#19 – FLYING HIGH…

On ‘Flying Pie Pizza!’
Here in Idaho, we have a pizza chain called ‘Flying Pie Pizza.’
It was featured on ‘Man Vs. Food.’

One of the super cool things about ‘Flying Pie Pizza‘ aside from their pizza, is that they do a daily pizza giveaway called, “It’s Your Day!” You can click on the link to learn all about it but basically, it’s this.
They post a random name on their sign out front and if it’s your name you get to go in between 2-4pm or 8-10pm and make yourself a 10″ personal pizza for FREE.
Pretty cool, huh?

Well, guess what?? The other day my son’s name was on the sign and he got to go make himself a free pizza!
How cool is that?

IN OTHER NEWS –
We are soooo close to being done with repair work! The painting got done today and the ceiling fan/light goes back up in the morning. Yay!!!!

I unplugged for most of last weekend and it was so relaxing. No phone. No computer. I divided my time between the sun, books, crocheting and ‘Rizzoli & Isles,’ my current Netflix binge. It was soooo nice.

This week, however, has already started out in a whirlwind and life, in general, doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon, and that’s okay. Full speed ahead is a good speed as long as I get a moment or two ~~or three or four or five~~ to hit the trails and read a book, I’m good.
What’s happening in your week ahead? Anything thrilling and spine chilling to report??
Who’s got gardens going on? How are they doing? We’ve had such wonky weather here. Late snow and late frosts it really just threw the whole planting season off.

#18 – PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE

Seriously… Omg… I can’t stand repair work being done around me and I feel like such a bitch about it but honestly, it just drives me bonkers. Especially since the work is being done in two of the rooms we frequent the most. – Thank the gods that be that we’re having no issues in our bathroom!

Plus, I feel like I’m being held hostage by the Gomer waiting on when/if he chooses to show up. He never shows when he says he will and we’ve had some beautiful days that I would’ve much rather been on the trails in the sunshine than waiting on that jughead.

And I know that I don’t have to be home for them to come in but I’d rather be, ya’ know? I mean, I don’t know this guy. He could be one of those weirdo panty sniffer idiots I see on all of my creepy crime shows. Who knows?? Plus, just the idea of a stranger in my home and I’m not here. Yeah, no. Call me paranoid but no. Not happening.
My future daughter-in-law tho, finding the positive in everything that happens, did take advantage of this annoying situation..

She decided to dry her leggings collection… And trust me. She has waaaay more than this and more coming in the mail!
So. There’s a silver lining. Killing two birds with one stone, as it were.

HOME REPAIR UPDATE –
The fan is gone AND the Gomer got fired! Not because of us but apparently, his work, in general, was a bit shoddy. – Ya’ think???
We have a new maintenance guy and he appears to be on the ball and he’s certainly 100% more professional than the Gomer. We still have holes in the dining room and kitchen and the one in the dining room is going to get a whole lot bigger before all is said and done. I don’t even care. I just want it finished!

We’ve had some great weather but that took quite a turn. Cooler temps with rain/hail/snow mix but that’s okay because I’ve got plenty of projects to keep me busy indoors!
More about those later..

It’s also a book by Margaret Atwood but I haven’t read it – yet.

#17 – IT’S STILL MY MONDAY

From faux Monday to Monday from hell.
Yes. I know it’s Wednesday.
Let’s just forget about this loud ass monstrosity of a floor fan that must run all day, all night, all weekend and into next week.
I know. It doesn’t look very big but trust me, it’s loud as fuck.
And let’s forget our “Gomer” maintenance guy’s chop shop repair.
A hole in the dining room. A hole in the kitchen where a ton more water came pouring out between two light fixtures. No worries, right? I’m sure there’s no water in between point A and point B…

So, just to put it together. The loud ass floor fan is on the floor pointed up at the big hole in the dining room with the idea that that small hole in the kitchen will serve as ventilation to dry everything out to prevent mold and the ceiling collapsing.
Uh huh…
Yeah. Let’s forget about all that other jerry-rigged ridiculousness going on up there and let’s take a moment to focus on this close up of our Gomer maintenance guy hard at work.
Yep. That’s our Gomer. And I get to spend the next couple of weeks with him.
I know ladies, be jealous…
I know I said the most challenging aspect of the Whole30 Plan was not being able to have my fancy coffees. I take that back. It’s not being able to have a vat of fucking wine when I need it!

#16 – IT’S TUESDAY NOT MONDAY JACKASS!

