side of the island… Waikiki and Honolulu.

        1. Well, I hope you’ll post your bookghan when it’s done. It sounds super cool. – Hawaii just sounds like a laid back place to be with plenty of sunshine. Not too hot. Not too cold. I love my snow but I do not like the triple digit heat we get here in Idaho. I suppose if I lived in Hawaii I could leave during monsoon season and head for some snow. :)

  1. Love the crocheted chicken. Next you should try one with blanket yarn to get a big, soft pillow out of it. Congrats to your grandson. And happy birthday to your son.

    1. Thank you! The only blanket yarn I have on hand is gray and I was wanting to make a hippo out of that. I’m trying to use up all of the yarn and fabric that I have before buying any more! Lol. Do you think I can do it?? 😂

      1. I understand. I’m on a bit of a yarn diet at the moment, too. But use it all up? Good luck with that. (I mean, I hope you make it, but I rather doubt you will.)

          1. My “good luck” was serious, not sarcastic. I just started a tote bag with the plan of using up some old acrylic yarn.

          2. Oh. I know. It’s super challenging. I also need to finish up soooooo many blankets and sweaters… Liz. And this is just what’s in my home. Let’s not talk about the bags upon bags in storage. I think I have a serious yarn problem..

  2. The hearing loss is concerning! I’m so sorry. I hope the treatment works. How fun to see pics of two of your kids. They both have beautiful smiles. Happy birthday to your son! Time sure does fly, doesn’t it? My youngest turned 30 at the end of last year. I still can’t believe it.

Those crocheted chickens are so neat! I have two that my grandmother made. I display them with plastic eggs in them in my childhood Easter basket (it’s wooden, cause I’m old!!!!) during the Easter season. I’ve never seen any other ones, so it was so cool to see yours!

Have a great time at the graduation and safe travels. XO

    1. The hearing loss is concerning especially because it was so sudden. It’ll be interesting to see what they find but they’ll have to find it after graduation because I am laser focused on that right now. Lol. I can’t believe my kids have graduates of their own now. It’s like all of the sudden life did some kind of fast forward and here we are. – Thank you for your kind words about my kids. They are so much fun. I’m super lucky. – Omg. I can’t believe you have crocheted chickens! You’ll have to post them because I’ve seriously got a YouTube lineup of all of the ones I want to make! Apparently they’re best sellers at craft fairs but I don’t do those BUTTTTTT I might if I had enough chickens! Lol. Honestly tho, I’m just trying to use up all of the yarn I have without buying anymore. :) – Oh. And I’m heading out at the end of May so you’re stuck with me for a few more posts.

  3. Hazel sure turned out so pretty!! I can’t crochet or sew or knit… though my mom did and I think passed on those skills to my daughter… I do draw every once in a while though

  4. This is way late, but Happy Birthday to your son! And congrats to your grandson for his graduation. Happy times and travels to you! Sorry about the ear problem. I hope they find a solution that doesn’t involve hearing aids. They do cost a fortune!

    1. Thank you, thank you. I’m excited to see my grandson cross that stage to get his diploma. I watched my oldest grandson last year. It’s going to be a weepy day for sure. Excited that they’ve earned their diploma and are headed to college but sad that the little boys are now grown men.
