MISSED CONNECTION MONDAY – jan. 13

Missed Connection Monday is brought to you by your local Craigslist. These are real “love notes” that strangers leave for other strangers in the ‘Personals’ section on Craigslist. Or as I like to call it –
Your local serial killer hunting ground.

Your morning “friend”
You give me a reason to smile, and you make sure to let me know when I’m not lol. Your smile is beautiful is and intoxicating, and it’s there everyday. I think your name is Heidi but we’ve never actually exchanged names just conversation. There are so many things I want to say other than small talk but I’m terrified of you 😂. You’re out of my league for sure. Maybe in a different world or a different life or even a different time in our lives, the possibilities would be endless. I’ll see you in the morning, when I get my coffee.

**** Dear Your morning “friend,” She’s probably one of those serial small-talkers who talks to everybody in line. – Not me. – And yeah, I’m sure she flashes that beautiful, intoxicating smile around giving everyone a reason to smile. – Also, not me. – You think her name is Heidi? Here’s a tip. Stop being a fucking creeper and just introduce yourself. If she tells you her name maybe it’s something, maybe it’s nothing but you won’t find out by creepin’.
– P.S. – If you see her every day why are you posting on Craigslist??? Again, stop being a fucking creeper.

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a good weekend! If any of you are impacted by the California fires, please know we’re all praying for you.

How was your weekend? I worked on my WIPs (works in progress). A buffalo checked and red flannel rag wreath that I didn’t finish in time for Christmas and a crocheted fall throw that I didn’t get finished for my daughter’s birthday in October.

I hope you have a great week ahead and wonderful weather, whatever that is for you.
Is anyone watching Landman with Billy Bob Thornton in it? I just started and I’m hooked. It’s streaming on Prime and Paramont+ if you want to give it a little look-see. It’s pretty good.

NOT A MISSED CONNECTION MONDAY – jan. 6

A late night post so I hope you’ve all had a great Monday.  I’ve been napping a lot today. I hope I’m not coming down with something. I keep hearing about an intense flu and another Covid three times as bad as the original Covid. I would like none of those things. Being sick is not how I’m choosing to start out this new year.
This meme is exactly how I’m feeling at the moment.

So. Before I get into my favorite serial killer hunting ground “Missed Connection” posts on Craigslist I thought I’d post a definition of the word connection.

connection noun
something that connectslink

But Mimi, we all know what the word connection means. Hhhhmmm. We may all know but the freaks on Craigslist clearly do not…

SLIM BLONDE WITH TWO YOUNG KIDS WALKING IN FRONT OF THE SALVATION ARMY
On Monday December 30, around 2:15, I was getting something from my car, parked in front of the salvation army shelter on …blah, blah, blah… ave South. You and your little kids walked by and you looked and gave me such a nice smile. I tried to say hi, but my voice was muted. At least I smiled back. Hope to see you again there.
**** Dear author of this posting. She fucking smiled at you. There was no missed connection. Desperate much?
**** Dear Slim Blonde. Find another route to wherever it was you were walking to or from. This guy’s a creeper.

OLDER GENTLEMEN ON THE GREENBELT
Hi we crossed paths a few times, hoping you played on the same team
**** Dear author of this post. Crossing paths is not a missed connection. It’s people out fucking walking passing each other on the trails.
Also, “gentleMEN?” Were you wondering if they all played on the same team or they were the team? How many paths did you cross?

THE GIRL AT THE CO-OP
You were wearing jeans with a red top and shopping in the frozen goods section. You had a blonde female friend with you. You asked me to get a pack of chocolate pretzels from the top shelf for you. We locked eyes and you gave me a big smile and thanked me. It could have been nothing but we should have talked longer and gotten to know each other.
**** Dear clueless fucking author of this post. Miss jeans with the red top was fucking shopping… In a grocery store… Your grocery store… The one you fucking work at! Seriously. She’s just a customer asking for help with something off of the top shelf. She smiled and said thank you because that’s what people do when someone has helped them. This isn’t P. Diddy code for let’s have a freak party in aisle 7 with the baby oil. And “we should have talked longer and gotten to know each other???” Well, the first thing you should know is that women don’t like grocery shopping in general and we ESPECIALLY don’t like it after working all fucking day. So, no, there will be no chit-chat and getting to know each other. Just give her the fucking chocolate pretzels and go play in aisle 7 with your baby oil, Diddy. – Not a missed connection.

Okay, now that I’ve cleared that up hopefully we can get back to those real missed connections via the serial killer hunting grounds of all things Craigslist next Monday.

How was everybody’s day? Anything thrilling and spine-chilling to report? I’m super bummed that we’re not getting any of that snow going across the country.
Are any of you in the middle of it?? Be safe! Don’t shovel heavy snow and don’t go tip-toeing on the ice. It never ends well.

