Here’s a tip:
If you see an older couple having trouble with a trailer filled with firewood and the woman has a cast on her arm and you offer them help, keep in mind they may not share your same sense of humor. 

For instance when the man asks you if you’re sure you can lift some firewood and you answer…

“Well, of course, I can. I’m a Detroit girl. I’m used to lifting heavy things. Usually dead bodies but ya’ know firewood, dead bodies, same thing.”

ZERO sense of humor with this couple and a great big, 
NO THANK YOU on the offer of help.
Seriously.

In the news:
I truly believe that there are more good people in this world than bad. Unfortunately, it usually takes something catastrophic such as Hurricane Harvey to bring that collective goodness to light. I hope that none of you or your loved ones were/are in harm’s way. Sadly, it’s long from being over… And I will continue to pray for all of those affected by this wicked storm.

I thought I better make an appearance since it’s been nearly a week since I’ve written. It’s been super hectic around here. Lots of running around and scheduling. We have several people flying in for the wedding in October. 

Here’s some fun news. They’re all flying in on the same day. 
More fun stuff? They’re not coming in at the same time. 
We’ve got some arriving early in the morning and some arriving late in the evening but ya’ know what? 
I’m just happy they are all able to make it and we will make it work!

Oh, and PS, they’re all leaving on the same day too.
Now would be a great time to own about 7 vehicles.

I don’t know everyone’s arrangements as far as hotels and/or BNB’s but I do know we’ve got 6 young men staying here. Once upon a time, I may have counted myself one lucky girl to have 6 handsome young men hanging around the house but alas, tick, tock, time marches on. Now I’m feeling more like a frat house mom. My only concern at this point is keeping them all fed!

Yesterday was a pretty amazing day for those of us who were able to witness the total solar eclipse. I had no idea the temperature would drop so noticeably but for a minute it really was chilly. 

I didn’t take any photos but thankfully other people did and they shared! There are so many phenomenal photos on the social media sites.

How cool was it that across the country we all found a moment to pause and look to the sky in wonderment. I think we need more moments like that.

In between the business of the days I’ve been crocheting. Some of it for gifts, some for charity, others for sale, and more just to keep my sanity. It’s relaxing and gives me time to watch my British crime shows. 

I’m all caught up on ‘Midsomer Murders’ and I think I may have a problem. Seriously. There are 19 seasons and 116 episodes available on Netflix from 1997 – 2018 and I’ve watched them all!

While I wait for season 20 of ‘Midsomer Murders’ to make it’s way to Netflix I’ve been flipping back n’ forth between ‘Hinterland’ and ‘Happy Valley.’ I had no idea there were so many different English dialects. I thought all British people sounded like ‘Doc Martin,’ another fave of my British viewing but ‘Hinterland’ and ‘Happy Land’ are difficult to understand in some places and I feel like I should have subtitles on! 

Still, I love them all but I am curious how the British detectives are able to catch so many criminals with nothing more than a “billy club.” And I’m equally as curious about the criminals who have no available weapons other than the occasional knife. Surely this is not the norm for everyday crime in England. A “billy club” and a knife wouldn’t have much of an impact over here.

I haven’t been hanging out in blogging land so I haven’t been around to visit everyone but I will. I know I have much to catch up on. I think I just need to move a comfy chair to the desk, grab a pot of coffee and make a day of visiting and comments!

Now that all of the hoopla over the eclipse is settling down. What’s on tap for everyone’s week ahead?? We are finally cooling off over here and that makes for nice early mornings and late evenings. 

I hope you can all take a moment throughout your week and just pause and look up. 

A funny thing happened over the weekend. Our temps dropped down into the 70’s! Now, the temps have leveled out to what should be their normal this time of year which is 80’s and low 90’s and I am so, so thankful! Our summer was brutal with triple digits.

Another funny thing? While I was out n’ about this weekend I passed so many people walking their dogs who looked like their dogs! Or their dogs looked like them. Seriously. It was the whole hair/fur thing. 

If the guy was fuzzy his pup was fuzzy. If the woman had short n’ sassy hair, her pup had short n’ sassy fur. It was crazy and got me to thinking. I wondered how many people actually have pets that look like them and vice versa. 
Well, apparently A LOT of people do!

I couldn’t take pics of the people I was seeing because that would’ve been weird but fortunately, there are other people who don’t find this weird at all.

It’s been all over the internet and rumor has it that Queen Elizabeth has passed over that undeserving son of hers, Charles and will crown Prince William the next King of England. If this is true I am ready for an all out happy dance but so far the only “news sources” reporting this are “rag mags” without much credibility.

I have to say, I woke up to an absolutely beautiful day today. The temps are perfect, the sun is shining, the pup slept in and all is right with the world.

I passed my every 3 months doc check up with flying colors! I’ve lost weight, my blood pressure is great. No lumps or bumps or swollen anything that would send me to the oncologist.
I’m over the moon!

Not to be paranoid or anything but once you’ve had cancer, normal check ups with the doc just aren’t the same anymore.

And speaking of paranoid… Our wifi went out so we had to call the cable company which is always a pain to deal with. 
First, you have to explain to them in precise detail what the issue is. You can’t just tell them the wifi went out. 
Then they have you go thru their 100 DIY steps to fix it, which of course, you’ve already tried otherwise you wouldn’t be calling them in the first place, right?
THEN, they send you a cable guy. 

It’s always a roll of the dice with these guys. Most times we get a 12-year old that much like Jon Snow knows nothing. However, the roll of the dice was with us on this day. We didn’t get a 12-year old nor did we get a serial killer. Yay! 
AND we found out that since we’ve never been late with our bill in the almost 3 yrs. we’ve been with them we have a $200 credit! Score!
Note: If you’ve been with a company for a very long time, check your discounts. You may have some like we did!

***Why is it that dogs must sniff every square inch of grass before deciding to do their deed?

***One of my least favorite things to do?
Empty expired milk down the drain. No matter what it still has a stench that rises up from the sink and makes me gag!

***I’m one of those people who must finish one series on Netflix before moving on to another. Currently, I’m watching Midsomer Murders despite the fact that the original “Inspector Barnaby” has left the show. I miss John Nettles. The show was so much better with him in it.
And, he’s hot.

***The song ‘Issues’ by Julia Michaels is just dumb.

***Why don’t black-out curtains work? 
Light still gets thru.
They don’t keep your room warmer in the winter.
Nor do they keep your room cooler in the summer. 

I’m just not a fan of products that don’t work like they’re advertised. Sorta’ like going thru a drive-thru. Your food never looks like the pics on the order board.

***Dear parents of the kids who have been running around screaming at the top of their lungs ALL day. –
Don’t set your kids loose to scream like they’re being drawn and quartered and then think you’re going to go take a little nap while the rest of us must endure the hideousness that is your spawn.
Not happening.

On the plus side of life, the temps are cooling down and I’ve got the majority of moving/rearranging/sorting/cleaning done.
I didn’t pick up my crochet hook once!
This mama is beat. Netflix and bed here I come.
