2020 – OCTOBER HERE WE COME!

THURSDAY – OCTOBER 1
*****
What’s the scariest movie you’ve ever seen?
October, the beginning of all things pumpkin spice and all things scary.
FYI, I am not one of those people who dig the scary stuff, especially scary movies.

This is a perfect example of me watching anything even slightly scary.
I do aaalllll of these things and I may do them a hundred times in one night!
The scariest movie I’ve ever seen I first saw when I was about 7 yrs. old.
It terrified me then. It terrifies me now.
What were my parents thinking??Β  They thought it was so funny that I was so scared. I remember my mom telling me repeatedly that “it’s fake, it’s fake” – thru her laughter – and then she asked me,
“Oh, what are you afraid of???”
Seriously? I’m fucking 7!
This is what I was afraid of!
I grew up in Michigan. We had birds lined up on wires every day!

FRIDAY – OCTOBER 2
***** What’s your favorite NOT scary movie?
Well, it being the Halloween month I’ll go with a few I watch every year.
But…
My all-time favorite not scary movie is this one and I watch it a bazillion times a year. It’s just a cool movie.

SATURDAY – OCTOBER 3
***** Happy 3rd Birthday to this sweet girl, Miss Evelyn Rose.
And Happy Anniversary to these two lovahs… Tommy & Laci.

SUNDAY – OCTOBER 4
***** Happy Birthday to my beautiful baby girl.
Also, thoughts floating thru the universe for my sister who passed away 2 yrs ago today making for a bittersweet birthday for my daughter…

MONDAY – OCTOBER 5
***** In the crockpot.
Pork chops and tomato soup.
I’d never eaten this before my DIL made it and at first, I was all, eeewwww. Then. I tasted it and I was all yummmm.

Here’s a recipe that I found on Pinterest closest to how my DIL makes it.
(Minus the onion and tapioca.)
Mom’s Crockpot Tomato Soup Pork Chop Recipe

TUESDAY – OCTOBER 6
***** Something around the house.

WEDNESDAY – OCTOBER 7
And on the 7th day, Mimi rested…

I hope all of you are well.
Anything thrilling and spine chilling to report?

I’m taking a break from my personal FB and Instagram – again. So much nonsense going on and lately, I’ve had enough crap in my own day to day real life.
I’m still on Twitter but mostly just craft stuff now. I was getting politically out of hand over there and I just had to stop and shift my focus, which is what I’m doing at this very moment.

Since my sister died 2 years ago this week the whole beginning of October is an emotional rollercoaster for me now.

I love the start of fall but my sister died.
It’s my granddaughter’s birthday but my sister died.
My son’s wedding anniversary but my sister died.
Then, my poor daughter…
Happy Birthday, your aunt died this morning.
My daughter also got rear-ended in traffic that morning.
She was okay but talk about shittiest birthday ever…

It’s a tough time for me. I don’t do well with death at all.
Physical pain I can take.
Pain in my heart and soul? Not so much.

I hope you’ve all had a great week and I’ll be coming around to catch up!

MIMI’S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY –

  1. Some scary movies I can take and some are way to much. You parents thought it was funny to scare you to pieces? Bless their hearts.

Love all the happy events and sad that your sister passed. Life is filled with so many ups and downs.

Have a fabulous day, Karen. Love you bunches. β™₯

    1. My parents didn’t go out of their way to scare me but they definitely never changed the channel on anything scary or give fair warning that it was going to be scary! I always thought they were just trying to “toughen” us up or teach us that it wasn’t real. I don’t know. I think the only thing I learned was that I don’t like scary movies. Not then. Not now. – Love you too Sandee. ❀

  2. Happy birthday and anniversary to all the celebrants.

I’m not a scary movie fan either. Supposedly I saw The Exorcist when I was 3, but I have no memory of this. I love Practical Magic. Did you know there’s a new sequel to the book? (It’s book 3 in the series. I just read about it less than a month ago.)

