#28 – SATURDAY 9 – Angel

Joining in with Sam over at ‘Saturday 9.’
9 questions.
9 answers.
This week’s theme comes from the song “Angel” by Sarah McLachlan.
If you haven’t heard the song, here’s the video.

On to the questions!
1) Sarah McLachlan wrote this song about someone she barely knew. She read the obit of Jonathan Melvoin, keyboard player for the Smashing Pumpkins, who died of a heroin overdose.
What’s the most recent news story that touched you deeply?
***Our current weather forecast. It made me cry!
2) Ms. McLachlan performed this in tribute to Linda McCartney at the 1999 Concert for Linda. She was expressing her hope that, in death, Linda found relief and peace after a long and painful battle with cancer.
What do you think happens to us when we die?
3) Daytime dramas General Hospital and As the World Turns used this song on-air after a major character died.
Do you follow any “soap operas?”
4) In 2007, Sarah donated her recording of this song to the ASPCA.
Do you have a pet? If yes, how did you get it (shelter, pet store, etc.)?
***Lit’l Miss Luci. We got her because the “breeder” didn’t want her because she wasn’t a purebred Shitzu. Apparently, the neighbor dog, a Lhasa Apso came by for a visit..
It’s the losers in life that make us the winners.
5) She admits she can’t watch those ASPCA commercials, where her recording of “Angel” plays over sad photos of animals.
Is there a TV commercial that really gets to you (in either a good or a bad way)?
***Um, yeah… This one.
6) In 1994, Sarah was stalked by an obsessed fan.
Tell us about a time you were really frightened. In retrospect, was your fear commensurate with the threat?
***The first time I ever saw these people on my t.v. I was really frightened and my fear was that I would lose my sight!
Pass the eye bleach, please..
7) Sarah was adopted by Jack and Dorice McLachlan. Though she has a friendly relationship with her birth mother, she always considered Dorice her mother and sees herself behaving with her son the way Dorice did with her.
Is there anyone in your family that you feel you resemble, either physically or by behavior?
***Yes, by behavior.
8) McLachlan is one of the founders of Lilith Fair, a summer concert series designed to showcase talented female performers.
Do/did your summer plans include an outdoor concert?
***Close enough.

9) Random question:
Which of these men would you most like to be seated with at dinner — Clint Eastwood, Prince William or Jimmy Fallon?
***Seriously?? What girl doesn’t want to have dinner with a real life Prince Charming???
And just as my own personal bonus to the ‘Saturday 9’ random question.
Look at this beautiful mother and son.
It’s infuriating and beyond unfair that people like O.J. Simpson and Charles Manson are alive and breathing the free air and Princess Diana is gone.
Makes no sense to me at all.
That’s the ‘Saturday 9‘ folks. If you’d like to join in just click on the link and have some fun!
Happy Saturday!

#27 – YOU KNOW NOTHING, JON SNOW!

I say it all the time… I’m an Italian woman 365 days out of the year unless there’s a sale and then I’m a Jew.
It’s true. I love a great sale. I feel such a sense of accomplishment when I find a fabulous buy on a fabulous product.
It happened three times to me this past week. I was giddy.
I went to Shopko – it’s like a Target – for laundry soap.
ONE item.
A HUNDRED AND ONE items later…
The fabulous find.
Sandals and a wallet just for me.
I know. Whippty dip but hey, cute stuff and ON SALE!
First, the super cute sandals. Normally $26. On sale for $5!
Love ’em.
Then the wallet, leather and roomy. $36 on sale for $9.99.
Love it too.
Headed over to Tuesday Mornings and got a couple of cool things on sale there.
The Olaf Snow Cone Maker for the grandkids, normally $20-$25. On sale for $9.99.
5,000 cranks and one ice cube at a time, they may get a snow cone by lunch if they start at breakfast. But hey, it’s cute, right?
Aside from errands with the fabulous finds, I’ve been trying to stay home in the AC as the triple digits continue on out here. I love my warm, sunny days but holy cannoli. Warm NOT flesh melting hot!

I’ve been obsessed with crocheting lately and I’ve begun to hoard yarn like I hoard fabric. Not even kidding.
You can never have enough yarn!
On the hook tonight? – Waffle weave dishcloths/washcloths.
These work up so fast and I love that they really do look like waffles. They make great gifts and people have already started ordering..
#AndSoItBegins
I’m also obsessed with Game Of Thrones thus the Jon Snow references above. Overall it’s a great show but Jon Snow is hot and that’s just a bonus while watching.
Anybody else watching?? I’m on pins and needles with this season. Sadly, the last and final.
What’s happening on your Monday evening? Anything thrilling and spine chilling to report?? You know I’m a nosey bitch and I gotta’ know, so spill!
I hope Monday wasn’t too Monday for you and that the rest of your week is fabulous!

