2020 MISSED CONNECTION MONDAY – It Ain’t Easy Being Cheesy

“Missed Connection Monday” is brought to you by your local Craigslist and this week by fellow blogger Joe over at ‘Cranky Old Man because he said he missed these ‘Missed Connection’ posts.
So, thank you, Joe, for the encouragement! Enjoy!

These are real “love notes” that strangers leave for other strangers in the ‘Personals’ section of Craigslist. Or as I like to call it –
“Your local serial killer hunting ground.”

You was such a beautiful dark skin short angel you had on a sexy dress and a mask. Hopefully you see this and we can talk more and go shopping I will get the items on the top shelf for you. If this is you reply with the color of dress you was wearing!
***Okay, Mr. Cheetos…
First, THIS! Second, THIS!
And NO this does not qualify as social distancing…

Was at your place this afternoon replacing something defective. U owe me a beer. Let me know what I was doing and my name. Would love to have a beer and maybe more?
***If she’s smart she’ll be replacing something else defective… YOU!
“Let me know what I was doing and my name.”
Hhhhmmmm. What you were doing…

Oh, and your name??? That’s easy.

How’s everybody doing?
What fun things did you do this weekend?
Is everybody in lockdown mode or were you able to get out n’ about?

We had a rainy weekend so I was in at the sewing machine.

I shared with you in my last post that since sheltering in place I’ve been doing a lot of online purchasing. My go-to shopping fix is Amazon but lately, Etsy and eBay have been thrown into the mix as well and it has been so fucking frustrating!

I always make it a point to check the USA box on all sites. I want all of my shops here so I’m not waiting a bazillion years for my shit. Well, as I learned, some of these shops are just out n’ out shysters! – Hey, there’s a word nobody uses anymore. – But seriously. They’re shady as hell. I waited almost a month for elastic and interfacing even tho both sellers on Etsy and eBay stated their shops were located in the U.S.
The shops are located in some other country. The warehouses they ship to are in the U.S. I know because when I was tracking all this crap it was sitting in warehouses in Seattle, WA. and Los Angeles, CA for almost a whole fucking month. I was so fed up I told the seller I wanted a refund which surprisingly was done the next day, in fact, the very day everything arrived! Ugh. After that, I now send all sellers messages. I want to know if the product is at your home or out in your garage. Can you physically touch it? If the answer is yes I place the order and I don’t care if it’s more expensive. I’ll pay extra just to get my shit in time.
Can you tell how fucking irritated I am?

Next up, Amazon. To be fair, Amazon has never let me down… Until… I purchased the biggest piece of shit vacuum I’ve ever seen! Not even kidding! Every bit of it was cheap plastic! The suction was great thru a 3″ inch slit!!! No roller on the bottom, no belts, just a plastic vacuum head with a 3″ inch slit. – Omg. Sounds like some people I know! – What’s really stupid is that I checked the reviews before I bought the piece of shit and it had thousands of 4/5 stars and really great written reviews. Totally makes me wonder what the hell people are vacuuming with this thing?? On the plus side, it came early. Also on the plus side. It’s going back.

Have you guys ever had any online buying horror stories?
I really miss just being able to go into a store and pick up what I actually need locally.

❤ As you all know I love to craft. I’ve been doing a lot of sewing but I was totally ready for a change so I started embroidery by hand and I totally suck at it but I’m not giving up.
Holy hell. The many, many, many things that are wrong with those leaves… That one that’s half done on the left? Every tip of every leaf is supposed to have a french knot.
Yeah… Well, obviously that didn’t happen but I’m not done, and no matter what I’m not giving up. I refuse to allow a little hand embroidery to kick my ass.
My goal is to have one embroidery done a month. I started last month and managed this…
I’m following some YouTube tutorials.
I’ve also got a cross-stitch project going but I won’t be sharing that until it’s complete.

Okay well, it’s been another blog post the length of ‘War and Peace’ and I’m certain I’ve bored you all to near death but I’m here and I’m blogging and I’m just really trying to get back into and stay in the blogging groove.

It’s the beginning of the week so you know I want to know what you have planned.
Lemme’ know in the comments below.
Take care of yourselves. Be safe and be well.

Plans? You mean like taking my husband’s car to the dealer today for a damn software update recall? That’s my outing for the week!

I was dying with the Mr. Cheetos pictures. Hilarious! But these creepers need to be careful because Covid masks can hide all sorts of things. I’ve had two different women waving at me from a distance like they knew me with my mask on. Of course, they had masks too, so maybe they were people I know?? Lol, this is nuts.