    1. I just half watched The Exorcist the other day. I didn’t make it all the way thru. The acting is horrible. I did NOT know about any of the Practical Magic books! Now I have to look them up on Amazon and buy them! Thanks for that tip. How could I not have known this???

  3. That’s a bummer about your sister. My Dad passed away in October 2018. Been on my mind a lot. I’m not a scary movie person either. Because it would mean I couldn’t be home alone at night or go to my basement ever again. πŸ™„πŸ˜‚ Jaws is the movie that freaked me out at around age 12 or so. Ugh. I do love the Charlie Brown special!

    1. Thank you, B. It’s just such an awful way to start a month. – Basements, in general, freak me out. UNLESS they’re finished basements with lots of lights and no hidden spaces. – Jaws never bothered me because I knew the Great Lakes didn’t have any sharks! Hahaha.

  4. Again, I love the way you are doing this.
I love all things Hitchcock. Rebecca and The Mirror Cracked are my two favorites. I don’t like gory scary movies, but I love suspenseful one.

    Have a great weekend.

  5. Hi Mimi!!!! Thanks for stopping by, and I wanted to come check you out too. I just love this time of year. I too love scary movies and will most likely over indulge on them all month. But you rise a point, the least scary movies sometimes unnerve me the most. I too loved the birds, and something like that could happen, sort of. The movies where things could happen scare me the most. I have you saved to my book marks! I think your page looks to be intresting reading.

    Have a good weekend! πŸŽƒπŸŽƒπŸŽƒ

    1. Hi! Thanks for poppin’ back over! πŸ™‚ – And yessssss. The movies where things could actually happen are SO scary!!! There’s a show streaming called, Your Worst Nightmare. I watched one show and that was enough for me! – I bookmarked you too. πŸ™‚

  6. Most scary movies don’t scare me or my kids, we love them, but that creepy little “Chucky” scared the pants off me. I’m not a fan of Gremlins either.
    I LOVE Practical Magic πŸ™‚

    1. Omgosh! My kids love them too! I don’t know how I came out to be the scaredy-cat of the bunch but I turned into a speed walker thru my own house when the kids would do those horror marathons! – Yes. Practical Magic… I just love that movie. ❀

  7. The scariest movie I’ve ever seen was Psycho. The Birds is a close second, Hitchcock was the master! I was older than 7 when I saw it and it sure would have been even scarier at age 7! And about birds being lined up on wires…I was living in San Francisco during the big ’89 earthquake. That’s the biggest quake I was ever in. The next morning, tons of birds were lined up on wires everywhere, not moving, not making a sound for literally hours. So-ooo eerie! I wish I had had a camera back then. For non-scary, fun movies, I love Hocus Pocus and the original Ghostbusters.

OMG, Evelyn Rose is so adorable! Happy 3rd birthday to her! (Btw, my middle name is Rose.) πŸ™‚

Happy Anniversary to Tommy and Laci! Happy Birthday to your beautiful daughter! My heart aches for her (and you, and your family) with all that happened 2 years ago and on her birthday.

Happy Birthday in Heaven to your sweet sister! I don’t do well with death either. I can truly understand how the beginning of October is an emotional rollercoaster for you. Sending lots of love and hugs your way! ❀ ❀

The Mark Twain quote is just wonderful!

    1. Madilyn, thank you so much for your kind words. ❀ – Rose was my aunt's middle name too. I just love it. – We had an earthquake on my birthday this year and that was wild! Nothing like Cali earthquakes but holy smokes that was freaky! The earth should not move under our feet when we're sitting still… I won't forget that feeling at all. I can't imagine being in a Cali earthquake where the roads open up and buildings sway… I'm happy you got thru that okay! – I love the original Ghostbusters! In fact, I think I like just about all original movies. The remakes never seem to have the magic. πŸ™‚ – I hope you're staying safe out there! Sending lots of hugs and love right back to you!
