Whoever penned those words was most definitely NOT a blogger.
Forgive me blogging world for I have sinned. It has been 67 days since my last blog post.
While I was gone…
– I did not discover the cure for cancer but I did use sunscreen so that’s kinda’ close.
– I also did not go tubing down the Boise River but I did go past the park that’s completely flooded by the Boise River, so again, close.
– I met a total hottie while shopping at Whole Foods and then went back to his place and had wild Animal Planet sex!
– Okay. I didn’t really meet a total hottie and go home with him to have wild Animal Planet sex… Kill joys
BUT… I was in Whole Foods and I did see a total hottie and I seriously thought about having wild Animal Planet sex with him!
So, yeah, I’m gonna’ count that as close too.
I started the Whole30 eating plan. You can read about the plan here.
Basically, it’s this –
Meat, fruit n’ veggies. No sugar, no grains, no dairy.
“Eliminate the most common craving-inducing, blood sugar disrupting, gut-damaging, inflammatory food groups for a full 30 days.”
After 30 days you start introducing more foods back into your meals and then you
pick n’ choose which ones stay based on the way they make you feel after eating them again.
So far, drinking my coffee black seems to be the most challenging aspect of this plan.
I didn’t realize how much I reeeaaallly love my fancy coffees!
Other happenings –
A wedding and a new grandbaby in October! Can you say busy, busy, busy?!
Plus the daily/weekly –
Breathing
Meditating
Going to church
Getting healthy, physically, mentally and spiritually
Hitting the trails
Therapy
Reading
Aaand… Trying to stay in the creative zone with lots of creative irons in the fire!
Keeping it all in balance, cutting out the negative and basking in the positive.
Those are my goals.
In the words of Ferris Bueller –
Here are a couple of the “creative irons” in the fire.
WIP (Work in progress) the first of many baby blankets for the new lit’l tummy nugget.
Bobble stitches and granny stripes. As soon as we find out if it’s a boy or girl I’ll add some color.
And, using up some scrap yarn whipping up some granny squares.
The “back” pic shows the weaving in of the ends with a tapestry needle. Sometimes I weave as I go. Whatever my mood. I really like the granny squares because they whip up so fast and you can do so many things with them.
I’m going to blog at least 3 times a week now. More if I can fit it in. I really enjoy it and I really miss it. And, I really miss all of YOU!
I hope you’re all doing well and I wish you all a fabulous week ahead!
Mimi’s quote for the day –
Good to hear from you Mimi. Try to remember that you can’t take care of anyone else unless you take care of yourself first.

Thank you Bernadette and that’s so true! It’s taken me yeeeaaaaars to finally ease myself into that way of thinking but I think I’m getting the hang of it now. 🙂 Although, I have to admit, some days are a bit more challenging than others. Thanks for stopping by.

How long have you been on that Whole30 plan? I imagine I would be raping the sugar canister within a week. I think that’s how humans are meant to eat, actually, fruits, veggies, and meats. Not Mac Donald’s, or Fannie Mae, or Banquet TV dinners …

Hi SJ! The thing about Whole30 is that it takes those sugary cravings away. In fact, I’m glad you mentioned that because sugary anything unless it’s naturally sugared will be in special occasion, limited quantities for me. I don’t miss the sugar except in my fancy coffees and I will be having one of those once a week but nothing else. Cheese is a big one for me. So, so difficult to go without and the seasonings, Old Fish Bay, Creole, even simple Season Salt, all have sugar in them. And I completely agree with you. I think meats, fruits n’ veggies are supposed to be our natural food plan.

That Whole30 plan sounds awful. You lost me with my coffee. Not going to happen. I’m having my fancy coffee right now. Yummy.
Good to see a post from you. I missed you, but I know you have a lot going on.
I think you need to go back to Whole Foods and find that hottie.
Have a fabulous day. ☺

Hahahahahahahaha! In truth, it is awful because it takes all of my faves away but all of those faves have ended up on my big ‘ol ass over the years so something’s got to give before the floor gives out from under me! 😀 I WILL have my fancy coffees again only now they’ll be a once a week special treat. Other sugary stuff is definitely out, along with chips n’ all that good stuff that is so bad for me. – Thanks for missing me. I miss you too. I’m not on FB anymore. I supposed that should be in my next post.

