AD-ITUDE!

So, yesterday, while I was visiting all of my regular blogs on my blog list I came across a few blog titles from other bloggers that caught my eye so I clicked…
Wow. What a mess!

I thought maybe from the titles these would be blogs I might want to follow but once I got to their page all I saw were ads, ads, and more ads!

Two lines of blogging, a big ‘ol ad and then two more lines of blogging all the way thru the post. It was so distracting I couldn’t stay interested so I just left.

I checked around on the world wide web and only 2% – 4% of “pro-bloggers” actually make money blogging. It’s crazy…

I’ve blogged about this before in this post and seriously, blogging is definitely not what it used to be.

Which brings me to an announcement…
Because I soooo long for the days of “old school” blogging I started a Facebook group specifically for us old school bloggers!
EVERYONE is welcome to join and to share your blog posts to a group of kindred spirit, old school bloggers.

It’s over and I just want to cry!!!
I heard chatter that people were upset about the ending. I was not one of those people. I loved everything about this show and am really kinda’ sad that it’s over.
Jon Snow was my crush and I seriously wish dragons were real.
Got caught up on another show that I absolutely love, Lucifer on Netflix.
Can’t wait for season 5! Thank you, Netflix for saving this show!

OH, HI….

I took a little vacay to go back east and spent some time with these beautiful souls…I also got to watch my daughter graduate with her Masters in Education.
SO, SO, proud of her and all of the hard work she put in.
She really is an incredible woman.
SIDE NOTE:
Ignore Jim Gaffigan photobombing. We were at the Fox Theatre in Detroit.
And, of course, I visited with my other two sons and their families.
I was gone a month and seriously, this was my time.
The kiddos, the grandkids, quick visits with extended family –
Rinse, repeat.

I missed some family members along the way and I saw zero friends but due to the top photo, I tend to have tunnel vision.

One day I’ll make it back to visit everyone… Promise!
I’ve only been home 4 days so I’m still catching up on sleep and getting back into my time zone. I’m also doing laundry – dread – and cleaning/reorganizing my crafts.

So apparently I just like to break all of those “build your audience, build your followers” ~~build a fucking bear~~ rules of blogging. However, as most of you know. I’m not nor have I ever been, a rule follower. I follow the law and anything baking that smells like it should go directly onto my fat ass.

I’ll keep this post short so you don’t end up muddling thru a shitty, everyday version of War & Peace. But hey! How ’bout this handbag made from a War and Peace book?! I love it.
No big mystery as to why I’ve been away. Sometimes life is just meh.

♦The highlight of my week thus far has been driving in snow, rain and whipping winds to arrive early at my dental appt. and being told AFTER AN HOUR of sitting there that they’ve overbooked. Ugh. I rescheduled.

♦No idea what’s happening with the Cohen confessions. Don’t care.

♦In the craft corner, its been all about crochet.

♦In the weather dept. it’s just nutso! A little bit of everything.

♦HULU pick of the week – Manifest. – Great show. Always keeps me on the edge of my seat.

♦Finished 2 books, Gone Girl and The Giver. Currently reading, The Lightworker’s Source (again.) Need to update my GoodReads acct.

♦Anybody else having issues with Facebook because mine is acting really wonky.

Our temps have been near 50 forever and then boom. That rodent comes out with his early spring bullshit and we get fucking snow and temps back down into the 40’s.

I know, I know. I told everybody if they didn’t have weather as shitty as the weather in the midwest and northeast they don’t get to bitch. What I didn’t tell you is that as the owner of this blog I can bitch whenever I want so it’s really just one of those, “do as I say, not as I do” things.

They did the hard work. They earned this and I am honored to be sitting on the sidelines cheering them on.

OH SNAP! – #9

As you may have guessed, I’ve been gone for a bit.
I had a minor ~~hurts like a son-of-a-bitch~~ surgery and “Blake & Miranda” graciously allowed me to recoup at their place.
It was a wonderful mini vacay filled with amazing people, great food, homeschooling from hell and lots of love and laughter.
Omg, this just makes me laugh so much…
All in all, I’d say the mini vacay was…

MIDNIGHT AT THE OASIS… – #8

First of all, let me apologize for the earworm that got stuck in your head just from the title alone. I’m not talking about midnight at this oasis…
Buttttttt… Can I just say, I miss those clothes, that hair, and the music.

I’m talking about “Blake & Miranda’s Mountain Oasis.”
This is pretty much the winter months, give or take a few inches of snow.

This is the summer.

So. When I write that I’m heading to “Miranda’s” I’m sure you’ll all understand if it takes me a few days to come back. It’s so relaxing and when you walk in the door to “Blake n’ Miranda’s” home not only do you feel like family, you are family.

You may remember my post ‘Miranda Throws A Pleasure Party.’ It’s my most viewed post to date. If you haven’t read it, you should. That post will really give you a view of what lies at the foot of those beautiful mountains up there.
Well… pleasure parties, homeschooling, fantastic home cooking and running a ranch!

Speaking of homeschooling… Kudos to every homeschooling mom/dad on the planet! The school work has changed SOOOOO much it’s unreal. I look at the math and I’m like, nope, I’m out. Give me books, words and art and I’m in.

I’m currently reading two books. Yep. I’m that kind of reader…
“Miranda” gave me ‘Gone Girl’ for Christmas. A real book, paperback and I checked out ‘The Giver’ from my local library via my phone using the Libby app. I’m determined to reach my reading goals this year on Goodreads!
So, what’s Wednesday looking like for all of you??? Almost to the weekend. Anybody have plans?? I have a dental appt. on Friday. Go me! ~~I hate the dentist…~~

YOU DOWN WITH OBC??? – #5

What happened to the “Original Blogging Community???” I used to love peeking into the windows of my fellow bloggees who so graciously shared their little corners of the world with us and I with them, you… Anybody, everybody.

We were connected back then and what we wrote was the real deal. We didn’t sugar coat shit. If somebody was having a bad day, they shared it with us. If someone’s kid was being an asshat, that was shared too. Husband issues, work issues, family, neighbors. WE SHARED! And most importantly we supported one another. We encouraged one another, we cheered each other on and when one of us laughed we all laughed and when one of us cried, we all cried.

We used to give out awards! What the hell happened to those??? I was the award whore. I LOVED getting awards! Did we all suddenly become so fucking busy that we totally disconnected from our sacred community where we once shared our hopes and dreams, joys and sorrows, and sometimes, deep dark secrets with one another???

The answer to that is yes and no. We didn’t totally disconnect.
Some of us stayed connected JUST enough to gain followers and sell our products.

One word destroyed our tight-knit neighborhood.
– NUMBERS –

Our bloggee minds became so clouded by the need to be the next JK Rowlings or Oprah or Martha Stewart or Kate Spade, okay maybe not Kate… the next Vera Wang that a huge majority of us didn’t even know why we were blogging anymore.

“Sorry, I’ve got a book/dress/hat/mugs/t-shirts to sell, an article to submit, omg, The Huffington Post wants me!” – I get it and there’s no shame in the game. Everybody has that brass ring they’re reaching for. I honestly do get it.

I sell shit so I know the importance of having a broad audience.
I also know the importance of not losing touch with the tried and true.
The audience who was there and continues to be there from your first word on your blog to your first book/tv show/podcast/magazine cover, etc.

Basically, I just miss the original bloggees from the hood and kickin’ it old school.
Just my opinion. Agree. Disagree. That’s the vibe I’m feeling.
