2020 – ARE WE THERE YET?

Seriously? The weirder this year gets the more I just want it to be 2021 already.
This world has gone absolutely nutso.
And yet… There’s a part of me that finds the whole idea of ringing in 2021 somewhat frightening.

It’s like waiting for the other shoe to drop only you don’t know if it’s really a shoe you just know that whatever it is, it’s going to fucking drop.

Fleeting thought – What’s Time Square going to look like this year?
What are all of the New Year celebrations around the globe going to look like??

THURSDAY – October 15
*****Thankful Thursday
1.) I’m thankful for my eyesight to see the beautiful colors of fall
2.) I’m thankful for snuggly hoodies for being outside walking in the wind watching the leaves fly.
3.) I’m thankful that we haven’t turned our heat on yet. It’s like a contest in our family. Who turns their heat on first.
4.) I’m thankful for pizza.
5.) I’m thankful for phone calls with my brother that always make me laugh so much AND we can discuss politics and still hang up the phone with “I love yous.”

FRIDAY – October 16
*****More birthdays…
Happy Birthday to my oldest grandson, Seth.
He’s 14 today!
And to my mom who never could seem to remember Seth’s birthday even tho, he was born on her birthday.
I’m pretty sure she did it just to piss me off. It worked.
She would’ve been 91!
Our relationship wasn’t easy but I loved her very much…
Happy Birthday, mom!

Another virus-free week in the books for myself and those I hold near and dear.
I hope the same holds true for all of you.
My allergies are kicking up a bit but I’m good with that. It’s annoying and I feel like crap most of the time but as far as I know, at least for me, they’re not deadly.

Fall is here in full swing and the temps are dropping like a rock but still, we have yet to turn on our heat. It’s a small victory and a bit of a challenge throughout our family. Who can go the longest without turning the heat on.

I don’t know who started it or why, I’m sure it started out with someone calling someone else a pussy because they didn’t like the cold, which, being Michiganders is pretty much a sin. So, here we are, a family waiting to see who can freeze first!

How about where all of you are? Beautiful fall temps or temps dropping like a rock? OR… Who’s got snow??? I-CAN’T-WAIT!

Everyone, please, be safe when you’re out n’ about. They say this virus is getting worse. You know what to do. Keep yourselves safe and those around you.

    1. This was the most giant pizza I’d ever seen! One piece was about it for me, plus, it really wasn’t that great the next day. I think that pizza was most definitely a one and done. – Love you, Sandee. <3

  2. I just put the blanket back on my bed on Wednesday. Tomorrow it’s not supposed to get out of the 60s for the first time since last winter, probably. Just last week we were in the 90s, but we’ve been on a downward trend. We don’t actually have whole house heat in the condo (I know, it’s weird, even for SoCal), but I’m not quite ready to get my space heater down.

    1. That is weird about your heat but I’ve heard of that before. I’m hoping we can hang on until sometime in November to get our heat groove going. We do so much baking during this time of year heat really isn’t an issue until about 4am.

  3. I love pizza, too. I hate snow. We had two days in a row of 75 degrees. It’s been glorious. It’s raining now though and temps are dropping like crazy. Your grandson is totally adorable! I LOVE his hair! Is that his marching band uniform? My son was in marching band and I loved every minute of it.

    1. Our temps have dipped but we’re all done with the 70’s I think but tomorrow will be in the 60’s so that’s not too bad. :) – Thank you for your kind words about Seth. He does his own hair and has since he’d been in kindergarten. And yesssss. He’s in marching band and he loves it too. :)

  4. I’ve been wondering about Times Square on New Year’s Eve too. I don’t know how they can pull it off. Just a ball drop with no people? It’s sad just to think about that.

I love your “thankfuls.” Happy 14th Birthday to Seth! What a handsome young man. Happy 91st Birthday to your mom in Heaven! When did she pass away? My mom would have been 102 this year (she passed away in 2002).

That’s a cool Etsy find. I agree with those 4 moods too! My fall allergies have been miserable this year. On the bright side, the trees here are beginning their fall colors. We’ve been having rather warm temps this past week but that all changes on Sunday when the weatherman said we’ll have a 25-degree drop in temps! No snow in the forecast. Stay safe and well! :)

    1. Well, they’ve had a few months to figure it out the whole ball drop thing… Let’s see what they come up with. – I apply that same logic to our politicians.. – Thank you for the bday wishes for Seth and my mom. She died in 2014. – Man, I’m happy to hear I’m not the only one with these allergies and they really do seem worse this year than in the past. I hope that all changes with some cold weather and/or snow cover. – Our temps were low today but in the 60’s tomorrow so still no heat. :D – Keep safe out there!

  5. Where to start? Many happy returns of the day to Seth!

If i could take life back to “normal,” the first normal i would restore is the ability of people from different political backgrounds to work together, it used to be called bi-partisanship. Everyone knew s/he didn’t have all of the answers, so people worked together to find answers.

    1. Thank you, Mimi… And I am so with you on the whole politics thing. I think if we have a Republican President there should be a Dem for Vice President and vice versa. Two parties in the WH, they’d have to get along to get anything done!

    1. Thank you, Dora. Seth had a great birthday. :) My youngest grandchild is 3. You need more grandbabies! Pass it on! :D Spending all day in your pjs is the best. You’re just snuggly all day. :D – Aside from allergies. All is well.

  6. I think most of us will be glad when this year is over. You have a point about 2021, though. Who knows WHAT will happen in future? The virus is getting worse everywhere. We need a vaccine to curb the spread!

Your grandson looks adorable! Happy Belated Birthday to him. I’m sure you were thinking of your Mom on her birthday, too. So sorry for your loss.

It was over 75 degrees here on Friday, then the torrential downpours came, and it’s around 48 today. Ugh! And snow is a 4-letter word I don’t much care for. Thankfully, that’s only an issue for those further north at the moment. We’re still in the “Banana Belt”, for now. ;)

I’d love to spend all day in PJs and used to do that sometimes, BZ (before Zoey). Now, I have to get out whether I want to or not, but the joys totally outweigh the inconveniences. 💗

    1. It’s just such a weird time… And I don’t know about that vaccine. I think I’d have to see how it works first. – Thank you for the bday wishes for Seth, I’ll pass them on. I always do. :) – Our high temps are in the 60’s which isn’t too bad. It gets cold at night but still no snow for us. – My pj days all day might be over one day soon. I’ve started looking at pups at the humane society websites. I’ve got my eye on one lit’l guy but we’ll see. I really don’t know that I’m up to it at the moment. I still love and miss my sweet Luci so much. When the time is right I’m sure she’ll give me a little nudge. :)
