2020 – ARE WE THERE YET?

Seriously? The weirder this year gets the more I just want it to be 2021 already.
This world has gone absolutely nutso.
And yet… There’s a part of me that finds the whole idea of ringing in 2021 somewhat frightening.

It’s like waiting for the other shoe to drop only you don’t know if it’s really a shoe you just know that whatever it is, it’s going to fucking drop.

THURSDAY – October 15
*****Thankful Thursday
1.) I’m thankful for my eyesight to see the beautiful colors of fall
2.) I’m thankful for snuggly hoodies for being outside walking in the wind watching the leaves fly.
3.) I’m thankful that we haven’t turned our heat on yet. It’s like a contest in our family. Who turns their heat on first.
4.) I’m thankful for pizza.
5.) I’m thankful for phone calls with my brother that always make me laugh so much AND we can discuss politics and still hang up the phone with “I love yous.”

FRIDAY – October 16

Happy Birthday to my oldest grandson, Seth.
He’s 14 today!
And to my mom who never could seem to remember Seth’s birthday even tho, he was born on her birthday.
~~I’m pretty sure she did it just to piss me off. It worked.~~
She would’ve been 91!
Our relationship wasn’t easy but I loved her very much…

Another virus-free week in the books for myself and those I hold near and dear.
I hope the same holds true for all of you.
My allergies are kicking up a bit but I’m good with that. It’s annoying and I feel like crap most of the time but as far as I know, at least for me, they’re not deadly.

Fall is here in full swing and the temps are dropping like a rock but still, we have yet to turn on our heat. It’s a small victory and a bit of a challenge throughout our family. Who can go the longest without turning the heat on.

I don’t know who started it or why, I’m sure it started out with someone calling someone else a pussy because they didn’t like the cold, which, being Michiganders is pretty much a sin. So, here we are, a family waiting to see who can freeze first!

How about where all of you are? Beautiful fall temps or temps dropping like a rock? OR… Who’s got snow??? I-CAN’T-WAIT!

Everyone, please, be safe when you’re out n’ about. They say this virus is getting worse. You know what to do. Keep yourselves safe and those around you.

TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR…
1.) – Anyone who takes the time to read the words I write. Really. I appreciate you and I’m thankful for you.
2.) – I’m thankful that I finished one of my crocheted blankets.
3.) – I’m thankful that I had extra oil and coolant in the back of my vehicle today because I needed both!
THIRSTY –
I know that one of my favorite summer drinks definitely counts as a serving of fruit.

Personal note – I find that the alcohol measurements in most drink recipes, much like speed limits ~~unless there’s a cop nearby~~, are merely suggestions.
THINGS –
Many, many things going on.
**Idaho passed a law that says you can get a $90 ticket for going too slow in the left lane.
Now if they’d pass one for people who don’t know how to use their fucking blinker!
**Still playing the “hurry up and wait game” with my sister’s drs.
**Not playing the “hurry up and wait game” with my own docs.
One appt. down, 5 more to go.
**Many, many projects to finish up. I’m currently crocheting and hand embroidering. I’ll post pics as I get the majority of “things” done.
**Just joined The Great American Read. It’s 100 of America’s most loved books AND it’s a show on PBS hosted by Meredith Viera.
I know I’m late to the game but I’m in and I’m not rushing. I’m reading the ones I can check out online from our local library first.
Currently, I’m reading ‘Anne of Green Gables’ and I had no idea there were so many chapters in this book! What the hell? And it’s sort of ridiculous. I remember watching the old – really old – ‘Anne of Green Gables’ when I was little. It didn’t seem as hokey as this book BUT I’m going to finish it because I want to read ALL 100 books!
**Netflix is not helping my insomnia in the least. They have a new creepy crime show on…
These people are vile and disgusting and beyond creepy and doesn’t this guy look like a creepier death row Uncle Fester?
You know, Ted Bundy was vile and disgusting but at least he looked “normal” and he gave intelligent and informative interviews.

1. – I’m thankful for great doctors!
***Unfortunately, my sister’s tumor surgery cannot be done in Idaho but we had a great almost surgeon here who referred us to a medical team in Utah.

2. – I’m thankful for great news!
***The great news is that the cancer doesn’t appear to have spread into any other organs.
The not so great news is that it has spread further into her stomach than the scans first showed so they will be removing her entire stomach.
3. – I’m thankful for modern medicine!
***Altho it sounds daunting and the medical procedures a bit extreme stage 2 stomach cancer is curable and this procedure has worked countless times and my sister is a great candidate for this surgery.

SO much to be thankful for.

It’s been a lit’l quiet in my corner of the world.
Busy but quiet.
Today was day 1 of a new schedule for me. In bed at 9pm and up at 4am.
Quite a change for a night owl who often times didn’t go to bed until 4am. This new schedule is supposed to increase productivity and I have to say, it has done that. At least for today…

We had zero trick or treaters last night. But I was ready!

The kids seem to be fewer and fewer with each passing year.
I don’t get it. If I could still trick or treat, I would!

RIGHT ON SCHEDULE

And just like that. I woke up to a morning that required me to throw on a sweater before I headed out.
After a summer of too many triple digit days, I am welcoming the cooler temps ahead. I’m sure we’ll see more temps in the 90’s before all is said and done but it’s September and I, for one, am standing here with arms wide open!
I’m looking forward to all things pumpkin spice and hoodies and hot cocoa and the holidays. I am not looking forward to bonfires because I’ve smelled enough smoke and seen enough fire this summer to last me a good long while. Give me a couple of summers without fire and smoke and I might be willing to gather round a campfire but not this year.
September is going to be a fabulous month for me. How do I know? Because it started with a lovely card from a beautiful friend with all kinds of love tucked inside.
My friend Tracie sent this to me. She lives in Finland and travels often to places I only dream of. She picked up this Miraculous Medal while she was in France. I cannot tell you how special this is to me. How special she is to me and how wonderful it feels to know you’re being thought of all the way on the other side of the world.

The background fabric is the dark purple. Different lighting when I took the other two kitty pics but these are 4 of the 12 applique kitties that will be on the quilt.
IN OTHER NEWS
The break line went out on my vehicle. It’s going into the shop tomorrow. It was a little scary when that happened. Fortunately, we have a great mechanic who does great work at an incredibly reasonable price and we are happy and thankful to have him.

Yesterday we were without power for over an hour. That sucked. No explanation as to why. Just out. Who knows. Idaho Power isn’t very forthcoming when it comes to their outages. I’m just happy it wasn’t longer.

The balloons are for the ‘Spirit of Boise‘ balloon fest. I’ll be heading down to the park this weekend altho I can sit on my patio and see a lot of them float by. I like seeing them take off up close and in person. It starts early, 7am but so worth it!
