RANDOM AT 2am

CURRENTLY –

1.) Thinking
***About my oldest turning 36 yesterday and wishing I had been more in the moment and less at work.
Happy Birthday, my firstborn, my first baby boy…
I couldn’t love you more or be more proud of the man that you’ve become.
You’re an amazing dad and an awesome son and honestly, I don’t know what I did to be blessed with your presence in my life but I am so thankful and appreciative.

2.) Enjoying
***Being alive.

3.) Feeling
***Accomplished because I finally got my quilt top all put together and I am now ready to start the actual quilting!

4.) Wearing
***Red nightgown that reminds me of Christmas.

5.) Needing
***To go to bed and yet here I am.

6.) Wanting
***To finish the book I’m currently reading so I can move onto the next!

7.) Listening
***To the ceiling fan.

8.) Making
***Lists of all of the stuff I need to get done before the holidays. Go ahead and laugh at me but they really are just around the corner…

9.) Eating
***Nothing. It’s after 2am. The last thing I ate tho was stuffed shells for dinner. They were delicious.

10.) Drinking
***Coffee, which explains #5.

What are YOU currently doing?
How was your weekend??
Everybody still have their fingers??

Did you go to any barbeques?
Stay home?
What was your favorite 4th of July food??

Did you go to the fireworks?
If you have any dogs, how did they do with all of the booming noises of the fireworks?

I have to say, my pup wasn’t bothered in the least this year. Last year she was a trembling, panting wreck of a pup. This year I just went to bed early and got her all snuggled in, turned on my creepy crime shows and she was snoring in no time at all and actually slept thru the fireworks. I was shocked but oh so happy.

Do cats freak out with the fireworks or is it just a dog thing?
I hope your weekend has been a good one. Mine has been relaxing. I went to a nice cookout on the 4th and we had perfect weather. Now we’ve got the 90’s inching their way to the triple digits so I’m inside with my million and one craft projects to finish up.

Okay. I think I’m going to make it into bed now. This is the randomness of me in the wee hours of the morn.
Happy Sunday!
MIMI’S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY –
Be well.

  1. You have a very handsome son and beautiful family! Where DOES all that time go? My oldest (also bearded) will be 39 this year and it seems like yesterday that I was yelling at his dad in the delivery roomπŸ₯΄ It’s good to know others are up at 2am pondering life! And congrats on the quilt milestone – I’d love those skills but dare not begin another craft as time is already short. I’ll just admire yours. Weekend is good so far thank you – visited a friend in hospital, visited my Great Neice on her 3rd birthday, bought a new camera lens and am now pondering where to take my mum today. Maybe just bring here here for lunch. That’s all. Happy July 4th in retrospect!

    1. Thank you and I have NO idea where time flies off to but it needs to slow it’s roll! – I’m awake more often than I’d like in those early morning hours but this one was planned somewhat. I wanted to get that quilt top put together! It’s challenging with you’re not working with a pattern and it is truly a scrappy quilt. I think it was a quilt challenge in one of my online groups. You couldn’t use anything but scraps on hand and boy those were running low for this quilt. It is most definitely a scrappy quilt. – Ah. The sign of a true photographer. You buy lens. I just look for a good quality camera on sale. Haha. πŸ˜€ – Birthday parties are fun, hospitals not so much… Enjoy your day with your Mom. What’s for lunch? πŸ˜€

      1. Lunch? I hang my head in shame. In the end, we decided to go later than planned and so mum got her own lunch at her house and we took her out for afternoon tea. But it was a nice tea because she got to have CAKEπŸ˜€

  2. We don’t participate in any fireworks or BBQs during the 4th. That ship has sailed. Not our cup of tea. We stayed home because all the idiots come out at the marina and out on the water. We didn’t have to much noise here and we went to bed our normal time.

Had a friend pass (she was in Hospice on Friday morning). So sad.

Saturday we went to visit our great grands. I had milk throw-up all over my shirt and pants. So worth it. Two little love bugs at 6 months of age.

