MARCH – LION, OR LAMB?

Does anyone remember learning in school about the arrival of March?
We learned if March came in like a lamb it would go out like a lion, but if it came in like a lion it would go out like a lamb. According to our weatherman our March is coming in like a lamb with lots of sunshine and spring-like temps and I’m all about that!

Once again, I’ve been away. Once again, no motivation. I’m still feeling like I’ve got nutthin’.

But hey!!
I’m hoping to get some traveling in this year. I am missing my kiddo and grand-kiddos back east SOOOO much. Thank goodness for Facetime/Skype/Duo. All great apps to keep me seeing those beautiful faces and hearing those precious voices and tho it’s better than nothing it’s not enough! Now they need to invent an app that will allow me to reach thru the screen and get some hugs and kisses and go to band concerts, sporting events, and dance!!

I trust you’re all getting along well out in your corners of the world. 
Our first week of March is supposed to be filled with lots of sunshine and warmer temps. I’ll take it! Of course, there’s probably a couple of snowstorms coming in behind it but I don’t care. I just need a few days to feel the sunshine on my face and to hit those trails again! I’d love to see some flowers peeking out, but that’s probably too much to hope for.
Did you know that the flower for the month of March is the daffodil?

The flower of rebirth and new beginnings.
Do any of you have daffodils popping up? They’re usually the first flower I see around here, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen them this early.

JUST A REMINDER – “A gift of daffodils is said to suggest good luck, however, if it is just a single bloom gifted this instead is supposed to foretell misfortune so take care when giving daffodils as gifts!”

One of those gifts where you have to choose to use your powers for good or evil.

I wish I had more exciting stuff to write about, but it’s just not happening in my corner of the world. We’ve had some crazy weather like most parts of the country and I am so looking forward to the warmer temps.

I have found some new shows to watch and if you have time you might want to schedule these in.

NETFLIX – 
Waiting on season 2 of this show and not very patiently. Of course, there are the books to read, but I don’t want to spoil alert my own self! I can hardly wait, but I will wait.

CBS – 
I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this one because I didn’t think anyone could play Clarice other than Jodie Foster. I was wrong. This girl is a good choice. She’s definitely got that slight southern tone mastered. 

It’s a good show and I hope CBS doesn’t cancel it but if they do, there’s always Netflix, right? It can always be brought back to life there.

HGTV –
I just love this little couple Ben and Erin Napier. They’re from Laurel, Miss. and they’re beautifying their little town one abandoned house at a time.

This is a fun show to watch. Nothing stressful, nothing scary, no edge-of-the-seat stuff just a fun show. If you’re not watching, I highly recommend that you do.

I’ve been early spring cleaning all things crafting/sewing/yarn and now I need to use them all up! I promised myself that I wouldn’t purchase any more craft stuff until I’ve made a dent in what I already have and I’m happy to say I’ve kept that promise!

I know it’s been a minute but I would love to hear what everyone has been up to and if you’d care to share that would be great.

<3 How’s everybody doing? I hope you’re all healthy and I hope none of you got caught in the protesting and riots.
It’s a crazy time to be sure. I’m happy to say that Boise had a peaceful protest of about 300 people.
Granted, we don’t have a large black community but racism is, unfortunately, in every community.

<3 We’re at Phase 3 of 4 for reopening Idaho. The pools, water parks, bars, and movie theaters have been added to the list and I think that about wraps up all of the businesses.
Phase 4 is just increasing how many people can go here, there and everywhere while still following the CDC guidelines.
So, basically, it’s your life. Do what’s right for you.

For me, due to my compromised immune system, I will continue to avoid crowds, I’ll continue social distancing, and I’ll be wearing my mask when I go in most places.
However, if it doesn’t rain and temps aren’t in the 90’s or triple digits I’ll be putting my new trek poles to work on the trails and NOT wearing a mask but I’ll have one just in case a ginormous marathon of trailblazers come storming up behind me!
Aren’t they pretty? They really help with steeper inclines and they do help you get a bit further on down the trails.
I can almost hear Roy and Dale now…
It’s okay, you can groan.

<3 Needless-to-say, I’ve been getting a lot of crafting in.
Cross stitching, crocheting, and making sparkly bows for my granddaughters.
Anything to keep my mind off of the chaos.
I listen to a lot of jazz music while I craft. I listen to the BGM Channel on Spotify but it’s on iTunes and YouTube (free) as well.
About the only time, I’m not listening to music is when I’m reading. Some people can listen and read at the same time and I have no idea how they do it.
My kids used to listen to super loud music while they did their homework and since none of them failed I’m guessing the music didn’t interfere.

Speaking of reading, this is the book I’m starting tomorrow.
I try to start a new book at the beginning of every month. I have no idea what this book is about but it looks creepy.
I guess I’ll see.

