Happy 2nd day of the New Year!
Aside from the current worldly events, how’s the New Year going for you personally?

I had such grand plans going into the new year.
I made a list of all of the things I was going to get done and it was full speed ahead… Until it wasn’t.
I was trying to organize find room everything that Santa was kind enough to bring and that involved a lot of heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling, and can I just say this? If you’re over 50 and there are younger and stronger bodies around, let them do this shit. Their bodies still have a lot of oomph left in ’em. Mine does not.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, back pain and I go way “back” – get it? –
So I’m going with the at-home remedies. Hot/cold packs, Ibuprofen, using my massager – no, not that one – stretching, and taking hot baths with Epsom salts. However, I am currently in search of a chiropractor with a magic wand because this sign says it all!

Soooo. Since my back stopped me from continuing with my house organization I decided to do all of my at-home remedies and take a nap. I woke up feeling a little bit better but not much.

My oldest granddaughter called for some Facetime and that definitely made my heart feel good even tho she’s always freaking me out – and making me laugh – with her Nutcracker ornaments.
I am so not a fan of anything Nutcracker. The nutcrackers themselves are creepy and I’m pretty sure that nutcracker music is the music they play on a continuous loop in hell but lit’l Miss K loves it. She loves it so much she falls asleep listening to it! I told her the Nutcracker music makes blood shoot out of my ears so what does she do? She turns it on and turns it up!
Yep. She’s mine…
SIDE NOTE: She is in ballet and they will be doing the Nutcracker. That’s the ONLY time I’ll see it and love it.

Still wanting to actually accomplish something today that didn’t involve heavy lifting I started organizing my online stuff and managed to delete 500 emails. Only about 8,000 more to go…

Yeah Willie… About 8,000 of them, give or take a few hundred…

And this was my day in a nutshell.
I hope your New Year has started out pain-free and that you’ve had a million reasons to smile today.

Chat with me in the comments.
Be safe. Be well. Be happy. Be kind and I will meet you all back here tomorrow!

    • I’m beyond pretty bad. I am outta’ control! That is a great unplan of action, Dora. 🙂 Just carry on and hope to improve. Perfect.

  1. I hope your back gets better soon. I truly understand how age can slow us down a nd changing our plans. Your granddaughter sounds like you so much! ❤ Sometimes relaxing is the best medicine.

    • I hope so too Jolene! This sucks big time! I think if I had had a “normal” life I’d be in much better shape right now but somehow normal escaped me. Lol. My granddaughter definitely has my sarcasm and bluntness. Aside from that, at 7 she’s already way more intelligent. 🙂

  2. I tweeked my back bowling. My wife had some “Hempvana” for her ackey knee. Tried it and zing, back is good. Also use it on my arthritic hip and big toe…works. It is not oily, does not smell, is not hot or cold but it works. May just be a placebo effect, but so far I’ll take that.

  3. Karen, I’m so sorry about your back pain, ouch! Not the best way to begin a new year. I’m glad you’re feeling a little better and I hope you’ll be feeling much better soon! Too funny about your granddaughter, the nutcracker ornaments and the music!

The 2nd day of the new year has brought upsetting family news for me. My sister Rose in New Jersey called at 7 pm to tell me that our other sister Theresa (also in NJ) was taken to the ER because she was ill and coughing up blood. She was given a transfusion and tests to see if she has a bleeding ulcer. As a routine precaution, she was also given a Covid test and we’re awaiting the results. A stressful way to begin a new year, and I feel so bad for Theresa being ill (not to mention that this is a terrible time to be in a hospital anyway with such high Covid cases). Hopefully, her Covid test will be negative and she’ll be given medication to treat whatever the problem is and be out of the hospital very soon. Still, it’s all very worrisome.

    • Omgoodness Madilyn! I am so very sorry about your sister! I will keep her in my prayers – all of you – and pray, pray, pray it’s an ulcer and nothing more serious and definitely NOT Covid. That is very worrisome. Sending big hugs to you.

