Seriously… I don’t know who took Idaho’s “normal” cold n’ snowy weather but I gotta’ say. Heading into the end of November with temps in the 50’s n’ 60’s is pretty cool. Even cooler? Driving around town, windows down, beautiful sunny day listening to Christmas music! The Grinch song is killer, especially when you pull up to the light and the car next to you, a whole stinkin’ family, mom, dad, and kids ALL sing along with you! That was fun.
I do love my snow but I sure could get used to this warm fall weather year-round!
If any of you remember in my last post
a million years ago I mentioned sharing some recipes and horror stories about family get-togethers. Well… I don’t have a horror story but I do have a Thanksgiving prank I pulled on my brother-in-law.
We were all in the kitchen getting dinner and snacks made up and my brother-in-law had just poured himself a cup of hot coffee, black with sugar, no cream..
THEN he went out to get some firewood and FOOLISHLY left his fresh, steamy, hot cup of coffee unattended.
Soooooo. Wonderful sister-in-law that I am I dumped half of his coffee out and replaced it with black olive juice. The look on his face when he took that first drink was PRICELESS! You’d of thought I put acid in his mug! Omgosh. Still makes me laugh and still one of my favorite holiday pranks.
I know I’ve been away but I’ve been working on things, things that I cannot share here because they are gifts but it takes time to make things and eventually I will share all of the things!
I have a dr. appt. today and then it’s back home and back to all things holidays. I seriously cannot believe our beautiful weather. I used to put my Christmas tree up on the first snow of Boise OR if we didn’t get snow it went up the day after Thanksgiving. Looks like it’s going to be a Thanksgiving tree this year.
Parents must not be buying bikes for their kids for Christmas this year. My theory is that when parents don’t buy bikes we have no snow Christmases. If parents buy lots of bikes then we’ll get a ton of snow. That’s the way it usually worked for me. Santa would bring the kids bikes and we’d get hit with a snowstorm so the bikes sat until spring. No bikes and it’s dry as a bone outside.
I hope you’re all having a wonderful start to your week. Raise your hand if you’re done with your Christmas shopping and are ready for the holidays. Not me but I vow to be every year so it’s another epic fail year for me. So, my yearly vow will roll into next year but if I don’t do it then either I’m just going to be Jewish! Jewish people go on cruises at Christmas.
MIMI’S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY –
OR BLOGGING!!!
Be well.

Love that prank. I love your sense of humor.
I’m all done with Christmas shopping. Finished the other day. Only for the greats so it’s pretty easy. I will have birthday stuff to do right after Christmas and New Years, but that can wait a bit.
We are having the same kind of weather as you except it’s in the 70s here. Loving it.
Have a fabulous day, Karen. Big hug. ♥

My brother-in-law has been around me for nearly 40 years. You’d think by now he’d know!!! 😀 – I wanted to be done early SOOOOO bad but nope. Too many distractions. – All of my birthdays were in Sept., Oct., and Nov. now I’ll get a break until Feb. 🙂 – Omgosh. Isn’t the weather amazing? 70’s sound even better. I’m a snow girl but man… These temps are just perfect! xoxox

Do your gift recipients read your blog? Mine don’t, so it’s safe for me to post things in progress.
It’s way too early for Christmas trees, yet everyone seems to be getting them set up already. I’ve already seen houses decorated. It seems like everyone’s doing it all so early this year. Sigh. I haven’t even started planning my Christmas knitting.

Yesssss. It’s difficult to “hide” things. A lot of people have trees here too but I’m waiting for snow or Thanksgiving, whichever one comes first! Wow. You must knit super fast! I have to work on my stuff year-round and even then I’m still behind the 8 ball! Please do keep sharing your things. They are beautiful. 🙂

Olive juice in your coffee mug, eeewwwww! I say watch out for his revenge 😉
Interesting theory on bikes and snow, it’s probably the same phenomenon that causes pouring rain on days you left your umbrella at home and vice versa.
What are you talking about “be done with gifts”? I haven’t even started THINKING about it!!??

