THANKFUL, THIRSTY, THINGS

TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR…
1.) – Anyone who takes the time to read the words I write. Really. I appreciate you and I’m thankful for you.
2.) – I’m thankful that I finished one of my crocheted blankets.
3.) – I’m thankful that I had extra oil and coolant in the back of my vehicle today because I needed both!
THIRSTY –
I know that one of my favorite summer drinks definitely counts as a serving of fruit.

WATERMELON VODKA SLUSHIE
These are so delicious and refreshing.
You can find a fabulous recipe for them at ‘Just A Pinch.’
Personal note – I find that the alcohol measurements in most drink recipes, much like speed limits unless there’s a cop nearby, are merely suggestions.
THINGS –
Many, many things going on.
**Idaho passed a law that says you can get a $90 ticket for going too slow in the left lane.
Now if they’d pass one for people who don’t know how to use their fucking blinker!
**Still playing the “hurry up and wait game” with my sister’s drs.
**Not playing the “hurry up and wait game” with my own docs.
One appt. down, 5 more to go.
**Many, many projects to finish up. I’m currently crocheting and hand embroidering. I’ll post pics as I get the majority of “things” done.
**Just joined The Great American Read. It’s 100 of America’s most loved books AND it’s a show on PBS hosted by Meredith Viera.
I know I’m late to the game but I’m in and I’m not rushing. I’m reading the ones I can check out online from our local library first.
Currently, I’m reading ‘Anne of Green Gables’ and I had no idea there were so many chapters in this book! What the hell? And it’s sort of ridiculous. I remember watching the old – really old – ‘Anne of Green Gables’ when I was little. It didn’t seem as hokey as this book BUT I’m going to finish it because I want to read ALL 100 books!
**Netflix is not helping my insomnia in the least. They have a new creepy crime show on…
These people are vile and disgusting and beyond creepy and doesn’t this guy look like a creepier death row Uncle Fester?
You know, Ted Bundy was vile and disgusting but at least he looked “normal” and he gave intelligent and informative interviews.
Did Mimi just defend a serial killer?
What are you thankful for??
When you’re thirsty what’s your “go to” drink?
What things do you have going on??
Please share in the comments below and have an amazing evening!

  1. The watermelon and vodka slushie sounds so refreshing! Must try that. My usual summer fare (besides wine with dinner) is either Long Island Iced Tea (there’s no tea in it. 🙂 ) or traditional lime Margarita, but I’m also partial to Vodka and cranberry juice.

So many things to be thankful for! A long successful marriage, travel opportunities, many internet friends and even a few real-world ones. Oh – and Rod Stewart, whom we’ve seen perform many times and will again, tonight. Life is Good! 😀

On a sombre note, I just read your “Cancer Sucks” page and am saddened by all the pain and suffering you and your family have dealt with and are still dealing with. ❤ Sending love and hugs and positive thoughts. I'm so so sorry you lost your brother! Such a horrible disease! 😦

    1. Oh, I love Long Island Iced Tea and Vodka and cranberry juice. AND wine with dinner. We could so have a girls night out together! 🙂 – Boy, that is a long and successful marriage. I can’t imagine the commitment and all of the hard work that goes into that. I just read about my friend’s parents celebrating their 64th wedding anniversary. I’m certain that will be you and your hubs. 🙂 – Sooooo jealous of all of your Rod Stewart concerts! Have fun tonight!! – Thank you so much for your love, hugs and positive thoughts, Debbie, I really do appreciate them. This wretched cancer has definitely been a road of triumph and tears. As it turns out now, my sister has to go to Utah and have her entire stomach removed. At this point, I’m just numb…

      1. That’s shocking news about your sister! 😮 I’m so sorry…My heart goes out to her and your whole family. ❤ Without good health, nothing else in life truly matters.

If you ever get back to Michigan, I'd be willing to take a road trip and meet you for a few drinks. 🙂 Seriously, I think we would get along SO well!

        1. Well, that was the original prognosis but they thought radiation and chemo would help but neither one helped and another scope revealed the cancer all over her stomach but it hasn’t spread anywhere else so we’re thankful for that. And I totally agree about good health. – Yay! I would love that! I’m hoping to get there just before the holidays or just after and that would be awesome!!! I will keep you posted on that. Thank you! 😀

  2. I read somewhere that one should list three things one is thankful for while brushing one’s teeth. I’ve been doing it, and I kind of like it.

When I’m thirsty I drink water. It’s gotten to the point where I can’t tolerate much else in the way of beverages. Unless I’m sick. Then I need juice.

I read Anne of Green Gables when I was a kid. I read a lot in my tween years, and I hit the majority of the series. (Did you know it was a series? There’s like 5-7 books in it. By the end, Anne is married, and the later books deal with her kids. I think. It’s been years.)

    1. Hey, that’s a great thankful tip! I’m going to start doing that AND I’m going to pass that tip on! – I need to drink more water. I like water but I tend to drink coffee all day and when it’s hot or the weekend I reach for my cocktails which is an awful idea when it’s hot. Every now and again I’ll want juice but I have fruit smoothies – no yogurt, just fruit – or fruit ices every day, those are refreshing. – Noooooooooooooo. There can’t be that many books about Anne with an E! I’m reading this one and I’m done. I’d never read this book before and now I wish I had read it when I was a kid too. It might have made it more tolerable. – Thanks for stopping by Liz. I’m heading your way. Have a bottle of water ready! 😀

  3. I’m with you on the drinks. You crack me up. You and I could have a great time having some cold adult beverages.

I’m still praying for your sister and a great outcome.

I’m thankful for you. You’re a ray of sunshine and often. Thank you.

Have a fabulous day and weekend. Big hugs. ♥

    1. Yesssssss! I feel the same way! And thank you for the prayers for my sis. Stage 2 is a great prognosis but she does have to have her entire stomach removed so that will be a challenging new normal but she’ll be alive and that’s all that matters to me – I know, I’m selfish. – I am always, always so thankful for you, Sandee, you brighten my days so much more than you know… ❤

  4. Aha! I believe I am being recognized!

Wine and bloody Mary’s count, as far as I’m concerned. My go-to drink is water – the days of wine and other spirits is over for me, but I don’t mind.
    Take care!

    1. You’re here! Woo hoo! Water really is the only thing any of us should be drinking but I fail miserably sometimes. 🙂 So happy you’re back!

  5. I wish I could have alcohol but the side effects/reactions aren’t worth it. Rash, stuffed up nose, asthma, face feels red, hot and tight. My go to drink is green apple gatorade. I’m thankful for being able to have a dog a couple days a week to ease the sting of losing Sagan.

    1. Wow. I wonder why you have those side effects. Obviously, you’re allergic to something in the alcohol. And I can’t have anything green apple. I’ve hated the smell ever since I was a kid and I have no idea why. – I’m thankful you have a furry love to love on a couple of times a week too. I’m very sorry about Sagan. ❤

  6. What a cool way to do a thankful post. I used to do these all the time and haven’t been writing as much recently. Maybe I’ll get back to it because I can always be thankful for things like watermelon slushy vodka drinks. YUM. Also, I’m so sorry about your sister – your family has been through a lot 😦

    1. Thank you, Kristi! And oh yes, please do get back into writing. You are missed! The slushies are sooooo delicious, perfect for front porch visits. 🙂 – Yes, our family has been thru a lot but we’ll push thru and pray for the best possible outcome. I’m certain my sister will pull thru. ❤