FRIDAY – Friendly fill-ins – jan. 3

Joining in some friendly fill-ins with Four-Legged Furballs & 15andmeowing.
And the fill-ins are…

1. My guideword for 2025 is – balance. Not to be confused with my Word of the Year, Wips.

2. I am counting the days to – I’ll give you a hint.
That’s right, Christmas and the countdown began at midnight on the 26th of Dec. 2024!

3. 2025 is the year that I will – watch my second grandchild graduate!!

4. I need to better organize – here’s another hint… Yessssssssssssssssssssss all of my crafting stuff!

That’s it for my fill-ins but you can fill in the blanks too and share them in the comments. I would love to see what your fill-ins are!

It’s also Feline Friday but since I am deathly allergic to cats and can’t have them, here’s a pic of our newest furry family member. His name is Beau. He’s a little over a year old so still a puppy. He’s a Maltipoo that was gifted to us. He’s super cute, super smart and we just love him to pieces!

Happy Friday, everybody!
Since I’m still recovering from that wild New Year’s Eve party I had in my living room, in my pajamas, toasting my loves with hot cocoa, I think I’ll stay in tonight and just kinda’ chill.

I don’t have any big plans for the weekend either unless it snows and then I’ll be out in it. We’ve had snow in the valley once. It didn’t last long but it was amazing. It was the best snow, packing snow, the kind of snow used for building snowmen, and having snowball fights! I took Beau for a walk in it and he absolutely loved it!  He must’ve gotten the vibe that loving snow is a mandatory prerequisite for being in our family. Seriously, I wish for tons and tons and tons more snow!

Got any snow lovers out there? What about your dogs and cats?
Three days into the New Year, so far so good, yes?
It’s a yes for me and I hope the same is true for all of you too!

WORD OF THE YEAR- jan. 2

WIPs
Works In Progress

Here’s a hint…

That’s right! Unfinished craft projects! So, A LOT of crocheting, cross stitching, quilting, watercolors, etc. in 2025. When you realize that you have more crafting time behind you than you do in front of you, it’s time to get the crafting shit done! Aaaannnd, if I run out of crafting time and end up scattered in Lake Michigan. I have a plan.

The Plan
Give everything to my kids for them to finish! I know, not fucking happening. That’s okay though, at least everything will already be labeled and in totes for when they have that big yard sale! I’m no fool.

This is me trying not to watch from the afterlife as my kids haul all of my wonderful craft things off to GoodWill or the trash.

So. That’s it. My word of the year is WIPs and I plan to WIP it real good!

Are any of you choosing a word of the year?
How about a phrase for the year?
Did you make any New Year’s resolutions??
Yep. I’m still the same nosey bitch in 2025 that I was in 2024 so share with me in the comments!

IT’S FRIDAY AND I HAVE A QUESTION

Good afternoon! It’s a beautiful sunny day here but it’s only in the 40s so I’m inside working on my to-do list. Unless it warms up my to-do list will be my weekend! I know that sounds boring but this shit isn’t gonna’ get done on its own!

Okay. So I have a question. Do any of you have one of those bottom kitchen cabinets? I think they’re called blind cabinets. They’re so deep and long that there’s no way you can reach all the stuff that ends up in the back end. I hope somebody knows what I’m talking about. It looks something like this…
Mine is this way but with a shelf in the middle.

My question is…
What do you put in this cabinet??
Mine has pots and pans, cake pans, lids, cookie sheets, muffin tins and I’m guessing anything else that never finds a place in the kitchen. I honestly don’t know because there’s stuff way in the back that I can’t reach. I’m pretty sure it’s all kitchen stuff though.

I’m thinking about a.) putting a flippin’ light in there somewhere! And b.) putting some boxes of non-kitchen stuff way in the back. Just using it for some extra storage space, ya’ ‘know? What do you guys think?
My sister’s blind cabinet had a lazy Susan in it and the cereal kept getting stuck or something would fall off the lazy Susan and then it wouldn’t turn. It was a pain so I know I don’t want one of those.
Over on Reddit, the most popular answer was to turn it into a cozy place for your cats but I don’t have any cats.
So. I’m open to suggestions.

That’s just one of my to-do list things. Today is cooking the pumpkins in the Instant Pot for some pumpkin bread, pumpkin butter, and pumpkin soup! And, I might even get the duster out to get to these ceiling fans. Who knows. Suddenly, I’ve just become obsessed with a to-do list. The holiday cleaning bug has hit!

Do you ever get obsessed with getting things done? To be honest, this obsession doesn’t hit me very often so I’m just gonna’ go with it and get as much done as I can before laziness takes over the obsession fades. I’m sure my future to-do lists will have winter markets and lots of books on them. Oh, and baking! Lots of baking.

What’s on your to-do list?