#25 – People… People who need…

People who need to get a life!
And by people. I mean me.
A perfect example of me needing to get a life?
So many to choose from..

Sometimes… If I’m watching a show or I see something in my Facebook newsfeed about some celebrity, boom, there I am on People.com getting the skinny on “Where are they now?” Or just verifying that one of those idiot famous for being famous chicks really did get that ass implant.
I know, right? Complete and total waste of time.
I told you. I so need to get a life…

So, I’m on People.com and of aaaallllll the headlines they’ve got going on…
Jada Pinkett Smith the drug dealer, Chester Bennington (Linkin Park) hangs himself, O.J. gets paroled… Which one do I click on???

Hhhhmm how ’bout something exciting like…
Ina Garten Shares Her ‘Secret’ To Perfect Guacamole That Won’t Turn Brown.’
Not even lyin’.
Seriously. I need a life.
Oh, and spoiler alert. Her secret is lots of lemon juice. Not a huge secret to anyone on the planet who’s ever made guacamole. Ugh.
I can’t believe I wasted 5 minutes of my life reading about it and yet, there’s the link up there if you too would like to waste 5 minutes of your life.
When I’m not looking up useless information and turning my brain into a sprawling waste land confined within my skull… I like to crochet.
I made these for my granddaughter due in Oct. – SO EXCITED for her arrival!
They were all a lot of fun to make and they should be plenty warm for those northern Michigan winters.
I’m really diggin’ making hats and you’ll be seeing A LOT of these in my posts for kids and adults.

I also made my grandson a couple of t-shirts. One to wear to the baby shower and one just to open when all of the baby stuff is being oohed and aahed over.
The red shirt is a quote from the show Game of Thrones.
I know I’ve been gone but I’ve still been trying to get all of you read. I hope you’re having a fantastic weekend. I’m planning on doing a whole lotta’ nothing. Fingers, eyes, and toes all crossed that those plans come to fruition.

#24 – WHO KNEW?

I’m not a big cereal eater so I leave the cereal buying up to the kids. Every now and again I might go rummaging thru the kitchen looking for something sweet and I’ll check the cereal cupboard. My favorite cereal is Cocoa Pebbles. They rarely buy those.
That’s probably a good thing.

Cinnamon Toast Crunch or Apple Jacks were my choices today. I snagged the Apple Jacks and lo’ and behold. A prize in the box and I got it!
Nevermind that the kids didn’t want it and nevermind the fact that I don’t even know what it is. The fact is, I got the prize in the cereal box and I was just as excited as I was when I was 5 yrs. old! I know. I probably need to get a life but whatever. I didn’t even know they started putting prizes back in the boxes of cereal. Now I’ll be combing the grocery shelves in search of the best toy. I hope it’s in the Cocoa Pebbles!
Quiet night last night and tonight as far as the fireworks go and for that I am thankful! We have a happy pup and no fires. A wonderful start to July!
Mimi’s quote for the day –

#23 – KLEPTO ON THE GO!

Happy July! Let the heatwaves begin!
In my last post, I mentioned having new neighbors upstairs, next door and a few doors down.
Well, suddenly we have an issue. An issue we didn’t have with our old neighbors..
THE NEXT DOOR NEIGHBORS
First up. I keep my blinds open all day because I choose not to live like a vampire. The day the new neighbors moved in was no different. I’m sitting there crocheting and watching my British shows and out of the corner of my eye, I see this empty cardboard box go flying thru the air from the new neighbor’s direction.

In my mind I’m thinking, I know they’re not just gonna’ let that shit go flyin’ around and not pick it up.  – They didn’t.
A kid I’d never seen before went running after it and started kicking it around.
Cool. Whatever. Moving is boring for kids. I get it.

Then I look up and this same kid is walking back and forth in my part of the backyard looking in my windows! What the hell?? Can I just tell you? It’s a little more than annoying to have some weirdo kid staring at you all day. I so wish I had been naked. That lit’l peeping Tom would’ve needed eye bleach for a year!

Fortunately, when I got up to go outside he scattered and I haven’t seen – key word being seen – him since. Clearly, he’s doing his thievery at night or when we’re not home. And honestly, it’s not so much that he’s taking shit off of my patio as much as it is that he’s coming onto my patio.
Where I come from that’s a good way to get shot.

I would mention this to his parents but they don’t speak English. They’re refugees from I don’t know where but they’re very colorfully wrapped from head to toe.
Did I mention that they don’t speak English?

To date, their klepto kid has a total of 4 lighters and one ink pen left there on purpose to see if he’d take that too. He did.
Can’t wait to see what he does with them and when.
On the plus side, they don’t have a dog.
That would be the other neighbors that moved in..
In other news – I’d just like to be like everyone else and whine about the heat.
It’s flippin’ hot!
Again, this weekend. Let’s be kind to our animals and veterans alike.

I hope all of you have a safe and happy 4th of July weekend.
Happy July and stay cool my friends!
