MONDAY – SIMPLY

Today’s post is brought to you by…

Looking out my window

Foggy, cloudy, gray. I think a couple of snowflakes may have drifted down, but I think my hopeful snowy ship has sailed. Now I suppose we prepare for a hellacious fire season.

I am thinking
The flu hits you different the older you get.

I am thankful
All things warm and cozy in my warm and cozy home. Soups, teas, blankets, and fuzzy socks.

One of my favorite things
Is knowing that I am loved and cared for.

I am creating
A new tea time ritual.

I am listening to
The sounds of my fingers hitting the keyboard. Clickity click click.

I am wearing
Snuggly long johns (Cuddl Duds.)

I am reading
Forgotten Bones – Whitby’s Forgotten Victims by Wes Markin

I am learning
To listen to my body. Rest is essential to healing. It’s a hard pill to swallow but trying to claw your way out of being sick with positive thinking and “pushing through” is pointless and knocks you even further back on your ass.

In my kitchen
The smell of left over pulled pork.

A moment from my day
Trying to take my dog for a walk. Huge mistake. I am freezing to my bones! When I was little and us kids would get sick and had to stay home from school, my parents would tell us to get outside and the get the stink blown off! And it worked! We’d end up running around with our coats unzipped, laughing and playing. It wasn’t an instant fix, but we sure felt better, and I think that helped in our healing. – Warning Will Robinson, warning! This does not work when you’re old. You’ll just be fucking cold.

P.S – Yes, I got my flu shot.

  1. Being sick sucks. Rest is the best thing. I hope you are feeling better.

I read something recently about vaccines. They did this study that found that the vaccines had unexpected benefits. That people who were vaccinated had a better chance of not getting other illnesses, and something about dementia risks being lower. They weren’t sure why.

    1. I hate being sick. It’s such an inconvenience. Before I had cancer, I got that once-a-year cold, and since the cancer, every germ floating through the air attaches itself to me. – I try to keep myself up to date on my vaccines, so it’s always a little frustrating to me when I get the flu vaccine and then get the flu. So lame.

  2. I had a terrible case of Influenza A two years ago at this time. It took me 6 weeks to recover (after finally getting on an antibiotic and an inhaler because it was turning into walking pneumonia). I think that was the sickest I’ve ever been, except having mono in college. And YES, I had the flu shot that year. I hope you are feeling back to normal.

My tea time ritual: reading a book, having 2 cups of tea, eating some mixed nuts and a square of 80% dark chocolate. So freaking enjoyable!

  3. This is a nice list to read through. My typing fingers don’t go clickety click, it’s more clack..search…clack…search, but faster than it used to be.
