THURSDAY 13 – We will always remember…

Happy Thursday! Decided on a Thursday 13 today. Just a list of 13 things. As always, a big thank you to Liz over at Laws of Gravity where I originally saw the post.

1.) I’m done with being sad. Between yesterday’s shootings and today’s remembrance of 9/11, I’m just done.

2.) I don’t care which side of the aisle you’re on, shooting someone in the neck or anywhere else is never the answer and completely unacceptable!

3.) I don’t care who got a flag lowered for them and who didn’t, who got more air time on the news, who had the biggest protests, funerals, or whatever. I don’t care. It’s petty, and we need to pay attention to the things that truly affect our country.

4.) I knocked my news watching time down to once a week on Fridays. I try to catch a re-cap of what’s been going on because I don’t want to be sucked into the negative abyss that is now the media. Yesterday was my Friday news re-cap.

5.) No, I didn’t see the video of Charlie Kirk getting shot. No, I’m not going to watch it. It’s heartbreaking. I wasn’t a fan of his, but he didn’t deserve to be shot for exercising his right of freedom of speech.

6.) Charlie Kirk is the same age as my youngest son. Things hit you different when there are similarities to your kids.

7.) Yesterday morning we had wonderful thunderstorms. I was hoping for a whole day but I am thankful for what we got. Fall might actually be trying to arrive!

8.) My son and daughter-in-law got a “new to them” vehicle the other day. It’s beautiful and only has 52,000 miles on it.

9.) Next year we will be spending Halloween in Salem, Massachusetts and I can’t wait!

10.) Attention, attention. Covid has left the building! Finally!

11.) I am totally hooked on the British show, ‘Escape To The Country’ and having watched this show countless times, I know I want to live by the sea in a detached home with a thatched roof. And there has to be a deck outside so I can have my coffee, listen to the waves crashing against the rocks and watch the boats floating along.

12.) I woke up at 1:15am and couldn’t get back to sleep, so I decided to write this post.

13.) Now I’m tired, and I am going back to bed!

Happy Thursday, everyone! I hope you have at least 13 things to smile about today! If not, I hope you at least don’t have 13 things to frown about! Turn that frown upside down, right? Okay. I’m getting really sleepy. I’ll be back in a few. Night!

MIMI’S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY –
We will always remember…

    1. Me either. I remember being in total shock. I didn’t hear about it until I got to work and everybody was watching the big screen. I told my boss I was leaving to go get my kids because I didn’t know what was happening or going to happen. We lived near Gowen Field at the time, and then we have an Air Force base 45 mins. South of us. I wanted my kids with me. It was so scary. I called my parents to ask them what to do because they experienced WWII first hand. I still can’t watch the attacks on TV. Once was all I could do. All the posts aren’t wrong, we will never forget… Love you too, Sandee. xoxo

  1. A sad day of remembrance, and on the heels of that political assasination, even worse! 😢 I agree with your points on that. On the upside, hurray for the departure of COVID! Hope you got some rest! 😴

  2. I’m so glad you’re now Covid-free. I’ve gotten into watching 5 Things on the HBO Max app, which is a very short news show. Just the headlines. That’s enough for me right now.

    1. Thank you. I have 5 Things in my email. It’s frustrating how the news or fake news or whatever news it is, just pops up on every app and it’s like a non-stop saturation. I can’t do that anymore. It’s too depressing.

  3. I’m with you, Mimi!!! I don’t even watch the news. I get an email every morning with world news highlights (and fun facts at the end of it). It’s called the 1440 Daily Digest. I feel like it is not slated towards any side, which I like.

Remember the good old days when people didn’t talk about religion and politics?? We need to go back to that. I’d rather not know who people worship or voted for. Let’s just be people who look out for one another! XOXO

    1. I agree. No politics, no religion, and please don’t tell me who your favorite NFL and NHL teams are because that’s a debate that could carry on all night, mainly because everybody knows the Lions and Wings are the best of the best, oh, and U of M. Lol.