We live in an apartment so our washer n’ dryer is a “stackable.” Stackables are not full-size machines but they’re better than hauling all your crap to a laundry mat.
– In my opinion.. –
This is our stackable.
Typically we keep the laundry soap, bleach and dryer sheets on top of the dryer which, just FYI, on 364 days of the year poses no problem.
Welcome to today.
Because the stackable is so small I like to get as much water into the washer as possible so for large and medium loads I always turn the knob to the large setting.
The “large” setting = more water for washing = cleaner clothes.
Small loads are always set at small loads because if you set the knob to large and you only throw in a couple of pairs of jeans, some socks, and a t-shirt, the stackable will, in fact, have a seizure.
Not even kidding.

Today the washing machine went off kilter while spinning out a large load. A true large load, plenty of clothes and water, with the knob set at large.
– It does this sometimes. The whole off-kilter thing. –
What it doesn’t do is start throwing shit at me!

Seriously. I heard the machine start to go a little wonky. The easy fix is to lift the lid and rearrange the clothes and send it back on its spinning way.
Not today.
NOT today…

Today I open up the door to the stackable to rearrange the clothes and a FULL bottle of 64 load liquid laundry detergent flew at my head. I ducked and splat! Onto the floor, it went. Needless-to-say, lots of laundry soap and a million pieces of the plastic cap eeevvveeerywhere! And of course, I was on my way to an appt.!

My son was kind enough to clean up the mess for me and shared his own story of a “laundry attack” that happened to him, only for him it was the bleach! It hit the floor, bounced, the cap flew off and bleach went shooting all over the front of his jeans! I am beyond thankful that it didn’t get in his eyes! And so is he!
Ya’ know, I’m thinkin’ laundry shouldn’t be quite this freakin’ dangerous…
Um, yeah. I’m gonna’ go with today being that day….
BUT WAIT! THERE’S MORE!!! LOOK!
Our maintenance guy decided to give us a new shower…
IN OUR DINING ROOM!
Ugh.
Seriously?
Hey, gods of the weekdays. It’s Tuesday NOT Monday you jackass!

Well, as you can see. This will be my Tuesday. Sitting around the apartment waiting on maintenance men who never shut the door behind them despite me telling them over n’ over that we have a dog…
I might feel a lit’l bit better if our maintenance guy wasn’t such a gomer. He says he’s going to get up there and “dry things out” and we’ll be able to use our light tonight.
Really gomer?? Not on your fucking life.
I just hope he doesn’t fix it like this…
On the plus side. Our upstairs neighbors with the cement block feet moved out.
So yay, right???

#15 – NEVER COMPLAIN, NEVER EXPLAIN

Whoever penned those words was most definitely NOT a blogger.
Forgive me blogging world for I have sinned. It has been 67 days since my last blog post.
While I was gone…
– I did not discover the cure for cancer but I did use sunscreen so that’s kinda’ close.
– I also did not go tubing down the Boise River but I did go past the park that’s completely flooded by the Boise River, so again, close.
– I met a total hottie while shopping at Whole Foods and then went back to his place and had wild Animal Planet sex!
– Okay. I didn’t really meet a total hottie and go home with him to have wild Animal Planet sex… ~~Kill joys~~
BUT… I was in Whole Foods and I did see a total hottie and I seriously thought about having wild Animal Planet sex with him!
So, yeah, I’m gonna’ count that as close too.

I started the Whole30 eating plan. You can read about the plan here.
Basically, it’s this –
Meat, fruit n’ veggies. No sugar, no grains, no dairy.
“Eliminate the most common craving-inducing, blood sugar disrupting, gut-damaging, inflammatory food groups for a full 30 days.”
After 30 days you start introducing more foods back into your meals and then you
pick n’ choose which ones stay based on the way they make you feel after eating them again.

So far, drinking my coffee black seems to be the most challenging aspect of this plan.
I didn’t realize how much I reeeaaallly love my fancy coffees!

Here are a couple of the “creative irons” in the fire.
WIP (Work in progress) the first of many baby blankets for the new lit’l tummy nugget.
Bobble stitches and granny stripes. As soon as we find out if it’s a boy or girl I’ll add some color.
And, using up some scrap yarn whipping up some granny squares.
The “back” pic shows the weaving in of the ends with a tapestry needle. Sometimes I weave as I go. Whatever my mood. I really like the granny squares because they whip up so fast and you can do so many things with them.
I’m going to blog at least 3 times a week now. More if I can fit it in. I really enjoy it and I really miss it. And, I really miss all of YOU!