I’m also cracking up at you asking, “Can you physically touch it?” I’ve only had a few Amazon things took forever. One were candle wicks that took months and sure enough, they came from China. They must have used a paddle boat to get here. My worst Amazon dud was a cover for my iPad. Honest to God, it was made of cardboard! I wish I had taken a photo before I returned it. And the reviews were all 4/5 stars. Please.

Hahahahaha!!! Omg. I would have so much fun with random masked people waving at me! How funny would it be if you actually did know them and they’re all like, what a bitch, she didn’t even wave back? Hahahaha. – Yessssss! The guy I now buy my elastic from I totally asked him if he could physically touch it and he sent me a pic of him touching it! He thought it was funny too but he knew why I asked. :)- “They must’ve used a paddleboat to get here.” Hahahaha. I’ll totally be asking people that now. How the fuck is it getting here, by paddleboat??? Hahaha.

Before I opened this post up I was thinking “If you are going to take time off from blogging, at least give me the once a week ‘Missed Connection Monday’!” These are so freaking funny! Especially liked the augmenting memes.

I prefer store shopping, but with this on-line thing it is like everyday is Christmas. We get packages and Mrs. C forgets what she ordered. She gets very excited to open up something she wants but forgot she ordered.

    Stay safe and keep mis-connecting.

Hahahahaha! While I was writing it I was thinking I hope he reads my post today! 😀 – I prefer store shopping for a lot of things but I have to admit. I’m like Mrs. C. I totally forget what I ordered and I’m so happy when I get it! Sadly, I write everything down in my daybook and then never look back to see what I ordered. Hahahaha. It’s fun not to know and you’re right, it’s like every day is Christmas! 🙂

  3. There are so many losers aren’t there? Yes there are.
I try to buy at places I know are legit. I don’t have any horror stories and I’m happy about that. Thanks for the tip though. I keep that in mind.
Have a fabulous day and week, Karen. Love you. ♥

I’m happy you haven’t either because it’s a nightmare. I mean you really have to check Etsy and eBay out because a lot of their sites are misleading. – And yes. So many losers that thankfully I haven’t had to run into because I stay home. 🙂 Love you right back! ❤

  4. There’s nothing boring about your posts.

As for horror stories, i hearken back to the very first time we ever got on Ebay, with our first computer ever. Sweetie, when i was not looking, bid on something. Nothing he needed or that we could afford, mind you, and just “to see what would happen if he did.”

You know what happened, i got an education about how Ebay works. Once the guy heard my story and knew i was going to pay for the item but just truly didn’t know what i was doing, he was very nice and talked me through it.

Work, with just a couple of exceptions, is holding steady.

Hope you have a great week!

    1. Magical Mystical Mimi

Thank you, Mimi. ❤ – I'm happy that work is holding steady and most importantly that you're holding steady. – I see those options to bid on eBay and I just don't have the patience for it. I usually just hit that "buy it now" button. 🙂

Well, God bless you Dora. I hope you’re wearing your masks and asking your clients to do the same. – Shopping online is usually a positive experience just read the fine print. 🙂

  5. Embroidery? Oh Dear Lord. My mum tried to interest me in embroidery, cross stitch, crochet etc with the idea that I could by plain stuff cheaper and decorate it myself to make my home “pretty”. Clearly she didn’t know me very well. Me and ‘”pretty” do not get along. I told her I didn’t want to spend my days decorating stuff that was going to need careful washing and ironing when there was a whole world of books out there waiting to be read. She sulked for days.

    1. Magical Mystical Mimi

That’s funny. I love crafting and as evidenced by my hand embroidery not all of it’s pretty but live and learn, right? And yessssss. Books. I have a million of those. It’s hard to split my time but I think crafting wins. 🙂

  6. JerseyLil

LOL I really needed the laughs, thanks, Karen! OMG such losers especially the freaking creep expecting he’s owed a beer and “maybe more” for fixing something?!!

When I purchase online, I always check for USA too. I’ve been waiting longer than expected for some items I ordered. Thanks for the heads up on what’s happening. Sending the seller a message before ordering to make sure they actually have it there is an excellent idea.

Although I’m not a sewer, I used to do embroidery many years ago. I like what you’re doing! I didn’t get to this Monday blog post until Friday ‘cause it’s been one of those weeks. I hope your week went well! 🙂

    1. Magical Mystical Mimi

I always love hearing from you Madilyn no matter when you pop in! I’m just happy you pop in! 🙂 Embroidery is new to me but the more I do it the more I realize how much I love counted cross-stitching more. I’m not giving up tho. I like the freedom of embroidery so I will “stick” with it. – My week went well. I may need AA meetings when we’re finally released into the wild but for the moment. All is well. 🙂 I hope your week was a good one too. Anymore places opening up that you can send the hubs to? Hahahaha.
