That’s the beauty of having your own blog. You can post whenever you want. To be honest tho, one of my goals is to not miss ONE day of posting this year. I know. There’s a little bit of self-imposed pressure here but I’m okay with that because it’s self-imposed. Apparently, it’s only when I join some of these “challenges” where they say I have to post every day that I just say, “fuck it.”
Mimi stickin’ it to “the man” since she drew her first breath.
Because errands absolutely had to be run today, i.e., bills had to be paid. I grabbed boy child #3 and we hit the road. And because our city is not equipped for a good amount of snowfall the road crew only takes care of the main roads. This leaves most neighborhoods, including ours, a mess.
Tow truck companies are refusing to go into the neighborhoods because once the city puts out the, “don’t go out unless you have to” you are no longer a top priority for the tow truck drivers. They make themselves available for the “real” traffic emergencies that apparently are located only on the main roads.
So, basically our city is telling us, if you go out after we’ve advised you not to, that’s on you and you’ll get no help from us. Perfect. So what’s a person to do when they see someone stuck in one of the non-priority neighborhoods? Well, if you’re us, you stop to help.
Yeah. About that.
We stopped to help a stuck vehicle. The guy was trying to dig himself out with one of those fold up “you should carry this in your car at all times” shovels, making ZERO headway. Along comes miss “I am woman hear me roar” with a great big, “howdy neighbor, need some help?” Not even kidding. That’s exactly what she said. And her only idea was to get in the front of the vehicle and push while he spun his tires. Can you guess where that got this poor guy in nearly a foot of snow? Yeah. Nowhere.
My boy takes over our car mats and shovels and gets to work. All the while, “I am woman hear me roar” is mocking my son and going on and on about how it’s never going to work. My son was much nicer than me because I was ready to tell her to shut the fuck up but my son asked her very nicely to help push again and he told the guy to rock it, come forward, go back. “I am woman hear me roar” scoffs again, and again goes on and on how that’s not going to work.
Moments later – ta da! The guy is out of the snow and off on his merry way, apparently in a hurry because not a thank you was to be given this day.
Nope.
And I was so pissed at that woman, and the guy, that I was like, screw it. The next person we pass in the ditch can stay there. But that’s not us. I refuse to let the behavior of others dictate what I know to be the right thing to do.
Fortunately, we made it home without incident and without passing anybody else in need but if we had, we’d of stopped because that is us and I’m okay with that.
Tomorrow – ZERO chance of getting out on those roads. It’s -14 as I write this and those roads are a sheet of ice. This girl is stayin’ in and fondling her fabric!
Sorry for the late post. I have no excuses. When we finally made it home I laid down for one of those 15-minute power naps that turned into a ridiculous sleep fest. Ugh. Totally hate it when that happens. You wake up feeling like someone drugged you.
5 days into the New Year. I hope they’ve been good to you and I hope they continue to be. Stay safe, stay warm and no matter how shitty people are to you, stay the wonderful soul that you are.
Mimi’s quote for the day –
I used to try to post regularly, that’s when it started feeling like a job. Now I post when the spirit moves.
Your road conditions sound awful. The guy you helped might have been afraid to stop his vehicle to thank you, thinking it might slide back into trouble. Good for you and your son to help him. Sounds cold and miserable and guess that’s what’s on it’s way down here. Brr! Playing with your fabric seems like a real good idea.
Stay warm!

I never thought about the guy wanting to keep moving. That’s probably true because I know once I was able to get out of that neighborhood and onto the main road I wasn’t stopping. I hope you don’t get this crappy weather. It’s past the point of looking pretty. Stay safe n’ warm. And yes. Playing with my fabric is always a good idea.

I’m thinking the guy was afraid to stop to say thanks and get stuck again…the lady was an ass.
I hate doing this, but you might like this post about getting a car unstuck..

You’re right on both counts. Man she was a piece of work. I’m an independent woman, I’m all for women’s rights. I don’t however want to be a man. Ugh. – I’m heading to that post. 🙂

have to post every day – is a pressure I cannot take, and you end up posting something which has no substance.

I totally agree. Then you post just for the sake of posting and it’s obvious. Thanks for stopping by. 🙂

You intend to post every day this year? Wow, Karen, I am impressed! 🙂 I’m going to start up my blog again soon and I’d be happy if I could post regularly once a week.
I can’t believe how rude those people were, that woman mocking your son while he was helping, and the guy just driving off without even a “thank you”!! I’d be pissed too. You and your son are good people, stopping for others the way you do.
Staying in and fondling your fabric sounds like the perfect thing to do in that weather! 🙂

I’m hoping to post every day JLil and I would LOVE it if you started blogging again! You should! Please, please, please do! 😀 – Yeah that woman was the worst.. Oh well. We do what we do and leave the miserable idiots to themselves. I know if she gets stuck or tries to “help” someone else get unstuck she’ll remember the “rock the car” method. Something I thought everyone knew… – Fondling my fabric is the perfect thing to do in any weather! Haha

