NOVEMBER THREE/FOUR – Simple Sunday/Manic Monday

This post is brought to you courtesy of
The Simple Woman’s Daybook‘.
WELCOME TO MY SIMPLE SUNDAY –

Looking out my window – I see frosty rooftops.
I am thinking – Of all of the projects I need to finish up this month!
I am thankful – That Christmas music is now playing on the radio!
One of my favorite things –
Making things!
I am creating – Afghans.
I am wearing – A cozy flannel nightgown.
I am reading – The Bible. Not much time for reading.
I am watching – Motives & Murders on Prime
I am listening to –
The Christmas Song by Nat King Cole
I am hoping – To get everything finished in time for the holidays!
I am learning – That patience is not something I have in abundance.
In my kitchen – The Instant Pot is workin’ hard for me. It’s soup season!
***I made some squash soup yesterday and it’s delicious. I’ve been asked for the recipe and honestly, it’s really just whatever you want your soup to taste like and however thick you want it. I’m a “dump” cook so I just do what looks and tastes right to me.

– Cook your squash. – Add whatever seasons and meat you want.

Tada! That’s my dump recipe.
You can find a more “real” recipes on Pinterest or make up your own!

Under my needle –
This was the last project under my cross stitch needle and now he’s put away until next year.
On my hook – This actually is just off my hook.
A moment from my day –
Finally being able to take down these creepy towels that my DIL made.

UPDATE – This is a twofer post because somewhere along my day yesterday I got distracted… Shocking, I know.

Anyway, Happy Monday everybody!
I hope you all had an enjoyable weekend. You see what my weekend consisted of. All things mish-mash holidays! I suspect it will be much the same for the rest of the year but I’m not complaining. I quite enjoy the process.

Okay. Now that Halloween has passed is anybody looking forward to Christmas???
I know we have Thanksgiving first but still…

Seriously tho, Thanksgiving is coming up!
In the next few days let’s start sharing recipes and horror stories of family gatherings!

Wow. It’s after 11pm. I need to get this posted and head to bed.
I’m heading up to the mountain tomorrow but I’ll be back in the valley with plenty of time to catch up on posts!

Sweet dreams my friends!

SIDE NOTE:
Thanksgiving will be a “free” day.
Fall is in full swing here, including rain I can’t fucking believe it and I am loving it! The colors are popping and I am embracing all that is autumn in Idaho.

What about where you live?
What are the changes you’re seeing?

Our temps are steadily dropping out this way and I do so love my sweater weather.
Are you welcoming the cooler weather and possibly snow or are you running for the sun or a cozy spot next to a nice, warm fire???

Ready or not for us, snow is most definitely on the horizon and I am curious to see if we’ll have Flaky Freddie or Blizzard Bettie.
I’m hoping for Bettie. Sssh. Don’t tell anyone.

Happy November, folks!
Get those fat pants ready!
And, if you’re like me, crank up those Christmas tunes!
MIMI’S MAGICK FOR THE DAY –
A very interesting card for me to start my day with.
The 8 of cups represents leaving behind those people, places, things, (the past) that no longer serve you. This card tells you it’s time to move on either emotionally, spiritually, physically, or all 3.

You can see from my “NO-vember” list that I had already made the choices to move on from that which was no longer serving me.
Personally, I will take this card as a confirmation that I am setting my soul aright with the Universe.
So mote it be.

Are any of you feeling the pull to leave anything behind and move forward?
I would love to read your thoughts on this.(Mystic Dreamer Tarot by Heidi Darras/Barbara Moore)

THE HOLIDAY MIX MASH IS OVER!

snowflake-gray-lineRaise your hand if you saw this mix mash of holidays when you went into a store near you.
Now raise your hand if you’re sick of seeing this mix mash.
Yeah. Me too.
Seriously retailers, slow your roll!
This jam packing all of the holidays into one giant sales ad shopping spree is ridiculous. Is it really too much to ask to let us get thru one holiday before you’re dropping the next one on our heads??
And just a question to all of the powers that be in retail and marketing.
Do any of you have kids??
This is hell on parents!
“Mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom…”

#HolyFuck    #ItsOver    #NoMoreHolidayMixMash
snowflake-gray-lineSide note – Notice there’s not a whole lot of marketing for Thanksgiving??
Obviously, Thanksgiving is not a money maker to the powers that be.
Obviously, these same powers that be have never gotten the receipt for my Thanksgiving meal!
snowflake-gray-lineWhat say ye’? Do the stores pull out everything too soon?
Lemme know in the comments below!
snowflake-gray-lineIN OTHER NEWS –
I can’t believe it’s been a month since I’ve blogged. Geesh. Seems like one day runs into the next and then the next over the holidays.  I hope all of you had a happy Thanksgiving with lots of great people gathered ’round eating lots of great foods, making wonderful memories.

It was just the 3 of us – my son, his girl and me – for our feast and we made enough food to feed a small country, most of which ended up in the freezer!
But it was delicious and will be delicious again in stews and soups and casseroles and peanut butter n’ jelly n’ turkey sandwiches..
Yeah.. I pretty much never want to see food again in my entire life.
Sort of.
snowflake-gray-lineI’ve been busy with all things holidays. I did not, however, go out on ‘Black Friday’ which was really ‘Black Thursday’ for some places. Nor did I glue my ass to the computer for ‘Cyber Monday.’
Did any of you? Where were the deals?
I didn’t even look. I’ve been checking off my “list” for a while.
Now it’s just all about getting things mailed out on time.
snowflake-gray-lineI will try to be much more present in the blogging world this month.
Unfortunately, when I step away from my blog, I step away from the whole blogging realm – you…
And honestly,  it’s not that I’m not thinking of you, I am and I’m trying to get everything done so I can catch my breath on this end and catch up with all of you. In fact, I’m heading to as many of you as I can right now!
Happy December everybody! Here’s to a month of good will toward all men…