Have a fabulous day and week, my friend. β™₯

    1. Sandee, I’m so sorry about your friend. I never like to hear to word hospice because I know heartache follows it. I hope loving on those precious love bugs helped ease your pain if only for a little while. I can’t believe they’re 6 months already! Man… If life had a motto it would be “Don’t blink!” – Also. I have reached that point of not wanting to go anywhere to see fireworks, especially with my pup here at home. BBQs are okay for the moment but I’m super picky. – Sending tons of love to you and a great, big comforting hug. Love you ❀ –

  3. You have a handsome son, and he has a beautiful family. Happy Birthday to him! Glad to know your pup slept through the fireworks. Some dogs totally freak out! Luckily, our houseguests were of the calm variety for the Canadian holiday weekend.

It was the hottest day of the year here on Saturday, with a humidex reading of 42C (108F). I don’t mind, though, because that means almost ZERO arthritis pain! Got a lot of yard work done, in between cooling off rest stops indoors. Thank you, William Carrier! πŸ™‚ It was pleasantly fresher this morning, so I have all the windows open.

    Happy crafting!

    1. Thank you so much. He had a very happy birthday. πŸ™‚ – Wowzers on that heat!!! I’m happy it helps with your arthritis pain but am also thankful for William Carrier! I think we’re a looong way off of windows open but I am longing for those cooler days already.

  4. Wishing many happy returns of the day to your wonderful son!

My kids had a few of their friends over on the 4th, we had a bite with them after we got back from work.

Air Conditioning Appreciation Days are here again!

    1. And of course i hit enter before i added, some cats, like our Horizon, are scared of everything and hide from storms and fireworks and their own shadows. Some don’t really care at all. I totally depends on the cat.

Also, i know that feeling of not wanting to go to bed until you read just one more chapter…

      1. Well, I’ve seen videos of cats freaking out over some funny ordinary things but I didn’t know if for the big things they were just chill. I suspect cats just do their own thing. πŸ™‚

  6. Happy birthday to your son.

Just riding out the earthquakes around these parts. Nothing too exciting this weekend.

    1. Thank you. πŸ™‚ I pass all of the birthday wishes on to him. – I didn’t know you were in the earthquake zone! Omgoodness. Be safe! Growing up in Michigan we had to learn what to do during tornado season with the possibility of the house being ripped away from around you. I can’t imagine what they teach you in case the ground opens up! That’s scary.

  8. Such a beautiful family πŸ™‚
My youngest at 38 is older than your oldest, ha ha. My oldest child is 46.
Fireworks are illegal here in Australia, on special occasions such as New Year’s Eve, each city puts on a display (ours is always the worst), but individuals are not allowed fireworks. You can’t even buy them anywhere.
I was also up at 2am, but in bed reading a book and drinking coffee.

    1. Thank you… Gosh. Can you really believe you have children in their 30’s and 40’s? In my mind, it doesn’t seem possible but then I look in the mirror… πŸ˜€ Some of the fireworks are illegal here too but for the most part, anything goes as long as you don’t get caught. A couple of years ago some kids were up in the hills shooting off fireworks on this dry, brittle, Idaho ground and they set acres on fire! Now they and their parents are paying for it. As prone as we are to wildfires out here I don’t think fireworks should be allowed until we have snow on the ground. I know. That’s the old fud dud in me but I’ve had enough of our wildfires. Yay! I’m not the only one who drinks coffee at 2am! Were you drinking decaf or real coffee?? πŸ˜€

  9. What a handsome son you have! My oldest is turning 30 this September. So strange to think about! We returned from San Diego a few days ago, so I’m just getting back into the swing of things. We watched early fireworks on Coronado Island. Was doing laundry and ironing on July 4th!

    1. Thank you. And yes, it really is strange to think about our kids being in their 30’s because for me, I still feel like I’M in my 30’s for the most part! Hahaha. – Wow. You got out of Cali just in time before those earthquakes hit! I’d much rather be doing laundry and ironing than being swallowed up by the earth! Soooo scary!