I get it. Grocery shopping is one of those necessary evils in life.
I don’t have to like it and surprise! – I don’t.
So many people don’t have their shit together at the grocery store and it’s super annoying to those of us that do.

Top of the list?
The “no list” shoppers!
They bob about aimlessly like a grocery store zombie with ZERO in their cart scanning every single shelf up n’ down every single aisle.

And speaking of aisles…
There should be a GIANT sign that reads…
People with lists.
People like me would like to get their fucking shopping done and get home.
Is it really too much to ask?
And while we’re at it…
I saw these in the cracker/cookie aisle.
Entertainment Crackers… Seriously?
There is nothing entertaining about “Entertainment Crackers” so let’s just leave those off of the holiday entertaining list.
They’re like little discs of concrete that people spread shit on and call it an
appetizer. They’re disgusting AND one bite – if you can bite it – and it’s a mess.
I don’t like messy foods especially at a party or get together.

And speaking of messy foods.
Here’s another do not add it to your entertaining list.
GIANT strawberries with that hard ass waxy chocolate shit on them!

IN OTHER NEWS –
I’ve been battling computer issues for most of the day. Specifically, my printer. It’s not even a year old. The ink is new, I ran all of the tests, removed and reinstalled and it still won’t print in black. I had this problem once before and I can’t remember what the fix was.
Whatevs… I’ll try again tomorrow.
Cleaning up my craft area today and I realize I have at least 4 glue guns and a MILLION glue sticks!
Also, a BAZILLION buttons!!!
It’s confirmed. Yes, I do have S.T.A.B.L.E Syndrome.
Altho truth be told. I’d much rather have Stabler syndrome…

What did you do this weekend?
I stayed in from the heat – mostly.
The pup had a spa day, she loved it and she is feeling most beautiful.
I managed to ruin a project I was working on for 4 fucking days so now it’s turning into something else I’m not bitter because that’s what crafting people do.

I got thru 2 skeins of yarn on one of my blankets and totally ran out of the color I was using soooo I’ll get that the next time I go out. In the meantime, I’ll work on another blanket that I do have the yarn to complete – I think.
See?? This is how projects go unfinished!

It’s Monday and I have no idea where the weekend went. It’s just a blur to me!
I know I did a shit ton of laundry and carpet cleaning.
I think I did some writing, some reading, some crocheting, and some quilting.

Oh. We got new neighbors upstairs and next door. So far so good. A couple moved in upstairs and they’re relatively quiet and the ones next door are African refugees, a mom, and some kids. They don’t speak English so I’m pretty sure our neighborly interactions upstairs and next door will consist of hellos and head nods.

Sounds perfect… Unless they decide to “borrow” my patio chairs…

FRIDAY FOCUS

This was my favorite focus of the day.
RAIN! Beautiful wet leaves and the smell of autumn.
I had one of these the other night and I felt like a kid again trick or treating back in Michigan.
Every Halloween it rained. Every Thanksgiving the Lions played the Bears. Those two things a kid could count on.

I’m really digging this tea right now. If you haven’t tried it you should. It is delicious!
Day 2 of no coffee. A slight headache but I think I’ll live.

On the craft table tonight. I’m finally getting around to fixing my crestfallen $2 thrift store angel. I saw her a million years ago and I just couldn’t leave her trapped in that stuffy store. Not to mention, she’s crocheted and I know the time and work that went into making her.

It’s been a bit of a busy day thus the late post.
I hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of a beautiful fall weekend.
Looks like rain all week for us and I am more than okay with that!

CRAFTING
I do all kinds of crafts and lately, it seems to be too many. I got a little burnt out on crocheting at the holidays but I still can’t put my hook down!

**Crocheting
This is what I’ve got going on at the moment.
A baby blanket for a boy. Go figure. I know no one who is pregnant and having a boy or anyone who’s just had a boy. I just grabbed some yarn and started in. This will go in my inventory for an online store I hope to open up sometime in the near future.

I made this soft n’ snuggly, chunky blanket for my friend for Christmas.

I tried a new to me technique using canvas, HTV (heat transfer vinyl) and my heat press.
It’s called reverse canvas.This is the video I followed.

This was my result.

My trial run I used a small canvas to see how I’d like it. I liked it A LOT and I’ll do a larger one shortly.
This was a 10×10 canvas and when reversed gives you an 8×8 workspace.

I also did a few things for my kids a while back.
Socks for my son and daughter-in-law.
Super fun. Super easy.
Heat press and HTV.

Made my daughter a couple of t-shirts.
She loved them.
Oh. And I made this wine glass for my nephew.
Not intended to offend anyone because where we come from there are a lot of Jews. Some are friends or old bosses, neighbors, whatever and they never get offended by our politically incorrect humor because they all know the keyword is humor.