Hahahahaha! Tamara, believe or not there are people totally DONE with their Christmas shopping and I know some people who are done in August. Those are not our people! Hahahaha. – I’m editing this comment because Sandee is really amazing and I love her to pieces and she’s already done. I suppose there are exceptions… 😉 Omg.. The olive juice in the coffee was the best! 😀

Lol on the olive juice. I love olives, so I wouldn’t have been that disturbed. I’m envious of your weather. Every great once in a while, we will get a really nice day around Xmas and I love to walk around our neighborhood at night and see the lights. It would be a death trap if the sidewalks had any snow at all, like they do now. But there’s always hope!
I haven’t bought a damn thing.

Hahahahahahahahaha! “I haven’t bought a damn thing!” There’s a country music Christmas song in the making!!! – I love my snow so I’m always ready for a blizzard but this weather is soooo nice. I don’t want it to leave…

No snow in Jersey, but colder than usual, and you can have it!
Ruining a cup of coffee is not a laughing matter…pretty sure there is something in the Bible about this being a sin!

I saw all that cold weather back there. Definitely, some crazy weather going on and c’mon… That prank was awesome! Hahahahaha

Oh, that prank was priceless!
We are having weather like that, but we are more used to it. The swamps don’t usually stay cold until after Christmas.
Good for you, making stuff for Christmas! Years ago i did that, but now that i work so much, i can’t add the one more thing to my plate. Everyone (just about) gets cash, they like it that way, and green is everyone’s color.
Hope your doctor visit was check-up stuff not serious stuff and that all is well.

Just a check-up. All is well. 🙂 You are so right. Green IS everyone’s color! 🙂 – I may have to play that prank again this year. Hahaha

I can’t believe there’s no snow up your way! We’ve had sunny warm days down here. I wish I could send it your way. I’m just enjoying it as long as it’s here. I thought you made cards.

You may be right about the weather/gift connection. I remember the year my step sister and I got bikinis and beach towels, we get our Christmas in summer, but that Christmas was cold and rainy, so we wore the bikinis all day anyway and shivered all through dinner until mum finally said there’d be no dessert if we didn’t put some warmer clothes on.
I don’t like your coffee prank. When I’m looking forward to a hot coffee it had better be coffee in my mug when I pick it up.

Do you drink your coffee black? Hahaha. It was funny… I didn’t know you got Christmas in the summer time! But how does Santa come to ask the kids without snow?? Also. Bikinis for Christmas. Very cool. My parents would’ve never let us sit at the table in a bikini! Your life sounds very cool. 😊

Shopping is done-ish.
Wrapping not started-ish.
Baking, cooking, and planning are all in the works.
And that coffee prank would result in bloodshed at my place.
DON’T MESS WITH MY JAVA!
Good post.

Wow! You are on top of it Santa! I have one more round of shopping and then I’m done and I really need to get started on baking! – And thank you. 🙂 It’s nice to be missed.

Lovely weather you’re having! We got an early snowstorm, but now we there’s rain. 😛 Your BIL would surely want to pay you back for that prank. Yuck! Must have been hilarious to see his reaction! 😀 Shopping done? Um, NO, except for hubby; he’s easy to buy for. Rest not started, decorating will be next weekend. Can’t bake (don’t want to learn, either), but I will be going to the German deli for the usual holiday goodies, like Stollen. Happy crafting!

I heard that snow is on the way for us but I don’t know if it will make it into the valley, might just stay in the mountains but we’ll see. It won’t stick around down here because it’s been too warm but it would be nice to get some kind of wintery vibe going on. I’m sure January and February will be frigid but that’s okay. I’d rather bundle up than fight my way thru snow. I love your attitude, “can’t bake, don’t want to learn either.” I have that same thought about making my own pie crust. My grandma owned restaurants and she made everything from scratch and people would come in just for her pies. Her crust was light and flakey… My daughter can make it like that too but not me. My pie crust is shoe leather so I buy it.

Having a restauranteur for a grandma must have been very cool! Call me “domestically challenged” LOL. My mother was an excellent scratch cook and baker as well, in the true German style. Guess I didn’t inherit that gene. 😛