      • Thank you so much, Karen! I called my sister twice today in her hospital room. Her Covid test was negative, that is a relief! Her doctor said the coughing up of blood was caused by gastritis. She had lost so much blood that she was given a blood transfusion and put on an IV. She felt better but she is not allowed yet to eat solid food, only broth and juice, because the doctor wants to do more tests. Hopefully, it won’t end up being anything too serious. I truly appreciate the prayers! ❤

      • Omgosh. That is great news about her Covid tests but I am still so sorry about everything she is going thru! I am still praying. Please do keep me updated. ❤

  4. Back pain is awful. I hope you start to feel better. I started putting away the Xmas crap yesterday. It’s always 5 people decorating on Black Friday and 1 person putting it all away! Lol! I only have the 2 big trees left and my one daughter will help me.

Nutcrackers don’t bother me, but neither do clowns. But show me a picture of a centipede and I’m dead.

    • Omgosh. You’re so right about decorating and putting it all away. One day all I’ll decorate is a house plant! Ha! – Back pain is horrible because it affects sooo much more than your back. – I am a Nutcracker, clown, rabbits phobe all the way.

  5. If i‘m right, what Mr. JoeH was talking about is this product, i looked it up as i’d like to give it a try. When i was a child i fell out of a tree, and the place i injured on my back is giving me more and more trouble as the years go by, and i also get the low back pain at times.

You will be in my prayers for speedy healing and a great 2021.

    • Thank you Mimi. I was a victim of a crime when I was 20 yrs. old – attempted rape by two scum bags and made to jump out a 3rd story window. – My back and neck have been a mess ever since. On the plus side, I got away before they had a chance to do follow thru with their plan. – Thank you for your prayers. Believe me when I say they are MUCH appreciated.

  6. Sorry about your back. We don do the heavy lifting stuff here anymore and we’re way older than you are. I hope you feel better soon.

I do my email each morning. If I don’t I’ll look like yours does. I also don’t blog on the weekends, but I’ve not seen you in some time so thought I would at least read yours.

Have a fabulous day and a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. Love you. ♥

    • I knew you didn’t blog on the weekends so I was happily surprised and appreciative. Thank you for taking your time. I always love your comments. ❤ I really need to get in the habit of checking my email every morning. I used to do it like clockwork and then one day I didn't and well… 8,000 emails later… 🙂 – Happy New Year to you Sandee. I hope the heavens open up and rain the most amazing blessing down upon you and your lovah boy. 🙂 Love YOU! ❤

  7. I don’t plan for anything for New Year’s Day. I tend to sleep in and then feel guilty about that. I’ve got some rearranging to do as well, but I’m kind of waiting for Mercury to go retrograde for those projects. (The 30th of this month, if you’re keeping track.) That’s my story, anyway. . .

  8. I hope your back feels better soon! I don’t know if it’s available in the U.S., but Robaxecet is an excellent pain reliever. It does make you sleepy, though. A full email inbox drives me nuts, so I clear it out every day. The same can’t be said for my house. LOL Good for you, getting organized. One has to be the mood, though. Right now, I’m trying to summon enough energy to take down the Christmas decorations. Have a good week!

    • I don’t know if Robaxecet is available here or not but if it has a narcotic in it my dr. doesn’t prescribe them. I would have to see a pain specialist. I’ll look into it tho, thank you. For the moment tho I’m trying the Hempvana cream. 🙂 – I can keep up on my emails for about a week after that it’s a no-go. I have to be in the mood to sort thru all it! Hahahaha. – Christmas is down and done here. If it had looked or felt the least bit Christmassy it would’ve stayed up longer but no snow, no hustle, and bustle, no Christmas events. It just didn’t feel like Christmas. Good luck taking yours down! If you have snow tho that’s a good excuse to leave it up for a bit. 🙂 I had an aunt who left her tree up year-round and decorated it for the different holidays.