So, those are some of my recent projects. I have some from a while back at the holidays. I’ll make a page up top so you can check everything out if you want to.

Today I’ll be sorting thru some fabric for a few sewing projects I have in mind.
I’ll post those pics as I go as well.

What’s your favorite “go to” when you need to release those creative juices?
Do you have more than one project going at a time or do you stick with one until it’s done? Clearly, I am not that person.
Our spring-like weather gave way to winter weather, complete with snow that, thank goodness, did not stick because it’s been so warm but wow, what a drop in temps! We went from highs in the 60’s and lows in the 40’s to highs in the 40’s and lows in the teens! Bbbbrrrr! But no! I’m not complaining because at least we don’t have a foot of snow and we can always layer up to stay warm out there! Okay, well, long post. I think I may be getting my vibe back! Yay!

***Did any of you get the chance to see the super blue blood moon?
– I missed it. The clouds were all over the place down here in the valley and it was way too early in the morning to go trekking up the mountains.

***What about Punxsutawney Phil’s prediction of 6 more weeks of winter? True or false? Yay or nay?
If that proves to be true it won’t bother me in the least! We’ve had record breaking temps into the 60’s and that is a beautiful thing!

***Are you watching the Super Bowl today and if so, who are you rooting for? The Patriots or the Eagles?
– I know nothing of the Eagles but I’m pulling for them and ONLY because Tom Brady irritates me. The only time I root for the Patriots is when they’re playing the Seahawks and that’s only because EVERYONE out here is Seahawk crazy and they shove it down your throat with a pitchfork. Seriously.
Oh, and PS, I won’t be watching the Super Bowl. I’ll be Netflixing The Godfather trilogy.

***If you are watching and even if you’re not I suppose, what’s your favorite Super Bowl food?
– I like a good batch of chili and some pulled pork sandwiches and random chips n’ dips.
IN THE CRAFTING CORNER –
Too many irons in the fire! Crocheting, sewing, painting, Cricut. One day I’ll get around to taking pics and actually posting them here!

STREAMING –
I’ve been cheating on Netflix with Hulu and just finished watching a great show, now canceled, of course, called Revenge.
It – was – amazing! And now I want to be Emily Thorne/Amanda Clarke because she is badass.

I’m not streaming anything else at the moment. I usually only stream when I’m crocheting, it’s a mindless craft for me so I can watch while I crochet. Right now I’m painting and cutting with my Cricut. This requires my attention so it’ll be Dr. G Medical Examiner streaming in the background. You don’t really have to watch Dr. G to know what’s going on. You can listen. She explains things pretty thoroughly.
ON THE HOME FRONT –
First and foremost, NO FLU! Not here, not with any of my kids or any of my grandchildren and I am SO incredibly thankful for that! I hope the same holds true for all of you! This flu that is going around is no joke! If you haven’t done so already, please, GET YOUR FLU SHOT!

However, despite not having the flu I am sickened. Sickened that one of our local priests – not mine – was arrested and charged with 10 counts of felony sexual exploitation and 1 count of a controlled substance. It’s beyond disturbing to me on so many, many levels.

Also disturbing? The USA Gymnastic sexual abuse cases. What the hell is wrong with people?? Is there no safe place for our children and grandchildren?? It’s so infuriating and kudos to the dad that went after that piece of shit team doctor, Nassar. The deputies should’ve moved a little bit slower and let that dad get in at least one good fist to that scumbag’s head! As my kids posted on Facebook, “Mom, this would’ve totally been you.” Yes.. Yes it would have.

I’ve been spending a ridiculous amount of time cleaning up my computer. Downloading and saving what needs to be downloaded and saved because as much as I hate to see my lit’l all in one Dell – that my kids hate – go, I think she’s on her last leg after nearly 5 years. Now the only decision to be made is laptop or desktop…

When I hit the lottery you can bet I’ll be owning a couple of these.IN OTHER NEWS – I got nutthin’ folks. This week is gonna’ be all about staying cool and building my inventory for upcoming craft shows n’ the like. I got delayed on my blanket when my sister came to visit so I’ll be doing double time on blocks today, which means I’ll be doing double time with “Grissom” who I just find sexier n’ sexier which each episode.

I need to narrow down my blogging groups as well. I haven’t been posting in them because there are so many to post in and I’m trying to figure out the best fit for me. Until then, I blog for myself and you, my faithful readers.

Also need to work on my BuJo (bullet journal) and start another one for daily tasks, and another for my blogging. I dunno but the creative bug has bitten me hard lately and all I want to do is create n’ play like I’m in kindergarten again. And, FYI, it feels great doing it so Imma’ gonna’ do more of it.