Big goals!!! You go girl!!!!
I’m really not good at keeping up on challenges. Instagram is my shiz though and manageable for me. I don’t miss many days on there but keeping up with blogging is hard for me.
I’m 100% the same as you if something says ‘MUST’ I’m OUT. There’s things on Instagram challenges for being featured with rules like you ‘MUST’ follow this list of accounts and you MUST tag people and you MUST like this post and you MUST MUST MUST……. Fuck off!!! That’s what I think of those stupid rules. I don’t have my photos featured too much!!! HAHHAAAA!!!!! Whateves.
Good on you for helping those people! Son of a bitch could have given a thankful wave out the window though. I help people often too and I always will. When someone can’t be bothered to mutter words of thanks I yell out YOU ARE WELCOME…..
I still will help the next poor soul though…. it’s just what we do.
Keep warm! It’s been a week of extreme cold here coming in at -9f.
I tap out at +10f. Unless it’s an emergency this bitch isn’t leaving the house… so this bitch hasn’t left the house this week. Warming up this weekend though.
Have a beautiful day with your fabric!!!!

It’s a huge goal and I’m trying to write as many posts in advance as I can just in case I’m sick or the world blows up. You know, one extreme to the other. – I’m not quite as addicted to Instagram. I’ll post crap and then spend zero time on there but I’m trying to do better. Keeping up with Twitter I’ve deemed impossible for me. That’s like a non-stop CNN ticker going all day long. – Yes. People can be idiots but like you, we continue to help and obviously we’re not in it for the “thank you’s” in this life. Hahaha. – Man, -9 YOU stay warm too! We’re at -2 and our high is going to be 7. Go us! We’re dry today with a week of mix ahead. Bleh. Oh well. Lots of crafting to be done! 😀

I’m no Twitter Twat either. That makes me want to stab people.
I feel like I’ve found a nice community there with nice people.
Of course there’s people and their MUST rules and assortment of bullshit but I like it there a lot and find it to be a good fit for me.
Craft out my dear! MWAH!!

With Twitter you literally having to be sitting there staring at the screen or getting a million and one notifications on your phone to keep up and by the time you do, in that nanosecond someone else has tweeted. It’s never-ending chaos over there. I’m happy you have Instagram. I’ll have to hang out more over there. Now that’s a pace I can keep up with. 🙂

Oh golly – I feel sorry for people who actually get REAL winter weather. My sister was moaning about how cold it is here (UK) and I laughed. I had 10 winters in Toronto so I know a little of what you are describing and thank goodness for people like you and your son! When we do get snow in Suffolk, it often does not lay and if it does, it’s very soon gone. It doesn’t come in November and stay until spring. I always laugh at how a few inches of snow throws people here. And as for the blog posting – I have done nothing on mine for weeks and weeks! Online life has taken a backseat since I had to start caring for my parents. I have been trying to complete a blog post and YouTube video for my craft website for days now and the demands of life have stopped me every single day! My visits to other blogs are sporadic but that is life for now. I do miss your humour and honest writing style – I should try to get here more. Oh and the guy who didn’t say thank you – yes I get that he needed to keep going but how much time does it take to toot the horn or let the window down and yell THANKS!

Oh yes. Living in Toronto DEFINITELY qualiefies you as a real winter weather suvivor! And thank you for your kind words about my blog. ❤ Your top priority is of course your parents and you will be blessed greatly for that.. ❤ I didn't know you had a YouTube channel. You'll have to drop the link when you have a moment.

Yes I will certainly do that when I go upstairs to my PC (I just got onto my channel on this IPad and can’t see how to send a link from the app – probably just being a bit thick!) It’s called RainbowLane and it’s a complete mishmash as I have never really found my way with it. It’s been a big learning process and I think I will eventually have another channel just for my craft stuff once my time is my own again. Do you have one?

Yay! I’ll go look for it and subscribe. 😀 Thank you Gilly!

Hahahaha. The very first channel that pops up ‘Rainbow Lane’ reads, “it’s not gay, trust me.” Hahahaha. Yours is below that one. 😀 Good thing you said it was a crafting.

I have always tried to do every other day but lately I have nothing much to say, havent’ been anywhere or taken pics. Just can’t keep up that kind of schedule. I used to be more open about what goes on in my life on my blog, but now I don’t dare cause I don’t know who is reading it and can use it against me. You know like they say the first lesson you learn in law school, ‘don’t commit anything to writing.’ lol And I hate the ‘nap hangover’ thing too. It’s why I refuse to nap even when I could really use one. Stay home and stay safe!

Lol. It’s a little late in the game for me to be worried about who’s reading my shit and who may or may not use it against me. I’m not breaking the law. I’ve written nothing to put me in jail so that leaves people I know or those who think they know me? Please. Bring it. I’m pretty sure I know a helluva’ lot more about them than they do me but I have no intention of using anything against anyone. Ain’t nobody got time for that! – Home I am!

I saw your post about this clod on Facebook yesterday. Not even a thank you? What a clod. Okay the lady was a bitch too.
You’re a nice person. I like your style and I like your blunt answers to stuff. Like shut the fuck up. You know that kind of blunt.
Have a fabulous day. ☺

Hahaha. Well, what is acceptable for me… I have to say I’m soooooo happy that my kids are so much nicer than me. Well, maybe not my daughter, she’s a lit’l sassy like her mom and my granddaughter is a little sassy like her mom. My mini Mimi’s. Interestingly enough, I can live with that. 😉