I’ve lost about 25 pound by avoiding sugar, processed food, bread and other carbs. Sugar is an addiction that is easier to break than smoking, but it is not easy. Love your close but not quite’s. Having lost some weight, I am now a hottie in the supermarket…well my belly doesn’t hang over my belt, so that’s kinda close.

Congratulations Joe! I haven’t reached 25lbs yet but I will! You know sugary stuff is not really my thing other than my coffees which I will limit to one day a week. Chips are off my menu permanently and bread but I’m not a big bread person. Once my 30 days are up my biggest challenge, after my coffee, will be cheese. Omgosh. I love a super, super, super sharp cheddar and I love feta. I’ll have to watch myself there. Oh. And I did stop smoking once and for so there’s that too. I feel so much better it’s crazy. – I’ve seen your pics. You’re definitely a hottie. Mrs. C is a very lucky and I’m quite certain happy woman. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by.

Aw. I miss you too. I’m posting a lot on Instagram if you have that, which, with all of those beautiful photos you take I can’t imagine you don’t! If you don’t have it, you need to get it! 🙂 – The Whole30 is basically – very basic – a cleansing program and it helps retrain you in eating healthy. So much to it but that’s brief. So it’s not really a diet it’s definitely a change of eating habits. It’s challenging but I feel great inside and out! I go exploring outside every day. That’s my Planet Fitness – literally. Hahaha 🙂 – Blog more! I really miss you and get an Instagram account!

Welcome back! There’s more to life than blogging (did I say that?? SHHH!), so, no need to feel guilty or sinful. 🙂 Sounds like you have some exciting stuff happening. That Whole 30 diet seems to be getting more and more popular. I couldn’t drink coffee black – would rot my stomach. Best wishes for a happy, healthy outcome! I’m suffering internet fatigue after that April marathon, but will be around – just less than usual for awhile. Happy Spring!

Thank you, Debbie and sshhh, I agree. 🙂 I don’t blame you for the internet fatigue. That A to Z is brutal! I won’t say never but it won’t be anytime soon for me. I’d have to start writing now and I’ve got so much good stuff going on I don’t want to weigh myself down, if that makes sense. My soon to be, daughter-in-law did the Whole30 and lost 27lbs in a month and wow, what a difference it made, inside and out. When I saw it work it’s magic right before my eyes I had to give it a try and it’s not even a diet. It’s just, I suspect, our original way of eating. I’m going to stick to it even after the 30 days. It really is that good and makes me feel wonderful.

You’re such a rockstar Karen! And of course I’ve been enjoying your instagram feed. There’s nothing to feel guilty about..in fact, give guilt a once-and-for-all kick in the ass. And is it really 67 days since you posted? I don’t think so! Hehehe. Anyway, good you’re back…even if you were not, we’re connected and I am happy about that.
You have been so busy! and I’ve heard of the Whole30–it apparently works if you stick diligently to it. I think following even half the rules would help create healthy habits, eh?
Those granny squares are cute! By the way, you mentioned finding out if it is a boy or girl. In India that’s illegal now. 🙂 Not that it is stopping most people…still.
Hugs! So happy to see your posts in my mailbox again!

Vidya, I always love to hear from you. It’s an instant smile on my face. I’m sure you have the same effect on everyone you meet. Sssshhh. No, it really hasn’t been that long. I just deleted my loser posts. Hahahaha. 🙂 I’m so happy we’re connected too! – Wow. Illegal to find out what you’re having?? What’s the reason behind that?? That sounds so crazy. Great big hugs to you my friend!!

I’m just getting caught up. Girl you have been BUSY!!!!!
Good job on finding a plan to motivate you. Self care is super IMPORTANT body, mind soul!
I quit white sugar last year. I was to a point where I felt out of control with it and the more I had the less satisfied I felt. It’s been a good 9 months or so now. I didn’t do the ‘I Quit Sugar Plan’ I just decided I needed to get my shit together and quit sugar, so I did.
However I’ve got to a point where I felt that I could have a little sugar at the holidays and then move on from it again without it being a huge deal.
I’m so happy you’re feeling great and motivated! YEAH!!!! xx

Thank you so much Tracie. Making healthy choices is just really satisfying to body and soul, isn’t it? Having cut out all of the junk food in my life there are so many things I won’t be bringing back after my 30 days. I just don’t want to lose this feeling of feeling great! 😀
